flowwithit · 13/08/2012 19:37

Thanks this will hopefully be a more up to date programme than some I have seen before.

flowwithit · 13/08/2012 19:40

Just looked at the Ruth rendell one too that looks really good so I've got it on record as well thanksSmile

Lougle · 13/08/2012 21:01

I've just seen this in the nick of time.

LottieJenkins · 13/08/2012 21:05

I am watching now! I think it is going to be upsetting to watch!! Wilf wasnt diagnosed till he was 13!!!

blueemerald · 13/08/2012 21:09

15 months is an incredibly early diagnosis!

LottieJenkins · 13/08/2012 21:18

I think i am going to try and contact this lady. Wilf is deaf/autistic. The problem is there are two camps, deaf and autistic. if you are both then you fall between both camps! It is very difficult as there is little support!Sad

Watching too, the mum appears great!

Lougle · 13/08/2012 21:25

I love that Michael adds 'But I'm not colourblind'...it's a brilliant example.

I have to say, I kind of agree with Michael regarding the painting Shock. I just see a girl staring blankly.

Lougle · 13/08/2012 21:29

Leonie...DD2, my ? girl...she'd say exactly that Grin

redhappy · 13/08/2012 21:30

What's the Ruth Rendall thing?

I wonder if they'll meet anyone else. I wish these programmes would look at people in the 'middle' of the spectrum too. Difficult to relate either of these young men to my 5 year old ds.

LottieJenkins · 13/08/2012 21:30

A few years ago Wilf was asked to write an article about a newspaper article. A staff member explained to him what "being caught red handed" Wilf started to write the article and said "the man with red paint on his hands!!"

watching with interest as know nothing of autism.. although know quite a bit about ADHD due to DS. Close to tears...

Watching this now my DS mildly displays some of the autism traits. Things I remember mentioning to GP, HV.. but was ignored.

Silly question though, I take it even the mildest austism cannot be disciplined? watching Jake and Zane's mum getting really hurt by the children and no disciplining whatsoever. But I'm guessing it's something you can't do with autism? Really breaks my heart watching this programme.
