FAR too much to catch up on, so HELLO EVERYONE !!

STAR- I gave birth to DS in totally the wrong hospital as it's where I was when he appeared- I think if you turn up they have to help....don't they ?

Intending to have a lovely quiet couple of days as DH is off for the weekend. I have a couple of DVDs to watch (and a small bottle of gin) Smile

Insanity, fast labours aren't all they're cracked up to be. Its such a huge shock to the system and of my 3 labours, the most painful.

Ds1 was three blooming painful days, stuck back to back and ended up with an epidural (was told it was either that or a cs, due to my muscles refusing to relax) syntocin and then ventouse.

Ds2 was a lovely relaxed labour, iirc around 15 hours long and got to hospital with less than an hour before he was born - just G&A with him and he's always been the easiest of my 3 dcs.

Dd was breech up until the afternoon before, turned by consultant, spent all night sitting bolt upright to stop her turning again (she was a real spinner and constantly moving from ceph to breech). Induced mid morning the next day. Had first dose, went for a walk to the post office, came back, still in the side room where they do observations and inductions ( basically just an empty room with two bed divided by a curtain in) first contraction started and it went from 0-60 in about half a second. Poor woman on the other side of the curtain looked really scared (it was her first). Huge shock, no pain relief and no-one would listen to me. Dh was stressing because they wouldn't listen to him telling them that I'd done this twice before and if I said I was ready to push then I was ready to push. Mw goes on break, another one walks in with a syringe of muscle relaxant, twigs straight away, agrees to examine me and all of a sudden there's two mws plus people careering into the room with various trolleys and equipment. Dd arrived about half a minute later torpedo stylee, shot out on to the bed complete with her sac and waters, which promptly burst, leaving her in the caul and everyone else soaking wet! Grin Quite a dramatic entrance really - and she hasn't changed much since then. Grin

Ninja, sorry to hear about all the illness in your house at the moment, hope everyone's better soon.

outofbodyexperience · 10/02/2012 16:51

i have a large bottle of gin, but it's not even 10am here, so i'd better hold off.

i'm really crap at childbirth, so won't join that discussion. Grin

soooooo, all of our referrlas have come at once. dd2 has physiatrist in two weeks at neuromotor clinic, ds1 has camhs equiv the week after, and paed's next week.

and have a had a really crappy busy week, but i think it's over now. and i'm actually getting my hair cut this morning. i haven't been able to leave the house without people running screaming in the opposite direction and even the dogs are giving me startled looks. i will be shorn and slightly more relaxed later, and try and catch up once you've all gone to bed Grin (am v amused at the timing. you might even all still be here when i get back Grin)

And for all you visual learners out there:

There were two fish in a tank,

I'm basically rubbish at getting to 10 cms but I can do the pushing pretty reasonably, no drawn out pushing thank God.

I visited my sisters in delivery suite and they looked all serene and peaceful (one delivered in ambulance on way twenty minutes after midwife had said she wasn't in labour) and other had to have babe fished out of her leggings as she only got as far as the booking in room.

Me? I look like a wreck bright red, hair plastered to face and knackered.

Evening outofbody, sounds like you are in for a busy couple of weeks again. Better get stuck into some of your lovely beany soups to fortify yourself.

Did you manage to stay upright skiing classic style?

HaveYouTakenLeaveOfYourCervix · 10/02/2012 17:06

I have gloves at the ready if your tent is going to be pitched anywhere near here Grin

HI Ham Hexhausted! Hvae had a shower and am in my pyjamas already

insanityscratching · 10/02/2012 17:06

I'm trying to take my mind off he fact dd's at a party and I've not stayed with her so it's distracting me from my urge to phone check.

Also trying not to brood on the fact it's ds's 17th birthday tomorrow and all the differences between him and other 17 year olds.

insanityscratching · 10/02/2012 17:08

Anybody else find birthdays difficult?

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 10/02/2012 17:09

Just got back from picking (robust, quirky) DS3 up from the Valentine disco, which he told me was a bit boring. Too much dancing, apparently. Hmm

What have I missed?

moosemama · 10/02/2012 17:09

I think we started off trying to be reassuring and supportive to Star and it kind of went downhill from there. Sorry! Grin Blush

Star, lots of asteroid related names here. Grin

silverfrog · 10/02/2012 17:10

which hospital in new area is being hopeless, Star? (might be on my list too - I never seem to live near hospitals! mind you, not a problem for me, as I am crap at childbirth too - 36 hours with dd1 (in proper established labour) and still hadn't progressed beyond about 4cm dilated... dd2 was about 4 hours with nothing happening before they agreed with me there wa slittle point and so I had another CS. going straight for the CS this time - can't be doing with all that faffing for little point)

not much to report this week in the silverfrog household - all contnues as normal.

I shoudl be doing mega-loads of housework, as have guests this weekend, but, erm, I'm not. oh well.

Birthdays, yes, difficult. No friends to invite to a party, and he doesn't like anything partyish. It's DS1's birthday 4 days after DS2's so the contrast is extreme.

moosemama · 10/02/2012 17:13

Fancy dancing at a disco - what were they thinking? Grin

Ds2 loves a good mosh dance, but ds1 is horrified by the mere thought of it. This is not helping him in PE at the moment, as not only are they learning Tudor dances, but - heaven forbid - they have to dance with GIRLS! [SHOCK]

Becaroooo · 10/02/2012 17:16

Ds1 = 20 hours
Ds2 = 4 days

Both 2nd stages v quick though...5-6 pushes and they were both out! Both had apgars of 9 at birth (they both "failed" on "grimace")

Ds1 shot out so quickly the MW nearly dropped him! (just the first instance of their shit care as it turned out Sad)

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 10/02/2012 17:16

thanks moose Smile I think somehow I will never be allowed to forget this pneumonia dh has . . . every time he so much as sniffs he will remind me of this week Grin

ellen, my own birth stories should be enough to put me off, none of them have exactly gone to plan!

insanity, yep I find birthdays hard, they just point out exactly how different dd3 is and how far behind she is, it's particularly hard right now as her 2 year old brother is streaks ahead of her Sad

insanityscratching · 10/02/2012 17:17

I keep thinking we bought the others their driving licenses and driving lessons Sad

Becaroooo · 10/02/2012 17:17

moose Is he in Y4? Ds1 had to do tudor dancing last term and HATED it Grin

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 10/02/2012 17:18

Zzzzz, perhaps you could teach her a thing or two about epilepsy? Grin

What DS3 thought they'd be doing at a disco...?

moosemama · 10/02/2012 17:18

zzzzz, I am so with you on the professionals visiting at home. We have the EP coming this week as part of ds1's SA and I'm already stressing about the flipping housework. Not helped by my realisation today of just how many times I have to wipe the same surfaces every day when the dcs are off school. No point it doing the housework until the evening before, because it will all be undone again within the hour if the dcs are still awake. Hmm

Fortunately the EP is lovely and we already know her, so I suppose it could have been worse.
