6months of a very very awake baby. Looking for hope!!!

Does anyone have a baby that was a terrible sleeper and suddenly just started sleeping through one night?

OP posts:

Yes but she was no longer a baby, but 4 years old 🤐

pelargoniums · 15/12/2022 16:23

Yes but she was 18 months…

FriedEggChocolate · 15/12/2022 16:24

Snap @CuteOrangeElephant! My DD slept 11 hours last night, but she's 4 and at school. Years of up 3 / 4 times a night first though.

Sorry.

Geranium1984 · 15/12/2022 16:25

Yes, around 12 months old. Seemed to coincide with starting nursery.

SalviaOfficinalis · 15/12/2022 16:27

Yes at 6 months, the night we started sleep training.
Didn’t sleep straight through but vast improvement and we worked towards sleeping through and dropping night feeds completely over the next 2 months.

Notjusta · 15/12/2022 16:29

Yes both of mine did - but they were older than six months (sorry). First one was about a year the second one about 18 months (he nearly broke me).

yikesanotherbooboo · 15/12/2022 16:46

My middle child started sleeping really well at about 6 or 7 months . The others weren't as accommodating.

Saltysnack2003 · 15/12/2022 17:03

Our baby was never a really terrible sleeper but used to wake at 430am every night (last feed 11pm). She was bottle fed. I started trying putting a dummy in her mouth when she woke up and she started sleeping through using this method. She is able to settle herself back to sleep. You could try a dummy?

Doowop1919 · 15/12/2022 17:05

Yes... 17 months old. Slept through last Christmas eve for the first time and has been since (except teething / illness)

Eixample · 15/12/2022 17:08

The first, yes, at 6 months, the day we started gentle sleep training.
The second at 22 months because sleep training made no difference, but he never ever woke more than twice a night and usually once whereas baby 1 was 8–12 times per night.

Cas112 · 15/12/2022 17:09

My son did, day after his jabs at 8 weeks

MattieandmummyandIs · 15/12/2022 18:03

Yes but she was 3 years old. Still waiting for number 2 but she's only 5 months so not expecting it for a fair while,!

Rainbowshit · 15/12/2022 18:59

Yes. At 18 months and 3 years old.

Matilda1981 · 15/12/2022 19:05

I’ve got 4 and they all started sleeping through at around 9 months old - although saying that we’ve got coughs and colds this week so the toddlers have been awake at least once a night these last couple of nights and they’re 2 and 4

Whatsthestorytomorrow · 15/12/2022 19:07

Mine didn’t sleep until nearly 6

Whatsthestorytomorrow · 15/12/2022 19:09

…6 years that is, not months!

KateTheShrew · 15/12/2022 19:09

Yes, but they weren't babies... they were more like 3 years old. Before that they were awake 2-3 times per night.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 15/12/2022 19:12

Mine did, at 5 months. Before that he used to wake every morning at 2:15am. Then one night he didn't wake until 5am, then one more night at 2:15am, then after that he would sleep from 10pm to 7am without waking.

Beees · 15/12/2022 19:16

Yes sorry like the others I'm afraid I'll also add my voice to no. Mine was 2 years old and evwn that was with sleep training! He's still not 100% consistent now.

I don't know any babies who magically started sleeping through. I'm sure it happens but I suspect it's very rare.

Dox9 · 15/12/2022 19:18

Yes, when dc turned 5 years old. Coslept until about 2 years old after that dc would start the night in their bed and come to ours at 4am. It wasn't too bad though tbh. the awake periods were only 5-10 minutes each, nobody was up for hours. I refused to get out of my bed and this is what got us all decent sleep.

NeonBoomerang · 15/12/2022 19:19

Three years in and DS has only slept through the night a handful of times.

bunpot · 15/12/2022 19:22

Yep, when we started sleep training at 10 months.

Nicklebox · 15/12/2022 19:24

My first two were about 2 & half. Then had DD who was an angel and slept through from 8 weeks. She was 8lb 5oz birth weight and the boys were 6lb 8oz so that made a difference maybe

GracePooleslaugh · 15/12/2022 19:27

Yes one of mine did that. She was around 6 months. I woke up before she did and panicked because she hadn't woken me up.

I shot out of bed at 7am to check she was still alive. She was sleeping peacefully ❤️

JimRoyle · 15/12/2022 19:29

Yes!!!!!

Up every 30 mins - 2 hours. 8 months old he started to stretch then at 10 months suddenly just slept through. get them in their own room - it will change your life 😍
