Hi all,

Gambados for us again tonight so thought I'd start early. Also just wanted a chat really! Smile

My third one didn't hold off, delivered in 3 h from first contraction.

hazeyjane · 10/02/2012 14:33

hello, dds are having a 'snowday' (ie watching films, drinking hot chocolate), while I am stuck on the sofa with ds asleep on my arm. he is slightly better than earlier in the week, but very sleepy and his eyes are glued up with eye-snot - he is not at his most delightful!

I have spent the morning, sorting out appointments, and updating ds's social diary (!) and have discovered that someone has ordered a repeat of the horrendous blood tests we had done last month, grrrr. What with this and the awful, patronising doctor we saw at hospital yesterday, I have had my fill of this week.

IndigoBell · 10/02/2012 14:46

Hi.

Notmuch to reporthere, but happy to chat.

moosemama · 10/02/2012 15:09

A very early good evening to you all. Smile

Not much to report here either Indigo.

Things much the same as they were last week, with the addition of copious amounts of snot from dh, dd and ds1.

Ds1 is still all over the place and we still don't have a clue why. Confused I am still not doing well myself and am now officially sick of the view from my sofa.

Boys are on an INSET day today and have been holed up in their room in their pjs watching Clone Wars dvds for most of the day. Think they both really needed a pj day.

My dd was number three and she was delivered in an hour and a half from first contraction to torpedo style arrival. Blooming mws wouldn't believe I was in real labour either and were just about to inject me with muscle relaxant because apparently they couldn't be real contractions and be coming that thick and fast that quickly (think off the scale and no breaks in between them). I'd been trying not to push for half an hour when I finally got them to examine me - then it was total panic stations as I wasn't even in a delivery room. Angry

Starlight, I can't believe what they are telling you - well unfortunately I can, but really, how ridiculous! What do they do if someone isn't booked in there but goes into labour whilst visiting or something - turn them away and tell them to cross their legs? Angry

Ah, I'm not worried tbh. This is arguably the LEAST trouble I've had with the NHS in the last couple of years and suspect all I need to do is find the right person to talk to.

Agnes, I don't think I would make it back to my 'old' hospital but I coukd get as far as where I gave birth last time and they are very accommodating and can take over my care I think regardless. So, given the attitudes of the new place this is probably now my plan.

Just to worry you further, DS3 popped out 20 mins, (yes, really 20 mins) after I woke up at 1.30am. I didn't even want a home birth.

I've got a couple of friends coming to stay the night, to break up their journey to the airport from Cornwall, so it's takeaway curry here tonight, yay.

Hope everyone is looking forward to/not dreading too much half term.

insanityscratching · 10/02/2012 16:02

So jealous on 20 minutes and home birth Ellen. my number 3 was 10 days late induced and arrived 15 hours after first contractions whilst obstetrician paced wanting me to ELCS like I'd had time previously for breech birth.

insanityscratching · 10/02/2012 16:08

Anyone want to translate "LA have no argument in principle to amending ds's statement" but are not intending to get any recent assessments made instead will be using information provided by current school.
Does that mean they are ready to roll over, agree to recommendations by independent experts and ds's school or are they going to throw something nasty at me later?

StarlightDicKenzie · 10/02/2012 16:08

Lol. Okay so it will take anything from 20mins to 15 hours!

Before that I have to find a property, move, apply to a school for dd, have a tribunal and have a bath!

Insanity, I have no idea. Write to them and tell them you'd like them to rewrite the letter in plain English clarifying the points you have raised here.

OP posts:
StarlightDicKenzie · 10/02/2012 16:13

Don't be afraid of looking stupid (you don't btw, this is a cheap tactic, or perhaps just LA waffle they have learned to believe in) but even stupid parents are entitled to be clear about what is going on.

OP posts:
insanityscratching · 10/02/2012 16:15

Oh I don't mind looking stupid Star it's a tactic I employ effortlessly Grin

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 10/02/2012 16:17

That's really putting your nesting instinct to the test, Star! Grin

20 mins with no-one there but Dickhead until the ambulance arrived 10 mins later isn't something I'd recommend, TBH! Gosh, it's been ages since I've been able to share that story with someone who doesn't already know. Blush

The snow has nearly all melted here, boo. I spent the whole of my delightful lunchtime supervision hour feeling like Scrooge as I kept having to shout, 'Keep off the snow, no, don't throw snowballs, no, not even if they like it...'

insanityscratching · 10/02/2012 16:18

No solicitor in office today so I can't ask her to clarify.

LEA plan to issue a working document after AR which will be ready about the same time our own working document will be ready.

Not sure how they are going to draft one using only school reports though Confused

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 10/02/2012 16:18

Sorry, insanity, I read that as a rhetorical question. Let's just hope they're going to roll over...

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 10/02/2012 16:19

hospital sounds good star Hmm hope you get them sorted.

moose, my first was the same as your third, I'd never seen a midwife move so quickly when she finally believed I was in labour and thought I would deliver on the ward!

ellen, sounds like a good evening Smile My second was an unplanned homebirth, she was born just after midnight, neighbours must have loved me Grin

not a great week here, dd3 has had a temperature since saturday, she managed school on wednesday but has been home for the rest of the week, dh has pneumonia and ds1 and ds2 have both been ill this week too. Ds2 (2) has figured out how to use dh's nerf gun [sigh] and that's not a typo, dh has a nerf gun, just so ds1 has someone to battle with apparently Hmm And all of a sudden I'm feeling broody again Grin

insanityscratching · 10/02/2012 16:19

Ellen did you get no warning?

I have epic long labours I can't imagine getting to that point without hours of huffing and puffing.

Ineedalife · 10/02/2012 16:21

Well, its Friday night again,

Dd3 is finally getting over the bug she has had for 2 weeks, although she has been extremely tired this week.

I have had a really tough week at work, trying to manage some interesting children.

Went on a really good course yesterday with work about observing children from an SEN point of view. It was very enlightening[sp].

Am planning on a quiet week, some days out and DVD's hopefully, hope everyone has a good half termSmile.

StarlightDicKenzie · 10/02/2012 16:22

Ds 12 hours, dd 6 hours. Hoping for 3 hours!

OP posts:
insanityscratching · 10/02/2012 16:25

Ds1 28hours, ds2 ELCS, dd1 15hours, ds3 18hours, dd2 16 hours.

Obviously not cut out for labour, syntocin each time too.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 10/02/2012 16:28

I only do fast labours, insanity. DS1 was 6 hours, DS2, 4 hours but at least I go to hospital with 45 mins to spare. No chance with DS3. No warning at all, I was fast asleep, my waters broke with a pop which woke me, contractions immediately continuous and strong and out he came at 10 to 2. Very shocking, no-one to apgar score him, but he cried after a couple of very long seconds and pinked up. It was only then I realised how blue he'd been. Anyway, he's now my robust, quirky 9 yo. Smile

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 10/02/2012 16:30

Ninja, have our birth stories put you off the broodiness?

HaveYouTakenLeaveOfYourCervix · 10/02/2012 16:32

Thank Feck Its Friday! and I'm off for the weekend, which is a Good Thing as I am knackered!

Had a meeting at DDs school yesterday - the plan is that they tell DD she has to go to school, and she will. Now, Why didn't I think of that? Unsurprisingly she didn[t go in today. I got a call yesterday from the Healthy Minds team. the earliest they can see her is middle of March. Also got DDs report this week which was crap.

Labours - DD1 5 hours, DD2 1 hour. That was the easy bit!

Is it too early for Wine?

insanityscratching · 10/02/2012 16:34

Oh so jealous, both my sisters have fast labours but I obviously haven't got the knack.
