Devastated first week on SW

Apologies if this appears dramatic but I am honestly so upset. I've just completed my first week on slimming world and I have put on 5 pounds.

I had 15 suns per day
2 hea
1heb
And free foods etc

I am gutted.

Can't wait for the classes to open back up so I can get a consultant. Although so glad I didn't get weighed at a class today as I burst out crying.

My weight is really getting me down. Sorry for the depressing post.

Hi there - your diet sounds very balanced, sensible and healthy. Weight gain isn't just about what you eat... it could be hormonal, fluid, stress, lack of sleep etc. Keep doing what you are doing and reassess after a month. If things still don't add up, head to your GP to check that everything (e.g. thyroid) is ok. Don't be disheartened - you are doing well.

15 x 7 = 105 syns for the week. I didn't even use 105 syns in my first week.

I use a weekly syn allowance rather than daily.

The 4 people I know who lost stacks of weight with SW put it all back on.
I'm not convinced it's the way to go anyway.

Ofallthebarsinalltheworld · 15/04/2021 18:42

Havehope21 thank you 💐

I have been stressed with everything that's going on and I haven't been sleeping great. I am enjoying cooking from scratch/looking up new food ideas. I've batch cooked lunches for when I go back to work.

I might pop to see my gp anyway as I have been feeling a bit low.

Slimming world is a good way to rethink and take control of your eating habits.

It's not the only system- it's not perfect- but it's a start.

It's made clear to me that I used to eat far too much bread. It's a hard lesson, frankly, but that's been the biggest difference between that and how I always ate.

God I miss bread Sad
Softpebbles · 15/04/2021 19:04

Your don’t need not to have bread. Just account for it surely?

WitchDancer · 15/04/2021 19:06

Don't forget the second rule - everything in moderation (if it's still the same).

I was always a week behind in my weight loss so keep at it and see if it shows up later.

picklemewalnuts · 15/04/2021 19:14

You just don't get much, pebbles.

After your serving of whole meal bread or cereal, a wrap would use all your syns. As would a croissant.

I find it easier to use my healthy extra for bread a couple of times a week, and do without the rest of the time.

Ofallthebarsinalltheworld · 15/04/2021 20:06

Before I started SW, I would hardly eat and when I did it was grabbing all the lovely things like big hunks of crusty bread with cheese, doughnuts etc.

It's definitely opened my eyes and has me eating better. I am lucky that I like fruit, veg etc. And I love cooking.

It's a decent way of learning about fuelling your body, that's for sure.

1983Roxy · 07/05/2021 20:41

If you were feeling faint and dizzy, sounds like you ate too little. Getting the balance is right.
Check James Smith app out, it will give you calories for free and likely 300 calories more than you were eating I would imagine.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/05/2021 22:36

@Ofallthebarsinalltheworld how are you doing now a month or so on

Ofallthebarsinalltheworld · 09/05/2021 00:12

Hi, @Blondeshavemorefun

Thanks for asking 😊 I am loving SW eating much better/water drinking up and moving more/wine drinking down. I feel like my whole mindset and attitude to food has changed. (Fingers crossed it continues 😂)

I have been dropping one pound a week and one week I dropped 6 pounds. Still have a lot of weight to get rid of and definitely could improve more. I am going for one small change at a time.

I am hoping classes start back up soon so I can join.

Hope all is good with you in these crazy times 😊

I would almost swear you haven't been drinking enough water. Get at least 2l down you every day and it'll come off xx
