Where did the week go? there have been some lovely bits to the week, first birthday party with kids from school and ds was a star, bless him!

we went to nanny's and ds was careful with the new cousin, and we went to a cafe today and ds played with the toys and sat nicely, Grin.

Ds loves standing on the scales (cos it shows your weight in a digital display) I asked him today 'ds what do you weigh?' his reply was 'my feet!' Grin PMSL.

I was off next week for my 4 days away, (ds and dh planned to within an inch of their lives Grin) however, I have a broken tooth Sad and I need to have it out, so I will need to get it done on Tues, and thus go a day later... Sad [cross]. BUM!

Ah well, at least I still get to go eh? my MiL asked what I was planning to do, my reply 'b*gger all!' Grin

how have all your weeks been? how are preparations for returns to school?

unfortunately DS3 is still ill. He's upstairs in his room crying as he wants to eat more (he had some cheerios and milk), but I don't dare give him anything else or he'll puke it all back up again - not even sure he'll hold the cheerios down! Sad

DS2 is absolutely wired right up to the eyeballs and will NOT listen to anything he's told. I can't find the stupid flicker flashlight of DS3's so I've given him DS2's, but that only means I've postponed the meltdown as DS2 will want it when he goes to bed. With any luck DS3 will fall asleep by then and I can sneak it from his room.

There's no way I'll catch up on the stuff I need to get done this weekend - paperwork, correspondence, laundry, cleaning - as I can't do much of it when I've got both boys up, and can't do some of it at night (correspondence as all the files and everything are upstairs) and the boys wake up at almost any noise.

Just waiting for DS3 to start throwing up again. Probably make it start just from the crying, but what am I supposed to do?!? His tummy is simply not holding things down well. Can't give him more food yet.... argghhhh!!!!!!

sob sob I want my Wine

Ineedalife · 28/10/2011 18:27

Sorry your Dd is having such a bad time zzzz, hope you manage to get her seizures backs under control soon.

Moose, there is a small farm with a water wheel and museum of farming bits, a play area and then there is the main house, servants quarters, another museum with toys and clothes and loads of grounds and walks.

There is also a land train and bus ride to and from the car park. This and scrubbing the clothes in the laundry were Dd3's favourite bits. They had some quizzes on this week for halloween which she quite enjoyed too, things like looking for pictures of ghosts in the different rooms.

Tbh I wouldn't pay full price to get in it is expensive!! We had some tesco vouchers to use so didn't pay.

We prefer conkers for Dd3 but we haven't been as much this year because she got a bit routiney about itSmile.

IndigoBell · 28/10/2011 18:33

Moose - have you just started being gluten free? Or am I confusing you with someone else? How's gluten free going? And do you think it's helping?

moosemama · 28/10/2011 18:38

Creatovator, craft show sounds good. I'm in the market for a crafty hobby, if you have any suggestions.

Oh Triggles, I wish I could come round and help. I really feel for you. Have you tried just plain toast or plain biscuits for ds3 and witholding milk? That tends to work for my lot.

Ineed, thanks. It does sound like there's a fair bit to go at then, but I wibbled at the full price too. Ds1 loves museums though, so the more the merrier on a day out as far as he's concerned and ds2 and dd love those little trains. Will keep it on the list as definite maybe. Grin

Ds1 absolutely loves Conkers, but the interactive part was really run-down last time we went, so we've avoided all his nagging requests to go there since. Its been a year-ish now though, so I suppose they might have tidied things up a bit.

moosemama · 28/10/2011 18:44

Indigo, ds1 has been gluten free for just over a year now. Its definitely helped his digestive issues and there were quite a few developmental leaps early on as well - although they could have been going to happen anyway I suppose.

The problem we have now is that he's so super-sensitive to even the tiniest smidge of gluten now that he gets nasty reactions from just a bit of cross-contamination. Big problem in this house, because the kitchen is tiny and I don't have anywhere to store his food seperately. Just a mouthful of biscuit he was told was gf but wasn't gave him horrible red sores around his mouth and an absent minded mouthful of soda bread on holiday this year resulted in two weeks of horrendous digestive problems.

I suppose the occasional gluten insult serves to remind us that we're on the right path, but its horrible for him to go through. I really wish I could have a go at GAPs with him, but there's just no way he'd handle it, he already gets upset at not being able to eat the same as his peers.

Chundle · 28/10/2011 18:45

oh dear trig sounds like you having a tough time :(

zzzzzz i replied to your thread on ketogenic diet are you still considering it? sorry to hear dd is poorly :(

creator shes under a developmental paed and has portage but has now been discharged from physio and OT (lack of funds) and SALT (her understanding is too good) paed thought last tme dyspaxic and autistic traits so its a waiting game now

Wine Wine Wine Wine for everyone

Chundle · 28/10/2011 18:47

oh yes forgot to add DD2 ate 3 holly berries today Shock so doing a watch and wait at the mo!

Triggles · 28/10/2011 18:55

Okay. Brought DS3 down, let him eat a banana. He wanted a tea cake as well, and I told him no. He is now throwing the mother of all tantrums upstairs as he wants to come back downstairs and "watch telly and eat teacake." Hmm

DS2 is climbing all over me asking 50 million questions and insisting he wants to watch kids tv (I've changed it over to news, as I don't want it to be "interesting" and encourage them to stay awake). He's also singing "Santa Claus is Coming to Town." This will be his official song which he will sing over and over for the next few days (weeks?) until another one strikes his fancy. Grin

So tempted to use his ear defenders. Waiting for neighbours to complain......but it's just temper, he's mad as he wants to watch telly and not go to bed. (that telltale pause before he goes off again, then pause, then scream)

Triggles · 28/10/2011 19:00

chundle - hope your DD2 is okay - don't remember specifically about holly berries, but seem to recall they're not good to eat.

sorry to be such a frustrated downer tonight... going to go hide in my corner and try to stay sane.

Chundle · 28/10/2011 19:01

trig much sympathy i have a singer in the house but unfortunatley its justin bloody bieber "baby, baby, baby, OOOHHHH" damn it! id much prefer santa claus :)

signandsmile · 28/10/2011 19:02

moose I have been making paper beads... quick (so I can do them in between being needed, Wink and easy and cheap, only scraps of paper, and glue, Iv'e been making them from paper ds has made patterns on, (made some fab earings for the teacher and TA), also from old maps so people can have jewellery from places that are special to them.

I'm sure it must be on the web how to do it... or pm me,

zzz goodnight mate have a good one - let the paed deal with all the ins and outs of eveything dont stress too much - if possible :)

moosemama · 28/10/2011 19:21

Ooo that sounds interesting sign.

Are they like these

This site looks useful as well.

Lol, just stuck my curry (home made, low fat lentil and sweet potato, not takeaway) down next to ds1 and he ran away screaming. That boy has such a sensitive nose!

signandsmile · 28/10/2011 19:26

yeah moose that's the thing. (also if you vary the shape of the strip you get different shape beads, tear drops, tubes, etc) . I never seem to get more than 5 mins together, so anything more complex doesn't get started...

OP posts:
Chundle · 28/10/2011 19:30

moose maybe he was screaming at how healthy it was :)

Triggles · 28/10/2011 19:31

moose - lol about the curry. Sounds yummy though. Bowl of cheerios here for tea. bleah... but if I ever get these boys to sleep, then I'm going to toss together a couple burritos and relax with a non-alcoholic beer. (yes, I know, but it's all I have)

dammit...dog's barking now....

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 28/10/2011 19:34

I love lentil curry!

Triggles, don't worry, just get to the end of the day Smile

moosemama · 28/10/2011 19:35

Thanks for the idea sign, I am tempted to have a go at that. Dd loves jewellery ....

Oh! I have to stop a second. I have just seen something amazing. Ds1 has just broken off from what he was doing in the kitchen, come into the living room where I am and sat on the floor to stroke the dog! He never even acknowledges their presence, let alone fusses them. I wonder what brought that on? Confused

He's gone to scrub his hands now of course, but blimey - what a turn up for the books! Grin

Sorry, back to the paper beads ... dd loves jewellery, but at 2.7 is forever snapping her bracelets etc and losing all the beads. I'm thinking I could make her some jewellery for christmas, keep some spare beads and then repair them if and when she breaks them.

I used to enjoy doing beading on a loom before I had the dcs. I found it very relaxing and made some really nice chokers and bracelets for christmas gifts. I'd make paper bead gifts for christmas, but unfortunately the majority of people I have to give to are on dh's side and seriously wouldn't appreciate it.

moosemama · 28/10/2011 19:39

Chundle, you could be onto something there - he has egg and chips, prepared by dh, because I am being a lazy moose taking the opportunity to escape for half and hour. Dh was so not impressed that tea wasn't ready when he came home though. Meh!

Ninja, I'd offer you some, but I've just scoffed the lot! Made it yesterday, so it was the leftovers really. Curries always taste better on the second day though, so it was actually nicer tonight.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 28/10/2011 19:44

Hello, back from the toads! Non veggie, I'm afraid moose. But I love lentil curry, too.

Triggles, I'd agree to avoid milk for DS3, stick to dry toast, and apples are supposed to be good.

Everyone has written so much I'm a bit behind. Sorry about the croup, Justa.

Ninja, what's Asda gin like?

slowburner · 28/10/2011 19:58

Evening all, I've posted before but not for a while.

Had a week which started fun, got horrendously shockingly shite on Tuesday when our physio suddenly turned round after attempting to discharge my DD who gets bugger all access to therapy anyway and said she had all the signs of hemi CP. Still feel sick thinking about it.

Wednesday I got a 24 hour bug. Thursday I tried to fit 4 days work into 1 day while researching therapy for DD, at the moment we have been told that we can pass her stuff to her right side not her left, and get her to push stuff, oh and they'll consider casting but not until she is much older. Left shell shocked as we had been told that the right sided stiffness, was just stiffness, and not CP. She is now walking since 13months, giggling, uses both arms and hands, delay to her right but she throws balls, passes, claps, even eats with it when her dolly is held in her left hand!

Bloody woman almost seemed happy to have told us.

But then today DD had a fab time at nursery, ate well, slept well, I got a positive almost glowing report from my boss on my latest research plan, we have steak for dinner and I've lost another pound on my diet.

Wishing everyone a peaceful weekend, that kids feel better, that wine (and gin) is plentiful without headaches and that next week is a better week for all x

creatovator · 28/10/2011 20:05

Popped back in for quick couple of minutes.

Sorry for all those having a lousy time. Hope everything gets better.

Sign those beads sound great. Will have a look at the link too.

Chundle Ds has been signed off everyone too. Lack of funds seems to be the excuse reason. I was gently persistent and went through councillors to try to get somewhere. The school were amazing too and we everntually got an OT programme in there in Ds' class and they've been able to observe Ds and suggest things for him. Gave up on SALT in the end (the school and me doing it ourselves and making good progress (pats ourselves on the back)) Wink. (Doing my MSc in Autism and school is excellent unit for AS kids). We tried to get private OT, but there aren't any around where we live Sad.

Got to go again.

Will catch up with news tomorrow.

Night night.
