Struggling right now

Hi, I don’t post often but I’m just looking to see if anyone else is finding it really hard to keep healthy eating at the moment. I am a bit of an emotional eater, and trying to work from home with a preschooler and a year 6 who has autism and demand avoidance issues is taking its toll on me even after just a week (have been wfh since last Thursday). I have been trying to have SW friendly meals but my snacking is out of control and I’m losing the mental motivation to make the meals. I have lost 4 stone so far and dread putting it back on. I know there are bigger things going on but this is a big part of my mental well-being and I am struggling Sad does anyone have an tips or advice, or just feeling in a similar position x

Morning everyone, hope you are all ok.

Good day for me yesterday, made a beef curry with the last bit of our Sunday roast joint. Added peppers and courgette for speed and served with brown rice. I used my syns for 2 Fibre One bars and the leftovers of my toddler's Pom Bears (guilty pleasure Grin).

Not sure what well have tonight yet, maybe salmon with roast potatoes and vegetables to use up what's in the fridge before we go shopping.

The weather had picked up a bit here, so we are managing to get out with the boys more again now. We are right on the edge of Bodmin Moor, so we've been wandering up there to give the two year old a good run. We do that a lot anyway, but it's a great place for social distancing - miles and miles of nothing!

How's everyone doing?

Lyreco · 07/05/2020 08:21

Good morning all . Busy week here and probably still picking away at too many syns .
I tried a tai chai workout this morning from you tube . I liked it at the start but too many ads . Have downloaded an app now to see if that is better .
Haven't been walking much as I have been busy and our roads have got busy with walkers coming from other places . Doesn't entice me out .

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 08/05/2020 06:52

I know what you mean about walking on the roads @Lyreco. When I go out for a run I try to go nice and early when it's not too busy. I find people a bit ignorant though, for example couples walking two abreast when they can see me coming the other way, or people walking on their own slap bang in the middle of the pavement - at least keep to one side! I'm quite happy to dip out into the road or run in the verges to pass people, but don't get me started on rogue dog poo hiding in the grass!

Hope everyone has a good bank holiday weekend. Sending DH to do a big shop today, we basically need everything so he will get in lots of fresh fruit and veg etc.

mcdog · 08/05/2020 20:33

Had a lush steak done on the Bbq for dinner, with Greek salad on the side. Was so nice I felt I had to tell you all!!!!

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 09/05/2020 06:16

@mcdog sounds really nice, I love steak on the bbq.

So today is my weigh in day and I have lost 1.5lbs, which brings me down to 11stone 13.5lbs. My target is 12 stone, so I'm thrilled Smile

It's DH's birthday on Tuesday, but he'll be working from home so we're celebrating a bit today and will do so again on Tuesday. We're having takeaway fish and chips tonight and a pudding selection box from our friend who runs a cake and desert business. Not sure about Tuesday, maybe a lasagne as it's his favourite. In any case, it will be very much off plan!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend. It's forecast to be beautiful weather here today so we'll probably take the boys up on the moor (again!) to stretch our legs.

@mcdog steak sounds lovely . Wd haven't got the bbq out yet but maybe this week .
@istheresomethingwrongwithme congrats on your weight loss that's fantastic .

Hope you have a great week with the birthday celebrations . Lasagne can be on plan and fish and chips can be too if you syn the chips and take off the batter . Lol

I am supposed to weigh myself this morning but I am giving myself a few days grace and getting back to my normal class weigh in day .

Had a lot of crap on Friday but pulled back yesterday. Would love to maintain by Wednesday really . I went to bed at 9.30 pm last night so I wouldn't eat .
Made SW bolagnese yesterday and it was great for dinner and had a jacket potatoe for lunch with salads .

Today is roast beef and tons of veg .

mcdog · 10/05/2020 09:49

@istheresomethingwrongwithme well done, that's a fab range to be in Smile

I was so good yesterday, my will power was sorely tested though by my husbands baking: fresh bread, and cheese scones...bastard GrinGrinI resisted though, so proud of myself!!

knitting75 · 11/05/2020 11:02

Not had best week, should really have been on here with you guys more which would have helped. Still - onward and upward, Monday morning new week. I've maintained so not all bad. Bit of a downer this morning trying to find shorts that weren't tight, finally after alot of self hate and despair I'm in my elasticated granny shorts which my mother kindly donate to me as she's lost weight and they are now "massive" on her (don't you just love how mums make you feel better), only to find although it look sunny outside it's freezing!!! Could have saved myself so heartache.

Started my new week with breakfast with a nice wholemeal cheese on toast, so my B and one of my A choices. Going to do a free soup which will last me a couple of days. Not sure about dinner. Going to get my cook books out for inspiration. Have a good day xx

Lyreco · 12/05/2020 18:15

@knitting75 oh that's tough but let it motivate you to buy some new shorts in smaller size next month .

I'm doing better with syns this week . I hurt my foot though so no walking for a few days .

knitting75 · 13/05/2020 13:50

Hope your foot is a bit better @Lyreco. Feeling more positive, good couple of days. Just made a beef and bean pie with a potato topping ready for dinner tonight, with lots of nice veggies, and I'm making some cup cakes to use my syns on. Getting organised and planning my weekly menu always helps me. 😊

Lyreco · 14/05/2020 20:26

@knitting75 thanks I'm feeling better but still snacking too much . I can't seem to stop . At least my meals are all sw plan food . And I am walking and or doing a home workout .

This may sound stupid but a friend of mine is losing loads of weight . He and I started at the same time . He is doing fantastic and only has another 15 lbs maybe to go . But everyday now he is sending me his activity workout . He is mainly retired has grandkids and way more time than me . He never exercised before and I kind of got him started on walking. Everyday now I am getting a pic of his 10km walks and I'm struggling to even get a 3 km some days . I am genuinely pleased but I'm finding it a bit of a demotivator to me . It should spur me on to do more but I'm not even telling him now what I do . I feel like it's become a competition and I don't do well in that environment.

mcdog · 14/05/2020 22:18

Lost half a pound this week. I will take that as 3 out of 7 days have been dreadful...

mcdog · 14/05/2020 22:20

@Lyreco have you asked him to stop sharing? I thrive with having support, but not if it becomes a competition too.

Lyreco · 15/05/2020 16:43

@mcdog I don't have the heart to tell him really .

Well done on the half lb !
A loss is a win .

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 19/05/2020 05:41

Good morning everyone Smile

Apologies for my radio silence this last week, things have been busy. We enjoyed extended celebrations for DH's birthday, lots of good food and wine so have had a bit of a Slimming World holiday really. My eldest is a very fussy eater but is really into the concept of a 'nicnic' at the moment (picnic!), so we've been doing a lot of that in the garden and out on our walks since we've been allowed to. However, must get back to business!

Ive still been running and am going every morning now we are allowed more exercise, so hopefully that will negate a bit of my excess over the last few days. Had a good day yesterday, mackerel on toast for lunch, salmon with new potatoes and vegetables for tea. Used my syns for some chocolate and a Fibre One brownie bar.

Tonight we're having cottage pie for tea. I've already got the mince part done as I had some in the freezer, so just need to add mash and vegetables.

Took the boys to the beach yesterday- it was AMAZING!

Nessakxx · 20/05/2020 23:34

Hi,

I know exactly what you mean😩! My snacking has been out of hand and my meals let’s not even go there! After being recommended by a friend I tried this weight management drink and I can honestly say I was so shocked by it as I’m so skeptical about these things! I decided to start distributing them myself as lockdown has me furloughed😩.

My absolute faves and everyday go to’s are the weight management coffee and tropical juice, you just have one drink a day and they taste amazing😍 you can have the coffee iced or hot. I drink the coffee every morning and it’s helps me so much to cut out snacks I literally do not crave snacks at all!

If you are interested let me know and I can provide more info and results photos for you☺️
