Currently going through what I believe could be a four month sleep regression? For ages my son slept really well didn't wake up in the night and if he did it was for one bottle then slept. Most nights slept 9:30pm till about 8am next day.
Has alllllllllll gone out the window the past week 🤣 I always knew the good sleep wouldn't last long and I appreciated it when it did but it's kinda making me feel extremely tired now including my partner🥱
How long does it last?? Will it go on for months?? Will I ever have a 8-8 again? 😥😥🤣
The strange thing is if he wakes up. As soon as I place him onto my bed and pillow he sleeps. So if it was a sleep regression surely he would wake also in my bed?

having a nightmare tonight, getting him to bed was such a battle in the end I had to rock him in the pram with white noise on the tv then transfer to cot. This was about 7.30 ish and he's been up every half hour 30/40 mins all night Sad stingy eyes here

Mytigerhasstripyfeet · 06/12/2021 02:03

@MamaThr3 overtired? That is a long time to be fighting sleep through

@ayylauren nightmare 😟any sign of him settling longer? Mine has only done 10, 11.30 and 1.30 for wake ups so far. Just bouncing back to sleep ("only" ha sad that's a good night)

ayylauren · 06/12/2021 04:47

@Mytigerhasstripyfeet he's just done 2 and a bit hours thank goodness, it's not much but it's better than every half an hour Grin

Like you said, isn't it sad when we consider getting a few hours "good" HmmGrin

JammyRedRooo · 06/12/2021 08:53

So DD slept for 6 hours last night after an epic bedtime battle aswell (feed to sleep, eyes pinging open everytime she was put down, feed back to sleep, repeat...).

My cold is on the way out too. So that's two good things. The bad things are that DH has just started sneezing and having a runny nose which is how mine started, and we have the 16 week jabs today which will probably scupper everything again.

LCF2021 · 06/12/2021 09:53

@JammyRedRooo Hope the jabs go OK. I actually found she was more settled the night after she’d had the jabs as I think they knocked her out a bit so fingers crossed for you!

LCF2021 · 06/12/2021 09:55

We’ve now had two better nights in a row which has coincided with her learning to roll on to her front and it’s all she wants to do whenever she’s put down on her mat.
I am, however, now holding her for her nap after trying to get her into her cot for 45 mins. She was getting way too overtired so I was fighting a losing battle if I tried for any longer.

Sneezymcsneezy · 06/12/2021 10:16

@ayylauren same story at 2am where he let me get some sleep from 9.30-12 (I passed out when he was put down first time yesterday evening, might have even slept through any crying). However, the 2am wake up led to him waking every ten minutes after I put him down again... Fed up at 3am moved him next to me with my hand on his belly Hmm and he fell asleep within like 2 minutes... I think... I reopened my eyes so it could have been 30 minutes really 😹 he still did wake up again a couple of hours later. More 10 minute wake ups at 6-7, then he gave me a couple of hours till 9.☕☕☕☕☕☕☕☕

So I've wondered if the regression is resolved by them mastering rolling/new skills? It's a theory anyway! I have a horrible feeling I won't get any sleep until mine fully works out how to roll. He's done it a few times but I get the impression he doesn't know how he does it!
Mytigerhasstripyfeet · 06/12/2021 10:55

@JammyRedRooo 6h is brilliant!

Despite being awful after the 8wk and 12wk jabs my LO was actually ok after the 16wk jab 🙂

LCF2021 · 06/12/2021 11:48

@Mytigerhasstripyfeet It definitely wasn’t that way with my son, he mastered rolling at 4.5 months but sleep was still dreadful for months afterwards. I’m hoping that now my daughter can move herself around a bit more she can get comfier in her cot and maybe sleep for longer 🤞🏻 She definitely wasn’t having any of it at nap time though but as with everything it’s never linear, she obviously just wanted some extra cuddles for that nap.

Sneezymcsneezy · 06/12/2021 11:48

@Mytigerhasstripyfeet same I do wonder, but then they move onto new skills like... Sitting, standing, walking, talking, teething 😹😹😹

pinkgin1 · 06/12/2021 15:50

What is everyone's daily routine on here? What time is little one awake etc when do they feed etc? X

OP posts:
Mytigerhasstripyfeet · 06/12/2021 15:50

@LCF2021 that theory is out the window then haha!

We're just ordered a new cot to replace the next to me as he keeps scratching the fabric sides.

When we do tummy time now he spreads both his arms out and face plants the floor. Holds his head up fine when sitting or being carried. Anyone else had this?

LCF2021 · 06/12/2021 16:08

@Mytigerhasstripyfeet Oh, that scratching on the mesh in the crib is the worst! Always wakes them up! Tummy time is hit and miss for mine. Sometimes she’s in the mood and will try to lift her head and look around but other times she just splats on the floor and whines 😂

@pinkgin1 we have a rough routine of wake up about 7.30am, nap about 9/9.15am for anywhere between 45-90 mins, nap again around 12.30/1pm for an hour-ish and 3rd nap about 4.15pm for 40 mins. She generally has around 3-3.5 hrs sleep a day, depending on if she’s in her cot or being held. She BFs on demand, usually having about 7 feeds in the day and 2 at night.

Mytigerhasstripyfeet · 06/12/2021 16:31

@pinkgin1 we had a nice routine going which was v similar to LCF's. Up at 7, 3xnaps of 45-90m, bath at 6.30, bed at 7pm.

Then everything went to pot. Naps are often just 20m but can be 2h. He often wakes for the day at 5am so I'll try for a nap at 7 and he'll do 20m. Then moan until the next nap. Nightmare!

What's your routine?

He's also fed on demand in theory, in practice he doesn't really do feeding signals so I aim for every 3h but will offer sooner if he seems grouchy.

@LCF2021 ah funny yours scratches at the sides too. He loves scratching 🙂 is your LO still in a side sleeper? Two of my friends have said their babys' sleep improved dramatically in a bigger cot... Thought we'd give it a go seeing as we'll need a bigger cot soon anyway.

Mytigerhasstripyfeet · 06/12/2021 16:32

How were the jabs @JammyRedRooo?

LCF2021 · 06/12/2021 16:41

@Mytigerhasstripyfeet Yep, she’s still in her next2me. To be honest I can’t wait to get her in her big cot in her own room. I’m desperate for my bedroom back! With my first I was very emotional about it and was all like “ohhh it’s such a milestone, he’s growing up” but this time I’m counting down the days to moving her 😂 My son’s sleep definitely improved once he was in his own room but night feeds are that much harder as I actually have to get out of bed to do it.

I’ve just spent half an hour rocking her in my arms to get her to have her 3rd nap. It’s the worst one, I hate it and she fights it so much.

Mytigerhasstripyfeet · 06/12/2021 16:55

@LCF2021 Yes naps definitely get fight-y later in the day here too! Hope she has a decent nap. Mine is doing well, heading towards an hr now.

We'll keep him in with us for now, just in the new cot when it arrives. I'm surprised that I don't mind the idea of sleeping apart when he gets to 6m...much! There's still part of me that feels sorry in case he's sad. But I'm spending so much of the night awake because he's shuffling around.

The main thing that worries me is that atm he doesn't ever need to cry to get my attention. Just moving about will do it. Which means he's still sleepy when he's fed or cuddled back to sleep.

Did you find with your 1st that they cried more in their own room? Because you don't notice them stirring.

JammyRedRooo · 06/12/2021 19:11

@Mytigerhasstripyfeet they were better than the last lot thanks, although she still screamed like a banshee Sad Glad theres no more for a long while now.

@pinkgin1 my DD doesn't really have a set wake up time, its random like her night sleep. I try and get 3-4 naps in, usually 1.5-2 hours apart. I feed on demand although the last couple of days I've tried to stick to every 3 hours to eliminate hunger as a potential reason for the night wakings. Her naps are anywhere between 30 mins and 2 hours but mostly on the shorter side unless shes in the carrier. Naps are the bane of my life atm, I feel like I spend my entire life trying to get her to sleep! If I have the audacity to pop her in her crib or moses basket during the day she wakes up instantly and screams at me.

LCF2021 · 06/12/2021 19:12

@Mytigerhasstripyfeet I know what you mean. He definitely slept better in his room as I think even me shuffling in bed probably disturbed him and woke him up. He didn’t necessarily cry any more but he was quite the cry-ey baby anyway. A much happier toddler than baby!

We have this sometimes too! Sometimes she is fine and tries to look up/roll and other times she lies face down and cries until I turn her back round. Confused

LCF2021 · 06/12/2021 19:44

30 mins into a bedtime battle here. I’ve sent husband in to try as I’ve already fought her about going down for 2 naps today and just don’t have the patience for another one.

ayylauren · 06/12/2021 19:49

@JammyRedRooo I tried for about a week to get my LO to nap in his crib during the day and it was hell, just ended up with a grumpy over tired baby so gave up. He ends up asleep in his pram or on me now. We recently bought a carrier but waiting for a nice weather day to trial that out

@LCF2021 same here, mines been fighting sleep all day and I've already been trying to get him down for an hour tonight Sad

Mytigerhasstripyfeet · 06/12/2021 19:54

An hour in here too - he's peeking out at me through half closed eyes 😒

LCF2021 · 06/12/2021 20:22

Hope all your babies are sleeping soundly now. Mine has just gone down. She’s realised how much fun it is to roll on her front so the last two nights she’s ended up sleeping on her tummy. I know the advice is not to let them until they can roll back but she does it in the night so I don’t know! Anyway tonight every time she tried to roll on her front she didn’t have the room and disturbed herself which resulted in a lot of screaming and me panicking she’d wake my older one (she didn’t!). She’s finally settled on her front as she rolled herself there so I’ll spend the next half an hour staring at the monitor before I go to bed and pass the job on to my husband.
