I didnt realise I had an email late tonight. Supposed to be amended for me to view and comment (second amended)which I was supposed to get yesterday.

However they have emailed me a finalised statement with original on way in post.

After all the debating and battling I have read through the statement and I have to say everything is in order and requested amendments made. Salt is not in there yet which is understandable due to know report yet. But I do have their promise in email form saying they will amend this statement once this is in regardless of being finalised or not. They have phoned the school stating that there are further amendments regarding this report also.

It will also be reviewed again March/April time so that is only a few months away (due to getting things sorted for Juniors)

Now for the quantifying and specifying business. This is what the statement now shows in Part 3.

"DS will have a high level of targeted adult support for a minimum of 25 hours per week."

I am over the moon this is here baring in mind I had nothing showing to start with.

Would you accept this? Please say yes LOL

How will any social skills. OT work be carried out, when, how long for and by whom?
Treehose have a example statement on their website.

wasuup3000 · 14/12/2011 23:06

Well you did ask??

coff33pot · 14/12/2011 23:08

Ok so I need to contact them tomorrow and perhaps ask them to put

DS will have a high level of targeted TA support for a minimum of 25 hours per week on a sole 1 to 1 basis" ??

He is receiving full 1 to 1 now so that is what I am trying to word in.

OP posts:
wasuup3000 · 14/12/2011 23:10

What qualifications and training do y ou want the TA to have?

coff33pot · 14/12/2011 23:11

In the provision it has listed various social skills, group work, sensory work in terms of minutes and how many times a day if thats what you mean?

This line quantifying the 25 hours is separate to that?

Where appropriate, the strategies should explicitly state:
ï‚· what support is required (e.g. speech and language therapy, 1-1 teaching)
ï‚· how long for (e.g. 1 hour)
ï‚· how often (e.g. throughout the school day, once a week) and
ï‚· who should give it (e.g. OT, SLT, teacher with experience in ASD)
?Provision should be described in such a way as to leave no room for doubt about what is to be
provided, who will provide it and how it will be delivered.?6
It can also stipulate how often the child?s various needs should be re-assessed and by whom.

Copied from the treehouse template^^

coff33pot · 14/12/2011 23:13

I originally asked for them to put a qualified experienced TA with a minimum of 2 years SN/Autism experience?

But they wont put that as they say the school would be hard pushed to hire/employ anyone at that level down here and so DS could be without support

I can understand it where I live as we lack in everything to be honest.....

DS will have a high level of targeted TA support that has received adequate training in Special Needs, for a minimum of 25 hours per week on a sole 1 to 1 basis" ??

OP posts:
wasuup3000 · 14/12/2011 23:29

:) Unsure about the need for the word sole?

coff33pot · 14/12/2011 23:32

no I dont need sole that is me thinking in my head of doubly making sure the TA is only for him Grin

Ok soooo
"DS will have a high level of targeted TA support WHO has received adequate training in Special Needs, for a minimum of 25 hours per week on a 1 to 1 basis"

Ok well see what others say in the morning and sleep on it. experience maybe better than training? and what special needs as there are a huge amount of special needs?

coff33pot · 14/12/2011 23:39

hmm yes.

My reasoning is that DS has not been diagnosed officially with ASD so I cant put that till that happens (they could argue that point fairly even though all referrals state ASD)

And so I think I need to take the wider angle of SN? Also If they wont put experienced due to not being able to employ and I put adequate training then the school or the LA would be responsible to train the TA prior to working with DS?

Trying to be crafty but heads gone now :)

"DS will have a high level of targeted TA support WHO has received adequate training in Special Needs, for a minimum of 25 hours per week on a 1 to 1 basis and occasional small group work"

Final offer before bed will look at it in a new light tomorrow :)

Hmm, I was going to insist on 2 years experience and relevant training on ds's statement until someone pointed out that the only 2 people who had that relevant experience in school were the 2 who mishandled him so very badly in the last year he was at ms school, causing him to have night terrors, increased aggression and school refusal.

Yes, adequate training to be embarked upon within xx weeks of starting work with ds would be good.

coff33pot · 15/12/2011 13:33

Shock trying! your poor ds! And they were supposed to be the experience ones Confused

I hope your ds is much happier now bless him.
