Currently going through what I believe could be a four month sleep regression? For ages my son slept really well didn't wake up in the night and if he did it was for one bottle then slept. Most nights slept 9:30pm till about 8am next day.
Has alllllllllll gone out the window the past week 🤣 I always knew the good sleep wouldn't last long and I appreciated it when it did but it's kinda making me feel extremely tired now including my partner🥱
How long does it last?? Will it go on for months?? Will I ever have a 8-8 again? 😥😥🤣
The strange thing is if he wakes up. As soon as I place him onto my bed and pillow he sleeps. So if it was a sleep regression surely he would wake also in my bed?

All good here so far.

Good luck for tonight everyone 🤞

Sleepymama285 · 07/12/2021 03:30

Hey ladies, anyone else up at this ungodly hour? Having such a brutal night, I've only had two hours sleep so far and LO is currently on me feeding (and showing no signs of settling in the crib anytime soon). Literally don't know how I'm going to function tomorrow Confused Hope you're all having more successful nights!

ayylauren · 07/12/2021 04:52

@Sleepymama285 I've been on/off up all night too. He's improved very slightly to waking up every 1.5-2 hours but I'm still absolutely shattered Sad

Sleepymama285 · 07/12/2021 05:52

Aw @ayylauren sorry to hear that. Sounds like a rough night. I don't even know if this is the 4 month regression or the 6 month one, it's been going on so long!

Mytigerhasstripyfeet · 07/12/2021 06:08

@Sleepymama285 how are you doing? Did you get any rest?

The days are awful after a sleepless night aren't they? Feeling like a zombie, grumpy baby.

ayylauren · 07/12/2021 06:15

@Sleepymama285 from what I've read it seems pretty common for the 4 month regression to mesh into the 6 month one, im trying to take each day as it comes and not worry myselfGrin did you manage any sleep?

also anyone else sick of starting their day around 5amConfusedConfused

Sleepymama285 · 07/12/2021 06:16

Hey @Mytigerhasstripyfeet I think I got another hour, so that's something at least. Could cry thinking about the day ahead...am at a loss with day naps too...she'll only really sleep in the moving pram or car...pram isn't ideal with the storm coming in today but I don't know if I'll be safe to drive in this state. Also she's sleeping on me again now while feeding...want to leave her to sleep but then this is my only 30min window for rest before my husband goes to work. Argh what to do?! Any ideas or advice gratefully received! How was your night?

ayylauren · 07/12/2021 06:51

@Sleepymama285 can you put baby in pram and rock inside? I know it's not a "good" habit but my LO also hates naps and I've found this to work. He does cry when put in but after a few minutes calms down and (usually) surrenders. Works better if I catch him before he's over tired

We've got 16 week jabs today (even tho baby is 18 weeks yesterday). He's never been poorly from his jabs before so hoping it'll knock him out a bit tonight and I'll get a better sleepGrin

Mytigerhasstripyfeet · 07/12/2021 06:54

@Sleepymama285 oh that's rough! Did you manage to get your 30m?

Our night was actually... good. I thought it was going to be a disaster because he woke up at 11pm (after being fed to sleep at 9.45). But then he woke at 2.30 and that's it!! Ok he did wake more, but I was able to settle him quickly by holding his hands without having to get out of bed. Woke at 6 but is now sleeping on me again. Which is weird!

Don't have much advice really. He does love having his hand held and it seems to put him back under, I don't know if you could try this when your baby gets restless? If she gets restless before waking. Last night I also just let him sleep on his side rather than trying to roll him back.

I've also been trying to get him to nap just before I think he might need a feed. So don't feed to sleep initially, I bounce him. Then if he wakes after 20m I breastfeed and often he'll have a long sleepy feed and drop off for a decent period. Otherwise he tends to have short distracted feeds if he's not sleepy.

Have you got a relative or friend nearby who wouldn't mind taking you for a drive?

Ah we just have sleet on the forecast for almost the whole day but not much else.

JammyRedRooo · 07/12/2021 08:02

I'm in shock. Had an uneventful bedtime last night where she just fell asleep feeding just before 8. Put her in her crib about 30 minutes later and she woke up at (drum roll please) 6am. TEN HOURS. Wtf do they put in those 16 week jabs??

Sleepymama285 · 07/12/2021 11:31

@Mytigerhasstripyfeet and @JammyRedRooo glad to hear your nights were pretty good - gives me hope! @Mytigerhasstripyfeet thanks for the advice ...no relatives nearby who can help unfortunately so just trying to power through! Luckily the weather hasn't been as bad as predicted so got out for a walk and have managed to get her back in still sleeping (and order myself a McDonalds while walking Grin so am finding some reasons to be cheerful!) Think I'll try rocking the pram in the house tomorrow - have been thinking of trying that but haven't tackled it yet. Would definitely be a better option over winter though!

Sleepymama285 · 07/12/2021 11:32

Sorry the pram idea was @ayylauren, my mistake! Will also try the timing the bouncer/feed idea though @Mytigerhasstripyfeet

Sneezymcsneezy · 07/12/2021 11:37

Worst night so far, 2 X 1.5 hour bum pats. The second one I gave up and brought him to bed with me... Where he wanted me to rub his chest till he fell asleep, then proceeded to move him to his cot cos I couldn't sleep through his snoring!? 😹

@ayylauren that's why I try not to use the term regression 😹 although mine never slept for longer than 7 hours, and that was once, so nothing to regress from really ☕☕☕☕☕☕

JammyRedRooo · 07/12/2021 11:52

@ayylauren hope the jabs go well Flowers

ayylauren · 07/12/2021 11:54

@Sneezymcsneezy mine hasn't slept for longer than 3 hours since he was a tiny newborn, so I know exactly what you mean

@JammyRedRooo thank you!! They've never made him poorly before so fingers crossed he's the same this timeHalo

Mytigerhasstripyfeet · 07/12/2021 13:05

@JammyRedRooo that's crazy! Did you get loads of sleep as well?

@Sleepymama285 it's working well for us. He woke after 20m but then had a 12m feed and has been asleep a further 50m and counting. Asleep on a boob...but hey it's pissing down here, what have I got to do anyway?

JammyRedRooo · 07/12/2021 15:30

@Mytigerhasstripyfeet kinda, I didn't go to sleep straight away when she did because I thought she is bound to be back up soon. I think I fell asleep at 10ish, then my brain woke me up a few times to check she was definitely okay lol. Then I woke up just before her at 6 with two lumpy sore rocks for boobs, PJ top absolutely soaked in milk. I think if I didnt still have the remenants of this cold I would feel AMAZING today. But I'd say I feel very much human again so I'm v grateful. I dare not hope for a repeat tonight tho...

Timeturnerplease · 07/12/2021 18:32

As the parent of a now 3 year old ex buggy napper please don’t panic about bad habits - this was hands down the best thing we did with DD1! Once we worked out that buggy+loud white noise+Snoozeshade was the key to naps, we did this every time and it meant that we were never restricted to the house for nap times. On one notable trip to the Algarve we did her bedtime routine at the villa, put her in her cot in her Sleepyhead and then when she was asleep transferrred Sleepyhead+white noise machine+baby into the buggy, covered it with a Snoozeshade and walked down to the marina for a meal. She sat through three courses in a busy restaurant and the walk home with no clue that she’d even left her bed!

Nursery were fine about it when I went back to work. They were happy for her to nap in a buggy as, since she was a 28 minute sleeper, it meant they could wheel her out of the way to prevent her waking the others. They have buggies, bouncy chairs and all sorts for non cot nappers at nurseries!

We’ve just had 16 week jabs today for DD2 (though she’s 18 weeks) and she’s been very sad all afternoon. Seeing as she was awake EVERY HOUR again last night, I doubt we’ll get a jab related long stretch 😂

Hope you’re all surviving and have access to tea and cake.

ayylauren · 07/12/2021 18:38

@Timeturnerplease thanks this does actually make me feel betterSmilemy LO will not nap in his crib during the day at all. So we just do pram naps (inside or out), car rides and sleepy booby naps Grin

Also my DS has also had his 16 week jabs today and is also 18 weeks so snap!! He's been absolutely fine till I've just tried to put him to bed and it was a battle. Currently feeding to sleep fingers crossed he sleeps well tonight.

LCF2021 · 07/12/2021 19:38

Another shitty bedtime here. She’s screaming the house down no matter what we do, so husband and I are tag teaming as my 2.5 yo also struggled going to bed tonight.
Feeling rubbish after a crappy day and just can’t handle any more crying and fighting a baby to go to sleep.

Mytigerhasstripyfeet · 07/12/2021 19:42

Thinking we're in for a rough one tonight - he's only had one good feed today and has spent the rest of them unlatching and screaming. Not looking round distracted, but shouting at the top of his voice. No idea what's going on. He's done some very small vomits and isn't enjoying being laid back and bounced so I wonder if he has a tummy ache.

On the other hand, he could just be being a baby!

Partner has taken over bouncing, son sounding upset. I am hoping he'll sleep for a little while then have a proper meal...

Oh dear. I'm really tired already too.

Mytigerhasstripyfeet · 07/12/2021 19:43

Wow quite a few of us having a rough time.

Hang in there everyone!

Timeturnerplease · 07/12/2021 19:51

Yep @ayylauren we had bedtime screamies too. Plus she then woke up again while I was doing DD1’s bath (can’t wait till DD2 can sit up so we can bath them together) and DP had to abandon the dinner in order to take over while I resettled DD2.

Burnt chicken has not improved my mood.

LCF2021 · 07/12/2021 19:56

I just made my husband deal with it tonight. Feeding to sleep at bedtime doesn’t work for her anymore so I left him take the reins once she was wailing. Today she’s not let me put her down at all. In fact, I just left her to scream while I had a shower as otherwise I still wouldn’t be dressed now. I took her out to the shops today and was only out for an hour but on the way home she got tired and rather than just fall asleep in the car she screamed and screamed with tiredness as she hates the car (same as my son as a baby!) so I had to sit in traffic for 25 minutes listening to her get so worked up. Such a stressful day. Really finding myself wishing time away now until she gets older and more entertaining…which is about 12-18 months!

JammyRedRooo · 07/12/2021 20:12

@LCF2021 same here, also got stuck in a traffic jam when we were trying to get home quickly as she had been awake ages. The screaming was ear splitting even though it was all dark and warm in the back she could have had a lovely nap. But nope!
