well..... an emotional week at chez sign, the last ever portage visit, Sad, both portage teacher and i were sniffing, Hmm handed over ds crafted pressies.Grin Wink Ds has done brill work with emotional skills stuff, (thank you for letting me have a proud mummy moment post)

my students are coming to end of their placements, so it all hots up now for the next month or so,

and we had 'leaver's ceremony' at pre -school today, with that mix of 'how far he has come' Grin and 'how different he is from the other leavers'. Sad. IYSWIM.

Iv'e been revelling in his progress recently, managing to ignore that he is so far behind different from the others going up to big school. Sad and it was so noticable today... oh well, am now firmly removing my eyes from comparisons with other kids and saying 'yay ds, you are doing so well!'

how have all your weeks been?

Ineedalife Great news. As you say.. getting the right school makes such a difference.

How was the camping?

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 15/07/2011 22:16

Well done timetravellersdaughter! Nice to have some positive news!

Ineedalife, I feel strangely proud every time you post something about your DD's new school, because I remember your thread about whether to change!

creatovator · 15/07/2011 22:18

Going to sign off now. Night night everyone.

intothewest · 15/07/2011 22:20

Lots of good news- Too much stuff for my poor brain(and even poorer typing to keep up with !)
All's well in the west house-hours spent in the garden ...and watching the same dvd over and over and over again-
School finally seems to be improving(long may it last)
LOUGLE - good luck with the house thing-I know a couple of people who were in a similar situation and they were helped ny OT reports etc.

The Lego tired you out, creatovator?

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 15/07/2011 22:25

Hi into, how did your night out go last week? Did you make a club?

BialystockandBloom · 15/07/2011 22:30

Oh justa that sounds a tough one. Well, I hope the school is coming up with things that will help. In a way, it's not such a bad thing if the worst/most inappropriate behaviour is directly facing the school (rather than at home) - at least they can't deny that adequate help is really needed.

Uncharacteristically early night for me, but am shattered, so 'night all.

intothewest · 15/07/2011 22:38

Hi - It was LOUD (or I'm old-)but it was good to be out .Yes went to late bar..but not very late as we came back for carer

mariamagdalena · 15/07/2011 23:38

Thought I'd pop in for a quick half. Am full of cold and have laundry scattered everywhere (even more than usual) but have decided to give up chasing the rejected statutory assessment application and am so, so, so relieved that I won't have to think about it any more. Until next time of course... but I'll do that when I'm ready.

Lougle how fab about band 2
sign the problem with them doing really well in any given year is that we just move our mental goalposts and aim for them to progress even faster
justa well done ds for choosing school so you can have help to manage it
Ineed the sports day sounds great. and volleyball is a fun sport to choose

mariamagdalena · 15/07/2011 23:38

and just thought, star, how did ds figure out your name?

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 16/07/2011 09:27

sign, just got a text off my tutor, I passed!!!!!!!! Yay Grin

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 16/07/2011 09:55

That's great, Ninja. I was a bit worried it was hospital test results or something! What have you passed?

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 16/07/2011 10:01

nothing quite so important ellen, just my tuesday evening on my own bsl level 2 course Grin

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 16/07/2011 10:21

Well done, Ninja! Grin Whoo hoo! My DH and I have got Stage 1 but never progressed on from there. Even during the exam I 'read' Monty the dog as Minty, but those finger spelling vowels are tricky. Your DS or DD is deaf? I can't remember. My godson is deaf, which is why I did the Stage 1, (before DS2 was born,) so that my friend had some company and I could babysit with confidence. My friend went on to do Stage 2 and she said it was a lot harder. I don't get much practise these days so I'm forgetting it, unfortunately.

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 16/07/2011 10:51

thanks ellen Smile the vowels are normally what trip me up still Hmm I have threatened to write them on my fingers before now. Aww what a lovely friend you are, I'm struggling to get dh to do his level 1! It's my dd3 who's deaf.

EllenJaneisnotmyname · 16/07/2011 11:48

My godson went to a MS school with a very small deaf unit but because most of his friends are hearing he doesn't like to sign himself. He has a 1:1 SSW in a MS secondary now, so he reads signs and lipreads with a small amount of hearing with aids, but is self conscious about signing. Probably a teenage thing. He speaks but you have to know him quite well to understand him. There are so few children locally who are deaf he has hardly any deaf peers. He's also a bit 'spectrummy' but it's hard to tell. He's a really bright boy.

How old is your DD3? I tend to hear more about your DS because he's the same age as my DS2 and on his way to secondary.

Ineedalife · 16/07/2011 16:12

Creatovator, our camping trip was lovely thanx, no sleep on thursday night due to high winds and rain, Dd3 was scared so I stayed awake with her. Bless our little tent it coped really well, no leaks or damage and the rest of the weekend was brilliant, lots of walks and rockpooling and Dd3 and DP swam, I didn't its too cold for me.

Ellen, thankyou, I needed so much support over moving her and this is really the only place I get it. It feels so nice knowing that people know what you are talking about. Grin.

signandsmile · 16/07/2011 17:54

Wahay Ninja! sign jiggles round the living room, signing alternately 'well done' and 'celebrate'! (and hi ellenjane, another signer, Grin)
