Just heard from school ds is the inn keeper in the nativity play... Grin He has been shouting "NO ROOM HERE!!!!" at the top of his voice Grin.

well the instruction did say 'a loud clear voice' LOL Grin

Of course at the time he may say something completely random like 'i love my red ds', but he is there and he has a speaking part... I thought he would be a sheep or an angel, so he could wander off if he wanted... but I think they have really thought about this, because the inkeeper comes on, says his bit and then can go. (and it is only reception so it won't be too busy.. Hmm ).

Never thought I would get to see this... Grin we will wait and see what happens..... Hmm.

If it's any consolation, my DS3 (NTish) has been cast as..... a donkey. Who says he's not been type cast? Do you think that as he soils himself each day at school that they were thinking 'manure' ? Grin

dontrememberme · 24/11/2011 17:25

brilliant, get the camera & tissues at the ready Grin

dontrememberme · 24/11/2011 17:31

sign - Can you go in disguise, a fake beard & dark glasses so that your ds doesnt see you, maybe dressed as a xmas tree Grin

sphil · 24/11/2011 18:34

Tallwiv - he was promoted to 'posh shoe' at the last minute when child went off sick Grin

Ben10WasTheSpawnNowWeLoveLego · 24/11/2011 19:07

Wow, DS has volunteered to take a speaking part as "child 2" in Christmas and the Aliens as the original child doesn't want to do it Grin. This is a really really big deal for him as he normally hates people looking at him

Now to get him to learn his couple of lines :)

Ben10WasTheSpawnNowWeLoveLego · 24/11/2011 19:17

I've just remembered that he was "cucumber" in the Reception Christmas production Grin. This is a CoE school but seems to choose Christmas plays rather than straight nativities Hmm.

Ben10WasTheSpawnNowWeLoveLego · 24/11/2011 19:18

At nursery, he was "bauble" and "robot" Grin.

Tiggles · 24/11/2011 19:56

Over tea time all 3 DSs were arguing over what words the innkeeper said as obviously their own play has it right.

signandsmile · 25/11/2011 07:33

Grin at the cucumber and robot! all the class are signing as well as singing one of the songs, apart from DS Blush (the original signer) who is so in love with the numbers on the CD player he can't think of anything else... Hmm.

although he did sing it and sign it to me this morning in bed Grin (cue moist eyed mummy!)

The DSes have received their parts! Ds1 is Roald Dahl - quite a big part and given, I think, because of his adult demeanour and habit of wearing his glasses on the end of his nose Grin
Ds2 is 'either a sheep or a cow'.

What a stupid way of choosing parts - your poor DS! Ds1 would have been exactly the same at that age in that situation - confused and indecisive and would have ended up with a part no-one else wanted!

verybusyspider · 02/12/2011 20:01

argh! ds1 (5 ASD traits) upset that he was a shepherd and now he's a servant - why why why would you (the school) do this when you are the ones who tell me how he can't deal with change or a change in the routine?? ffs, everytime we talk about school production his eyes well up - roll on school holidays

sleep - big hugs x

to OP - great news about your ds, i hope you enjoy the performance Smile

ds is now singing all the songs for the show complete with their numbers on the CD (as that's the best bit Hmm) only singing them in random situtations of course, not at actual practices. Xmas Grin It's on Tuesday, so we shall see...

DS is staying home. Tried the play bit couple years ago and the stage collapsed (only small box style) and the audience laughed. DS yelled its not funny and ran for it. He was only in the sidelines but 2 years on he wont do it and they have a hard time this week as every parent he sees coming in to see practice he is scowling at and he is not even in it. Saw the stage being put up and now walks around the edge of the wall of the whole hall incase it falls down again Grin

signandsingcarols · 06/12/2011 16:04

Well.... Tuesday has come....

I have mixed feelings, I am proud of the fact he managed to come into the hall, and sit with his TA and not get too uspet, Smile and he did (tearfully) say his line, but it got too much and he got really upset and had to go out with his TA. Sad he missed his favourite two songs and he missed his clap from the parents, it's silly I am sure getting clapped would have upset him even more, but I am still sad he missed it. Sad Sad

I know I should be feeling glad that he managed so much, a year ago I never would have thought he would, (and I am glad) but also sad as well....

you know, that weird mix of feelings....

TheNinjaGooseIsARoasting · 06/12/2011 16:32

hugs sign, it's a huge rollercoaster this sn lark isn't it! I remember last year being so pleased dd3 could take part but she really didn't have a clue what was going on like the other dcs which didn't feel so great. Your ds has come so far recently, you have a lot to proud of and well done him for saying his line Xmas Smile

coff33pot · 06/12/2011 19:36

He did it!! Grin He is a very brave little boy in my book. DS wont do anything of the sort.

I can understand the mixed feeling though and send you hugs xx

Tiggles · 06/12/2011 21:16

There is hope! DS1 (9) who couldn't go on stage for any of his plays from Nursery to Year 1, cried through year 2 performance although stayed on stage and walked around when necessary. Has just sung a solo as Joseph! I am in shock. Incredibly proud. But there is definitely hope for all children if DS can do it!

signandsingcarols · 06/12/2011 21:29

thanks guys, Grin I knew you would understand.

The head got them to stand up in their groups for their applause from the parents, and I think he probably won't manage the full play tomorrow either (when dh is going, cos I am at college) I am gonna ask if misses standing up for his clap with the other inn keepers if the head will give him one of her special stickers later in the day. (he does like a sticker! Xmas Grin).

AgnesDiPesto · 06/12/2011 21:53

Ours is tomorrow
Am very apprehensive
Already done a dress rehearsal and according to his brothers who got to watch it that went ok. DS stood up when he should be sitting down, sat down when he should be standing up and tried to crawl off stage before the end as he got bored. But did the actions very enthusiastically. No meltdowns so thats good.
Am worried he might have peaked too soon and actually he's had enough of it now as obviously being watched by parents isn't going to float his boat like the other kids.

signandsingcarols · 07/12/2011 18:11

Xmas Grin Xmas Grin Xmas Grin had second go at play today, (dh went with grandma) and ds managed to stay in for the whole thing, without tears Xmas Grin.so proud of him.

Ok he was a bit random, (lead on stage and snored quietly at one point) and sat down in Mary's seat next to Joseph, so she and baby Jesus had to stand up, (not chivalrous my son, Blush Grin) but he stayed, he sang and he was not upset... (and the other mums were really sweet about how well he had done.)

I am so proud of him.... my little inn keeper with his luminous ear defenders, Xmas Wink

OnTheBen10DaysofChristmas · 07/12/2011 19:01

DS did his today and his lines were absolutely clear Xmas Grin. He's come a long way from hiding behind the curtain and lying down and falling asleep in nursery :) He moved away everytime he saw my face which was funny.

He wants me to delete the video I did though - fat chance of that happening!!
