Hello all Smile

Hope you have all had a good week?

Ds1 is doing well Smile Sorry to turn each post into a boast-fest Blush but he got more team points this week and was put on a higher book level again Smile He is also doing really well in maths.

Its hard to remember how bad things were this time last year wrt his school work and him struggling so much!

Still got a long way to go but am feeling hopeful Smile

Ds2 is being a monkey...we have a settling in visit at pre school on monday am feeling very very anxious about it, it all went so horribly wrong with ds1 from pre school onwards...just want to get it right this time, you know?

hi bec so glad that things are going well for ds1, are you expecting ds2 to find the visit difficult?

things here have been chugging along, ds is doing well, statement review went well, statement maintained, and school (and us) very happy with his progress.. My headless chook work schedule has quietened a little, and I am away next week for my birthday related hols... Grin Grin

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 23/03/2012 18:06

Evening.

Love the boasty posts. It's only here in SN that we can get away with them, I think. Well done becaroooo junior. Smile

Happy Birthday, sign. Thanks

DS2 got a postcard from school saying he'd done really well in a geography assessment, (the implication was surprisingly well, I think. Grin )

I've got my charge at school's annual review next week. He's going up to secondary soon so I'll be out of a job. Sad I'm in the middle of filling in an application for a TA in a secondary school, but the 2 page 'why would you be suited to this role?' part is daunting me. I'd rather be MNing... Grin

Becaroooo · 23/03/2012 18:16

sign Happy Birthday!

ellen ooohh..forms...I dont like filling in forms! Sad

I think ds2 will find it very upsetting (we tried last sept at a different pre school and he got so upset he vomited. He was hysterical. He would wake in the night crying about it Sad)

This new one will let me stay with him til he settles which is good and is much smaller and better staff to child ratio

I think he is ready - he is showing more interest in numbers and letters and needs more stimulation than he is getting at home....I am afraid due to illness and my general crapness cbeebies is raising ds2 atm Sad

Becaroooo Nice to see things are going well for DS1. If it's anything like at our house, panic ensues for something and it goes fine. It's when we think everything will be fine that we're usually sunk! Grin So your DS2 will be fine, eh?

signandsmile Happy Birthday! Have a lovely time. Glad to see things going well.

EllenJane LOL at surprisingly well. Best of luck with the application.

Things here are moving along alright. DH has at long last (after 18 months!!) started counselling, although he was showing some signs of improvement within the last month, so happy days! Certainly makes my stress levels go down!

DS2's annual statement review went okay - we're just waiting to see if the change to SS is approved or not. I'll be edgy until we find out - then I'll either be thrilled or utterly depressed and gearing up to fight it. Fingers crossed it's positive!

DS3 is 2yo and good at it. Need I say more? Grin

WetAugust · 23/03/2012 18:24

Hi all
Great to hear some good news and that your children are making progress.

Very strange week for me.

I received offer from my employer of redundancy / early retirement - quite out of the blue. They have to cut job numbers very quickly.

So at the end of December this year I shall be retired on full pension at the tender age of 55!

Still can't quite get my head around this after 37 years of working for the same employer.

The next day DS, the Aspie, was accepted to do a Master of Research in Regenerative Medicine, after he completes his current MSc.

Brilliant news, as he can live at home for another year while studying at the University of Bath.

Strange how nothing really happens for months/years, and in the space of a few days your life is turned upside down Grin

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 23/03/2012 18:26

evening all Smile

dd3's 1:1 finished this week Sad so next week could be interesting Grin We're all sad to see her go as dd3 thought she was fab. Dd3's boots have turned up at last, shame they are the wrong ones [sigh]

becaroo, hope things go well for ds2 and well done to ds1

sign, thought I hadn't seen you around that much recently, happy birthday Wine

ellen, fab news!!

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 23/03/2012 18:28

Wow, WetAugust, just wow! So we can expect to see more of you on MN, then? Grin

Triggles, when do you hear about SS, when's the board?

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 23/03/2012 18:30

Hi Ninja. Sorry to hear about the TA leaving. But as a TA, can I say it's not a bad idea for them not to get too dependent or over familiar with one TA, however good they are. I hope the new one is equally fab.

Becaroooo · 23/03/2012 18:31

wet gosh, what a week for you!!! Smile You must be very proud of ds. Enjoy your retirement!

triggles Am trying VERY hard not to equate ds2's issues to those of ds1 who really struggled with separation and who never really settled (despite everyone telling me he would) and make 2+2=5 but its hard.

I screwed up really badly with ds1. I dont want to do it again.

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 23/03/2012 18:31

oh wow Wet, big week, well done to your ds too.

triggles, will keep everything crossed for you, good to hear your dh is getting what he needs at last.

Triggles · 23/03/2012 18:33

EllenJane - I don't know. They apparently meet every week, and I was told it should move fairly quickly, but I'm trying to keep from obsessing over it. So I haven't called yet. Hmm

Becaroooo · 23/03/2012 18:34

ninja hope things go well with the new TA

OP posts:
TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 23/03/2012 18:35

xpost ellen, she's had other people for odd days here and there but I was hoping to keep the same 1:1 for the year Smile they've had a couple of weeks worth of handover so I have my fingers crossed there aren't too many hiccups! Dd3 is nonverbal so it can take a while to pick up on the cues but she seems quite keen to learn.

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 23/03/2012 18:36

thanks becaroo Smile

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 23/03/2012 18:38

Ninja, yes, the same one for at least a year would be better! The same one for 3 years, not so good.

moosemama · 23/03/2012 18:44

Well done to your ds Beca - lovely to hear how fast he's coming on. Hope things go well with ds2's pre-school visit.

Wet congratulations to your ds and to yourself for your retirement.

Ninja, can't believe they were the wong boots after all that waiting - what a total pita. Shame about the TA, but after the trauma we've been through with ds1 this week because a short-term trainee teacher that has been helping out in his class was leaving today, I think I'm starting to think along the same lines as Ellen about overdependence.

Triggles, good to hear dh is doing better and has finally started his counselling. Will keep everything crossed for the SS placement. My dd is 3 and excelling at it at the moment, so I hear you re your ds3! Grin

I have had a horrible week from start to finish and been spectacularly crap at coping with it all. Ds1 is a wreck, dd is poorly, dh and I are fighting like cat and dog and I have been bingeing on cheap and crappy chocolate.

Went to our LEA's secondary transition meeting at the start of the week - what a spectacular waste of time that was. Basically they stood there and told us they can't advise us on, well anything really but its ok because they know how stressful the process must be for us. Hmm

We have the LEA deadline for telling us whether or not ds is going to get a statement coming up on Monday and I am like a cat on a hot tin roof waiting for it. Daft really, as they were a week over with the SA request deadline and I don't suppose this will be any different, so I probably won't hear anything until at least the end of next week. Hmm

Triggles · 23/03/2012 18:48

moosemama yes, I'm dreading the eventual appearance of the "threenager" in DS3. Grin I may hide in the wardrobe for that entire year. Hmm

Sorry you had a bad week. I feel for you re the meetings - I honestly am reaching a point where I just hate meetings. sigh

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 23/03/2012 18:57

triggles, any room in that wardrobe for me, ds2 is approaching 3 too Smile

moose, hope all goes well for ds and things settle at home, all that stress won't be helping. I've done the transition meetings 3 times now and every time it's been about being realistic about your 'choices', in other words it's only really worth putting your closest school down as you've sod all chance of getting anywhere else!

moosemama · 23/03/2012 19:08

Ninja Grin that's exactly what they said. Basically, just put down your closest school as when if you don't get anywhere else, that's where they'll end up anyway. Hmm

Triggles · 23/03/2012 19:41

ninja it's a double wardrobe.. I reckon we can fit both of us, a couple bottles of wine, and enough room for the occasional takeaway for sustenance. Grin

SallyBear · 23/03/2012 19:42

Very excited as we ordered DS's motability car today. I've decided to call it the Jay-zee mobile. With the amount of black paint and dark windows I am thinking that if it's good enough for Beyoncé then its good enough for us!

Looking forward to my Maths GCSE lesson tomorrow. It's nice to do something for me, even if I don't do the homework! My dad is flying in tomorrow from Canada for a short visit, so it will be good to catch up with him after a year.

Wishing you all a sunny weekend. Time to dust off the BBQ I think!!

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 23/03/2012 19:51

done triggles, I'll bring gin and chocolate Grin

enjoy your weekend sallybear Smile

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 23/03/2012 19:57

I must be psychic moose Grin

moosemama · 23/03/2012 19:58

Spooky! Grin

SIGN it's my birthday next week too Smile
WET wow that'll be a change.- you must be very proud of DS
