Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

It's Over.......LEA have rolled over

A little spat over 45 minutes weekly SALT provision when they had already agreed to a separate 45 minutes on a specific programme and the other SALT provision (would have compromised on 30 tbh) but I think that was more for show than actual intent as within minutes of solicitor reiterating the need to specify they'd agreed to everything.

I can't believe it, I have my life back at last, it's been a hellish 18 months but we've got there today.

The LEA has been trounced, ds's provision is assured until he's 19 which was always the aim and it signposts the way for post 19 specialist provision too rather than relying on the pathetic Connexions service here.

Absolutely over the moon Grin

How brilliant, I am so pleased for you Smile

The LEA has been trounced

insanityscratching · 23/04/2012 15:00

bialy damn right it did Grin Eighteen months ago LEA were hoping to offload ds into the local college and lapse his statement. Today his place in the independent specialist school is assured until he enters post 19 along with transport and escort. Fees for school £50,000pa and whatever the transport and escort costs on top Grin and hopefully I have earned my stripes as a thorn in their side Wink

Your OP made me cry!

Well done you.
Are you just happy and relieved or angry too?

I just sometimes wonder at how people deal with having to go to such lengths simply to win their child's legal entitlement.

WetAugust · 23/04/2012 18:51

Excellent result. I'm really pleased you'll get a break from all this now.

(but they should never have put you though it in the first place)

notparanoidiftheyreouttogetyou · 23/04/2012 19:05

Brilliant!

NoHaudinMaWheest · 23/04/2012 19:15

Really good well done. But you shouldn't have had to fight for it. (What would have happened if you weren't able to ?)

insanityscratching · 23/04/2012 19:19

I'm ecstatic, I feel vindicated that I knew exactly what ds needed and now he has it. I'm slightly pissed off that the last 18 months have been dominated by this, everything has been hit from finances to time and energy and even my health and I haven't given ds or dd the time I normally would and I hate that.
But I'm not brooding on that today, I'm determined I'll sue for educational negligence because I believe that will be the only way it will be acknowledged exactly how badly they have treated my boy but I refuse to be wasted by anger.
Interestingly now the battle is over my case has been passed from ruthless bastard LIO to the one who serves our area. It speaks volumes I think that they know they have no options but to fund for the next couple of years.
Dd's AR on Tuesday, hopefully that will go well, and if nothing else I hope they're at least wary of crossing me again so soon after the last battle.
