Hi, I don’t post often but I’m just looking to see if anyone else is finding it really hard to keep healthy eating at the moment. I am a bit of an emotional eater, and trying to work from home with a preschooler and a year 6 who has autism and demand avoidance issues is taking its toll on me even after just a week (have been wfh since last Thursday). I have been trying to have SW friendly meals but my snacking is out of control and I’m losing the mental motivation to make the meals. I have lost 4 stone so far and dread putting it back on. I know there are bigger things going on but this is a big part of my mental well-being and I am struggling Sad does anyone have an tips or advice, or just feeling in a similar position x

3lbs isn't too bad really, with some willpower you could loose that in a week. The main thing is to leave it behind and get on with your week. Sounds like you're on track for a good week. How often do you run?

We're having gammon steaks for tea, so will do SW wedges with lots of salt, pepper and garlic and grilled tomatoes, mushrooms etc.

I think we'll get an Indian takeaway on Saturday night as a treat. I quite like lamb roganjosh which I think is about 8 syns.

knitting75 · 14/04/2020 11:30

I'm trying to get some motivation back to get going and would like to join you all. I ve planned some nice meals for last week and start the day off really well, but by the evening I'm snacking on all sorts. I'm still going out to work and we have lots of goodies about in the staff room which is really hard, I just can't take one I have to stuff my face. Then it's all the self loathing which makes it worse. I want to draw a line under it all and feel positive so I'm hoping by chatting with you guys I can do that. I'm feeling a bit like you @istheresomethingwrongwithme. im also hoping to get going again with running, but I never really managed more than 4k. Hope you all have a good day, I'm already feeling more positive. 😘

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 14/04/2020 12:46

Hi @knitting75 great, there are a few of us now to motivate each other, so thanks @Perpetuallytiredzzz for starting the thread!

I'm just like you @knitting75 - all or nothing. Either I'm really good and avoid all temptation, or I give in and eat for England. I can't do things by halves and there is no inbetween. I hate it, I have tried so hard to readdress my eating habits but each time I fail and feel even worse about it. The thing I've found best is to just accept that this is the way I am, and to just hope that the very good days outweigh the very bad ones. I don't drink or smoke - my addiction is food!

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 14/04/2020 12:47

Sorry, not sure what's going on with all the bold there!

Perpetuallytiredzzz · 14/04/2020 13:32

Hi @knitting75 welcome 😊 I managed to stay on plan and in 15 syns for the first time in ages yesterday! Today going well so far, went out for my run this morning just a shorter one 3.5k so tried to be a bit faster than normal Grin I try and go out on alternate days or at least 3 times a week. I did the couch to 5k podcasts from nhs and now just run for as much as I feel like each time. @istheresomethingwrongwithme sounds like you are doing well with your meals Smile

Hello to you all, feeling focused today! Two black coffees, 2 boiled eggs and 2 dark Rivita for lunch and a juicy pink lady apple. NO snacks ☺️ all the Easter chocolate is gone and I'm off for another broke ride with the kids this afternoon. Long may this motivation last.!! Do you all have a weigh in day?

knitting75 · 14/04/2020 20:37

Had a good day, stuck with my planned meals and I've had a walk. Got 7 syns to enjoy this evening whilst I watch Quiz. Then I'm off to bed to read my book away from the fridge.

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 15/04/2020 05:25

Quiz is on our list to watch, we're rationing all the good dramas so we have at least one decent thing to watch a night. Just finished The Nest last night, which I thought was great.

Chicken casserole for us for tea tonight, using up fresh stuff in the fridge. We've got a fridge in the garage where I'm storing most of the fresh shopping and then just bringing items in every few days to make sure we're rotating food properly and using up the older stuff first. I'm quite good at leaving things to fester in the back of the fridge and now seems a good time to get into better habits.

Didn't bother with a walk for the boys yesterday as they were really content playing in the garden, so did a 5.5k run.

knitting75 · 15/04/2020 11:52

Ive just finished watching wistling on bbc i player, subtiled murder mystery very good. 10 episodes so will keep you busy.

Just had a little run, been out of it so long ive restarted the couch to 5k. Didnt appreciate how much harder it is with an extra 2 stine to drag with you, another reason to shift it.

Got my meals planned for today and started off well, hope you are all staying positive Grin

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 16/04/2020 06:05

Morning all.

Hope you are all feeing positive. I had a good day yesterday I think. I've got some leftover bolognaise but not enough for DH and I so will add some peppers and kidney beans to bulk it out into a chilli.

@stoptherideiwanttogetoff I think we all weigh on different days, but I'm weighing first thing Saturday morning just because it suits me. My usual group is a Thursday morning. I'm not doing the online meetings, but quite a few of my group are. DH is trying to work from home and I've got two little boys running round after me so it just didn't seem practical.

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 16/04/2020 06:06

Thanks for the iplayer recommendation @knitting75 - I shall add it to our list as we like a good crime drama.

knitting75 · 16/04/2020 11:33

Wednesday is my group day. I refused two creme egg offers at work yesterday, a little achievement but i would have inhlaed them without even thinking before, little steps. Got hunters chicken for tonight, then im having a virtual disco with friends. We will see how that works out! Confused have a good day everyone x

Perpetuallytiredzzz · 16/04/2020 13:49

Hi all sounds like everyone is doing well this week Smile I have stayed on plan since Monday morning a minor miracle!! Having salads for lunch last couple of days, cottage pie for tea last night and having Chinese chicken curry syn free homemade tonight. @istheresomethingwrongwithme great you got out for a run, I did 5k this morning feel so much better when I’m getting out there regularly. @knitting75 virtual disco sounds interesting! I am having a virtual coffee with friends this PM as we normally meet about once a month for one. I weigh in Monday mornings as moment but at group is usually Tuesday evenings. Here’s to a good rest of the week! Wine

knitting75 · 16/04/2020 23:37

Had my creme egg this evening after a lovely long walk. Virtual disco kinda turned into just a chat as it wasn't quite working aswell as we hoped, but good fun trying. Work tomorrow so daytime will be fine, I will be kept busy, just evening I need to plan for. Thinking maybe a 'fakeaway', Chinese maybe. What does everyone do for a 'fakeaway' night, or do you just syn a proper one ? Your Chinese chicken curry sounds good @Perpetuallytiredzzz.

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 17/04/2020 11:16

@knitting75 I usually just syn a normal takeaway, but I'd love to get into doing fakeaways. We don't do takeaway very often anyway, although I do miss pizza when I'm on SW.

Doing cottage pie tonight, although we're thin on the ground for fresh vegetables. Youngest has his 1 year injections at 12 so I've suggested to DH that he does our weekly supermarket shop when I get back. It's due to chuck it down here at that time so I thought the shops might be quiet because no one will want to queue out in the rain!

Won't get out for a walk today due to injections/weather so did my 5.5k run this morning. It was hard work but I did enjoy it.

Marshmallow26 · 17/04/2020 12:02

I was really struggling at the beginning of the lockdown.. First 2 weeks just completely off plan, I changed my mindset to - absolutley everyone will come out the other side having put on weight, I want to be the one who's lost it! I'm 2 weeks on plan now and feeling great! Perhaps give yourself a goal for the end of this lockdown, I'm also not weighing. I've decided the number on the scales is too much pressure and tends to make me turn to the choccie

knitting75 · 17/04/2020 20:31

Good day so far, but evening munchies threatening to take over so I've made a fruit nibble bowl. I have done my shopping today too @istheresomethingwrongwithme, but I was lucky enough to get a click and collect slot so means I haven't had the temptations as I've browsed. Got some nice ingredients for next week's meals and decided on a Chinese style sweet and sour on plan tomorrow night so I can use my syns on some chocolate and a gin. Got another creme egg chillin in the fridge Wink

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 18/04/2020 06:57

Morning everyone, how are you all?

Just hopped on the scales - 12st 3lbs Smile. My scales consistently weigh 1lb below my SW consultant's scales, so think I would have been 12st 4lbs I'd been weighing at group. Still, group isn't on, so I'm saying 12st 3lbs Grin

Thank you all for your motivation, I'm finding this thread really helpful. Lockdown might actually be a good opportunity to 'train' myself into not needing a weekly group to keep my weight under control. I don't mind going to group, but I can think of better ways to spend a couple of child free hours and I would love to be able to manage my weigh more naturally.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 18/04/2020 06:59

Should have said, I weighed 12st 7.5lbs last week, so lost 4.5lb Smile

knitting75 · 18/04/2020 22:40

Wow @istheresomethingwrongwithme that is a brilliant weight loss, well done you. That really spurred me on. Im finding this helpful too, just checking in each day. Ive had a small blip in the form of half a rolo easter egg, on top of my 15 syns. (It was the small one not the huge one) But compared to what i had been eating last week it just a small hiccup, im not going to let it set me back. Im feeling much more positive than this time last week. Im going to have a run again tomorrow, which will finish off this weeks couch to 5k. I had sweet & sour chicken this evening and sunday roast tomorrow. Keep going everyone x

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 19/04/2020 16:44

Thanks @knitting75.

How has everyone's weekend been? I'm currently cooking roast pork, so that's tea for tonight and tomorrow night sorted.

knitting75 · 19/04/2020 23:43

I've had a good weekend, helps I'm not socialising so no alcohol which leads to snacking. Ready for another week. I've actually been really honest with myself as to what I've eaten this week, whereas before I would cheat and not track it. Hoping for a loss when I weigh in, don't care if it's tiny. Made moussaka for tea in the end so left overs for tomorrow as I'm on a 12 hour shift, I will put it with a salad and fruit to snack on. Hope you all have a good day. Keep going and posting, it's really helping x

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 20/04/2020 11:20

God you had a good weekend @knitting75.

I'm having one of those days where all I can think about is food! Just had two poached eggs on toast but really craving some sweet food today. Know I'll regret it but it's so hard not to give in!

stoptherideiwanttogetoff · 21/04/2020 07:37

@istheresomethingwrongwithme wow that's a great loss, well done! I'm actively watching what I eat now and have given up the bread. Won't step in the scales until Friday which would be my normal weigh in day. I need to stop the snacks!!! Crisps 😱 going to put it all in the MfP app today .. make myself accountable.

istheresomethingwrongwithme · 21/04/2020 07:40

Had a really bad day yesterday in the end. I just seemed to be hungry all day. I caved mid-afternoon and then that was it, floodgates open! I just decided to eat what I wanted and will start again today. Got my gym gear on for a run. Hopefully today will be a better day for me.

How is everyone else doing?
