Careful with slimming world crisps - they are syn free as they count as a 'tweak' - ie they don't fill you up so you are more likely to overeat them. They are synned so go careful! You will have to syn them as if you were doing a red day for the syn value.

Sorry to be a party pooper!

Meant to say they ARENT syn free!

If you make a nice big portion of salsa they're free.

Dips are pretty good overall, salsa and houmous without oil (or tahini obviously) are free and you can make a creamy one with quark or zero fat fromage frais and garlic - I usually have them with wedges rather than crisps tbh, but as long as a third of it is superfree it's all free and of course you could always have veggie sticks as well.

Walkers hoops and crosses are 4 syns and ringoes 3 (I think, double check) definitely lower than things like snack a jacks. Sainsbury's do flavoured popcorn that's I think 2 1/2 syns...the salt and vinegar's a bit odd, but the paprika one's nice.

There's a free pakora recipe on the website that's ok and a free raita would be pretty easy to make as it's basically cucumber mint and yoghurt.

I made tortilla crisps once from the wraps that are a B choice, cut them up, sprayed a bit of frylight on and then put on spices and stuck them in the oven...they were ok, but I prefer wedges tbh.

That's all the snacky things I can think of off the top of my head - it's sweet stuff I struggle with more, lol.

Though there is 1/2 syn brownies (I use 30g of sweetener and they're fine).

For savoury snacks, what about hard boiled eggs, ham spread with mustard made with mustard powder not ready made (syns in ready made mustard!), gherkins, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and celery sticks?

Blueuggboots - good idea, sounds lovely.

I made the sw bean chilli bowl which was so tasty and will make the super free soup tomorrow too I think.

I've not been well the last few days so have been snacking on mug shots which aren't too bad actually.

Has anyone made the curry loaf? Can't wait to try that, but can't find chick pea Dahl in a tin at my local Tesco, might have to try Sainsburys.

Sainsburys chick pea Dahl has syns in it - secretly quite high! Asda is free I think - the loaf is delicious! Definitely worth a go!

Just wanted to say well done for starting, all of you! Don't want to sound patronising but I know how hard it is to actually start and not keep saying 'I'll start tomorrow' or 'I'll start next week' etc. I went for 10 years saying that and just got bigger and bigger.

Anyway, I joined SW 12 weeks ago. I started at 16 st 8lbs wanting to lose 6 stone. I now weigh 14 stone 3. Already I feel so, so much better. I lost the first stone in 4 weeks. I find the certificates and stickers actually really do motivate me (not sure if that's just admitting I am childlike! haha) but I love feeling like I've earned it, particularly in the early days when you don't see the physical changes straight away. I had lost a stone but to look in the mirror I looked exactly the same. It wasn't until I lost about 21lbs when my clothes felt lose and I really saw bits of my body shrinking.

I found it really daunting in the beginning to think I had 6 stone to lose. It felt like such a huge task. But even now just 3 months later, already I can say I have '3 and half stone to lose' which just seems so much more doable. I agree with those who have said break it up into more manageable portions. I tend to think in half stones just because it's when you get the stickers and certificates. Also when you really get into it, they do come around very very quickly. Last week I lost 3lbs, this week I lost 3 lbs, another pound and that's half a stone gone in 3 weeks. It really can happen quickly but safely. However, don't get disheartened if it happens slower. There are weeks when I stay on plan perfectly yet I maintain my weight. Those are the weeks when you have to dig really deep and STAY on track. You will see results eventually. Equally there are those people in my group who consistently lose just a pound a week which doesn't sound much but over the course of a year that's 4 stone. Definitely worth losing!

You can all do this. The only way you won't see results is if you give up. If you really want it then you can make it happen. good luck xxx

I am trying and failing to get the chick pea dahl....bloody nightmare.

I am loving SW. ....joined on 7th January and have lost 1st 10lbs since, Got my Club 10 award now too Smile .

I am 4lbs off of a 2 stone loss which seems amazing.

I was 17st 3lbs.....and was mortified by that.

I have got DS on it too....he doesn't know as it is just healthy eating as far as he is concerned, done lots of swaps and it is really paying off for us both.Smile

Wow MrsTowMater! Well done! Hopefully I'll be able to say the same as you 3 months down the line!

I've gone over my syns by .5 today due to a fairy cake forced on me by my little nephew Blush it was home made and he helped his mum make them - He's only 20 months old so I couldn't say no!

But I've not gone over 10 syns a day at all over the last week so I'm thinking it won't make that much of a difference.

When do we all weigh in? I go on a Monday so this time tomorrow I'll know how I've done. I'm hoping for 3lbs off - so fingers crossed.

I've been really surprised at how easy it is. I've not felt hungry and I'm so glad I don't have the faff of working out points like I did with ww.

I've been away for the weekend so used flexisyns and allowed myself 30 syns per day, and kept my target realistic. In allowing myself the extra syns, I feel I've stayed in control and can get straight back on track. I've also had a really amazing birthday weekend and now have a good way of treating myself when I hit my mini targets (I'm not even thinking about my main target yet cos it seems so far away). Each mini-target hit is going to earn me a deluxe treatment at the spa where I've just spent the weekend!

I've just started SW & have 4 stone to lose so would like to join you if that's ok. I'm just reading up in everything & trying to meal plan for the week but already liking the big selection of free foods as I've done WW in the past & found tracking everything a real PITA!

Breakfast was mushroom omelette, tuna lunch salad & dinner prawn stir-fry.
