lollipop, pleased you're a bit happier this week Smile Have you been up in the plane yet?

star, K is good for shopping, haven't been for a while but then I have no money, much like the rest of the country I think!

LollipopViolet · 10/02/2012 20:57

Not yet NinjaGoose, my supervisor seems to think that needs filming, especially if I end up doing a wee bit of flying, and if I DO, then I should be interviewed about the experience as a nice extra for the film!

Eek!

The weather is too rubbish at the moment, but I think I'm going to arrange my intro flight when I send the next email to my main contact. Might as well get it out of the way, then I'll only have on-shoot nerves, not first time in a tiny plane nerves too!

I'd be nervous too lollipop, bet it'll be fab though Smile

"support"...what is this of which you speak??? Sad Angry

The only support I have had is on here.

creatovator · 11/02/2012 10:30

Beca you say such nice things Thanks.

Most of our support now comes through DS's school. The school and I fight together and its supplied to the school. It usually involves me writing to my councillor at some point. That's the only way it comes, but it works. I have found that some of the professionals are as annoyed with the system as we are, like SALTs who are no longer meant to work with the kids themselves Confused. We also had an OT who organised a programme for my DS's class, in order to work with my DS (very ingenious). She wasn't able to take him on as an individual case because we'd been given the strategies needed to work with him by another OT.

We've got strategies from SALTs and OTs to do the work at home, plus I've got to be his Mum, plus he's got to go to school, plus I've got to get food into him regularly covering all the food groups (he's one of the picky eaters who doesn't always know he's hungry), plus he's got to have time for his interests, plus I've got to do extra preparation for going places, plus, plus, plus. Not to mention my DD, who's NT, but asked me the other day why she is doing more adult things than my DS Hmm. She's 2 yrs younger.

Sorry that turned into a major rant Blush.

creator God its hard isnt it? I would love to "just" be a mum to my ds1 and not a teacher and therapist too, you know? Sad

I think you are spot on wrt the professionals getting angry at the system too...they must get so demoralised by it all, just as we do.

Its great that your school is on board...IME primary schools just dont want to know wrt sn/sen Sad but I realise that not all schools are like that.

We are in a pretty rural area - small village - and therefore small school but there are probably more than the average percentage of underprivilged kids there....just last month the HT had to prevent a mother taking her dc home...she was dead drunk Sad Sad Sad She got SS involved thankfully.

I am a firm believer that if you want things to change you have to get involved and "get your hands dirty"...I am now on the PTA and am volunteering to help read to pupils after half term. Smile I pity them in a way Grin they dont know what they are letting themselves in for do they???

Ds1 really cracked me up earlier...he has been bought a (cheap) dvd treat for a week on his melatonin and not calling me or dh when he wakes at night and going back to sleep himself...I hinted he might have a treat waiting at home and he said;

DS1:"Mum, its not clothes is it???" (he does not and has never considered clothes as gifts!)
Me: "Hmmm....dont know, might be!"
Ds1: "Mum (stern look) I dont like clothes! Thats not a treat!!"
Me: "But clothes are v expensive and we need them to keep warm"
Ds1: "Not me! I could use leaves to cover my man parts"

He then offererd to fashion me some pants out of leaves, twigs and mud!

Grin

Have a good weekend everyone x

You know what is the most important aspect of 'support' here?

You lot have high expectations of ME! And of each other.

That has been the single most useful 'support'.
