Refusing to do homework on health & safety grounds!

Ds has form for trying to avoid homework but this takes the biscuit! He waits until bedtime to tell me that he should have done some homework for tomorrow morning but is 'totally not doing it' . Apparently he has to take an egg in along with a case or contraption that he has made to enable the egg to be dropped from a height without breaking Hmm. You are not allowed to use tape or glue or hard boil the egg Confused. He says he told the teacher that this would be a health and safety risk due to possible salmonella poisoning and he does not want to risk contaminating himself or his peers but she said she still expects him to do it and he can use an egg with the red lion stamped on it! Oh dear, hope it doesn't kick off when he tells her he hasn't done it and gives her a health and safety lecture.

That's an excuse my DS hasn't thought of yet! Better than 'the dog ate it.' He asks me 10 times a day if he can skip school tomorrow or skip homework tonight. He's still not bored with the same old answer...

One large box of rice crispies, one egg. Stick inside box in the middle and drop it Grin

Tell him no one will get samonella as the egg wont break because I just tried it Grin

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 10/05/2012 23:16

Coff33, you are slightly mad, you know? Grin

coff33pot · 10/05/2012 23:20

noooo Ellen I am only slightly sane Grin

I was bored and saw this post lol

It was my second attempt I have to admit as I forgot to roll the bag down inside lol and it jumped out so the dog lapped up prototype number 1 haha!

Thanks coff - hope your dog enjoyed it! You are seriously beginning to worry me now but glad the thread took your mind off other issues temporarily Grin.
zzzzzz I would tell ds he is a Luddite but don't fancy a 2 hour argument lecture on the reasons why he's not!

I love the fact that there are all these eggs in cereal boxes around.

I am writing this all down for when DS2 gets to this point in his schooling. Handy info to have. (I am loathe to waste cereal as well!) Grin

bochead · 11/05/2012 11:58

Your child could be my DS's big bro (bit worried now as the Somali neighbours already cal him the H&S officer!).

I'm loving coff's solution btw Grin

Eggscluded! you have got to be yolking! Shock

Oh well put it all down to eggsperience and hope he gets cracking off on a good start when he goes back :)

moosemama · 11/05/2012 16:41

For future reference, ds2 has also been eggsperimenting at school today. They left eggs in various substances a week ago and investigated today to see how they had been affected.

Apparently, the one that had been left in the blackcurrant squash was really slippery, so the teacher dropped it on the floor - and it bounced, despite not being hard-boiled.

So there you have it yolks folks. In order to drop an egg from a height without breaking it, all you need to do is give it a bath in blackcurrant squash for a few days first.

Eggstraordinary huh? Grin

Desperatelyseekingsupport · 11/05/2012 17:49

I wasn't joking. Found out during my lunchbreak that he's excluded until next Thursday. Various reasons, particularly for being rude and agressive to staff. On way home to pick up the pieces.
