I have to see the GP tomorrow at 11:30 for a pg test in order to be referred to a hospital (yeah I know).

Tribunal SALT is seeing DS in school and I have JUST had a request to meet her at 12:30.

So I call surgery to rearrange. They can't fit me in anytime until next week when I will be 37.

I explained I needed to be referred so the 'suggest I keep the appointment then'.

I mentioned I had been summoned to ds' school for a SN issue and was told to 'send my dh'. I said he was away and was told to send a neighbour.

I just said I don't know my neighbours but the school need to see me and they changed the time to 9:00, which I said I can't do as I have to TAKE DS to school. They said then my DH would have to just come back and take him then.

Wtf?

Finally got to speak to actual doctor who was lovely and who will see my at 5!

You really couldn't make it up could you?! What a stupid unhelpful receptionist.

How you are keeping sane I don't know! Glad you got through to the actual doctor and got a new appointment.

robotcornysilk · 14/05/2012 15:18

send a neighbour Shock confidentiality not high on their agenda then?

claw4 · 14/05/2012 15:50

Preg test at almost 37 weeks, you'd have thought they can pretty much take your word for it!

I always get 'whats it for', when i phone to make an appointment at my dr's. I will tell the dr during my appointment, once you make it, if you dont mind!

'yea, but is it important' nooooo i just make appointments for the fun of it!

StarshitTerrorise · 14/05/2012 22:11

She's sick. Doesn't think she should get anywhere near a heavily pg woman or spread it round SN school.

I agree, though that woukd quite possibly be the least of my problems. Still it's true I don't want to add ill health to the list.

Hope you can convince the doctor you are actually pregnant tomorrow, and not just stuffing a cushion up your jumper...

StarshitTerrorise · 14/05/2012 22:54

I didn't ask the doctor because I couldn't care less, but this pgtest thing MUST be a mistake right? That the Receptionist just wasn't thinking, like when my 42yr old friend went to his GP with Chicken Pox and was told to take Calpol.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 14/05/2012 22:57

I bet it's one of those computer database field things, can't register unless you've passed the pregnancy test, like you had to give your height, weight and waist measurement at 36 weeks pregnant.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 14/05/2012 23:02

You wore Heather Shimmer at your wedding!!!!

StarshitTerrorise · 14/05/2012 23:02

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 14/05/2012 23:08

too young.

StarshitTerrorise · 15/05/2012 18:00

GP didn't do pg test. He did however tell me that I HAVE to have a Hospital birth due to a back to back baby, and insisted on another can.

I told him neither were gonna happen so h told me I'd never forgive myself having a back to back baby at home as I'd need more pain relief and it was more likely to go wrong.

I told him that my first was back to back, I was refused pain relief, and it went wrong, in hospital, BECAUSE of hospital and I KNOW about the pain an I'm having baby at home.

Then he took my blood pressure. It was high. Hmm

I just told him to refer me and I'd sort eveything out with the midwives.

But this isn't going to be a problem. I know much more about childbirth and home birth 'rights' than I probably ought to. Just gotta get the damn referral, which I've done doubly as I 'referred myself to the consultant midwife at the weekend.
