Tinsley House Support Thread

IndigoBell · 16/02/2012 01:55

An awful lot of us are now doing Tinsley House, either by going there, or by following the recommendations in The Brain Food Plan

So this is just a general support (and hopefully good news) thread.

Stage 1 of the TH therapy consists of:

  1. Multivitamins
  1. Healthy eating diet
  • High protein, low sugar, no artificial sweeteners, additives etc.
  1. Specific exercises done 3 times a day

oh! and ds1 got another head teacher award for his writing yesterday!!!!

From a child whose teacher last year had to take his writing to the Y1 teacher to "decode" and who didnt use any puntuation or vowels!!! Grin

Am thrilled with his progress - and so is he!

Becaroooo · 21/04/2012 16:14

Blush sorry, that was a bit boast-tastic Smile

cornsyilk · 21/04/2012 16:22

I've ordered these again from amazon but they've sent me something slightly different. Anyone else had any [problems with these?

DaftMaul · 21/04/2012 21:18

I can't work out the difference between the ones you linked to and the usual Vegepa, Cornsilk.

I would probably phone the company (Igenus) and ask them.

If you look back on this thread, there is a code for %age off Vegepa direct from the company which I thinks works out cheaper than Amazon (I'm not at home otherwise I would give it again).

DaftMaul · 21/04/2012 21:20

Becaroo, not boastastic but great!!

We are off to see Robin on Monday for our second visit.

IndigoBell · 21/04/2012 21:51

25% Discount code for vegepa is EKP7EKGG

Becaroo - Well done little Roo.

sphil - Amazing! You must be so pleased.

Daft - Hope Mon goes well.

I've been sent the EPA 70 (2nd down on Indigo's link) instead of the tubs which are 3rd down. I've checked the ingredients on the back of the box/tub and the new ones are slightly different I'm sure. Looks like the tubs are being discontinued from Indigo's link though, so I've probably been sent new stuff.

Becaroooo · 22/04/2012 07:47

daft godd luck for monday - we are going on friday!

It might just be a discontinuation issue corn??..

I get my supplements from amazon and never had any probs up to now.

DaftMaul · 22/04/2012 09:35

Looking at Indigo's link, I would say that you have the new packaging Corn but with the same product as usual.

If I remember, I'll ask Robin tomorrow.

cornsyilk · 22/04/2012 09:42

Thanks Smile

Have you got the Brain food plan book? (amazon)

You can do the supplements, make some dietary changes (very carb heavy diet is a problem) and do some of the exercises.

Good luck!

IndigoBell · 23/04/2012 10:25

Merlin - I think it's very likely to help.

Actually, I think the stairs exercise would help everybody , as what it does is improve the cerebellum.

A carb heavy diet is a symptom of cerebellum problems.

You can start by either going to Tinsley House, or buying the Brain Food Plan and following it. The stairs exercise is explained in there.

Given that she's 16 you need to help her as quickly as you can, therefore if you can afford TH (£250 for first appointment) I would highly recommend it.

If you can't afford it, then keep talking on here, and we'll all help you as much as we can. But obviously it's better to actually see him.

Particularly since you're the only one with a teen, so maybe his advice to you will differ slightly. I don't know.

Merlincat, my DD is nearly 13 and had her first appointment at TH a couple of weeks ago. Her problem is dyslexia. My elder DD who is nearly 16, has no spld, but is also doing the diet/vitamins and said her concentration and motivation have improved over the last couple of weeks and she feels less tired. Younger DD has not noticed any improvement as yet.

We are vegetarian. I think using Echiomega (the vegetarian version of Vegepa) which are different to other types of omega oils on the market, plus the magnesium and zinc (15mg) make a real difference. I noticed that my eyesight improved (colour perception and field of vision) within a couple of days of taking them. Robin said to increase protein in the diet. For example scrambled egg for breakfast, beans on toast. He said Quorn type products or protein vegetable pastes were fine. Just try and avoid E numbers (even in shampoo etc), processed foods, and home cook the main meals. DD is doing the stair exercise which she finds so easy she is now on 10 reps; standing on left leg and brushing teeth with left hand.

BeingFluffy · 23/04/2012 14:52

Sorry meant AND brushing teeth - not at the same time.
DD has now progressed to doing the stair exercise carrying a tray with beakers of water on (haven't got any red wine which Robin recommended!).

DaftMaul · 23/04/2012 16:09

Have arrived home from seeing The Cult Leader Robin this morning (we walked around a huge fire chanting and wearing robes) Ds was re-assessed.

Ds has just finished his first session of VT. OMG it is going to be hard work getting him to do it every day for 8 weeks!! He found it soo hard and involved lots of crying and hyper-ventilating! Did I get easier for those of you whose dcs have/are doing it?

Corn, he didn't seem to know anything about the any change in packaging but said the Vegepa now comes in tubs rather than strips. Not sure whether that helps?

IndigoBell · 23/04/2012 18:25

Daft - my kids ^hated* vt at the begining.

But they did get used to it pretty quickly. It went from hating all of it to only hating some of it :)

And they did stop complaining. Even though I think it is genuinely hard work for them.

It really does work though.....

OP posts:
cornsyilk · 23/04/2012 18:25

well I've opened them now anyway! Will check the date on the box though and compare to my empty tub. Thanks for asking. Smile

Becaroooo · 24/04/2012 06:54

daft it will get easier...ds1 hated it too - it was 23 mins at the beginning...after 30 days it is now down to 6 mins. He still moans sometimes but I just ignore him Grin

We go on friday!

Becaroooo · 24/04/2012 09:32

Hello all Smile

I am starting to notice things;

This morning (actually over the past few days now I think about it) ds1 has been using ds2's building bricks (they are just wooden bricks of different shapes and sizes - john lewis ones if anyone needs any - I would recommend these!) to make things.

He has made a paddle steamer, an oil tanker and this morning an army tank...and they were really good!!!! Before, if he ever made anything (which was rare, he was never into blocks/lego etc) it didnt really look like anything Sad

But these were great...clever and imaginative! I know it doesnt seem much but its such a step forward for him.

He is at a friends house tonight for tea and is considering joining cubs

He also dances and sings now Smile

Its all good Smile

DaftMaul · 24/04/2012 09:35

Thankyou both. The second vt session this morning wasn't a problem at all, so that is a huge relief. Although he goes back to school tomorrow, so I am girding myself for getting it done after school!

Ds was delighted to hear that it will hopefully go down to 6 mins after a few weeks. He looked so sweet sitting in his too small Dennis the menace pjs and wearing his huge glasses at the computer ths morning Grin

Bec, you'll need your welles on Friday. The forest is very very wet! So much for the hose pipe ban!

IndigoBell · 24/04/2012 10:04

Daft - as you get all your stars for an exercise it disappears off your daily session. So it goes down by 5 mins, then another 5 mins. (although there are 2 new exercises to be added to your session)

When you've got all your stars for all the exercises you email robin and he tells you what you need to do. Something like 1 exercise for 5 minutes.

Once they start to get stars it starts to get easier for them to do.

Also you don't have to do the whole 23 mins in one session - but don't close the app down if you have a break, be ause the license is only for 100 runs of the program.

OP posts:
Becaroooo · 24/04/2012 11:04

daft We did it before school (luckily ds1 is always up early) as he is so tired when he gets back from school it wouldnt have worked for us. It wasnt too bad - I think part of the solution for us was to make it part of "the routine" in the morning, you know? It seemed to help.

Ds1 got all his stars and then I e mailed Robin and he is now doing 6 mins of a particular one that he obv needs to work on.

Ds1 likes it when he scores "more" than he did the day before Smile

IndigoBell · 24/04/2012 21:13

DS has just confessed to me that his teachers always trust what he says, because they think he can't lie - and now he's learnt how to lie - and he gets away with blue murder :)

Apparently along with his brain transplant from a few weeks ago, he's also had an upgrade to version 3.0 :)

And he now feels a range of happy emotions.

I'm blown away. GrinGrinGrin

(Just as well he's only got a term left of primary school......)
