I mean with no requirement for you to intervene at all? Clearly I'm desperate for quality sleep on a regular basis and I'm just trying to establish a realistic timeline of how long I will have to wait for that as I have a 6 month old

About 13 months, and reliably at 18 months.

What worked for me was weaning at night, DS was breastfed and was waking up and demanding milk every 2 hours. When I went back to work I just couldn't do it anymore so I sent DH in with water. It took a few weeks but eventually he just stopped waking up.

10 months for eight hours unbroken.

But I think between 7or8 months and 10 there was just one quick wake/feed and no drama.

BoogieFeet · 06/05/2021 08:37

5 years

merrygoround88 · 06/05/2021 08:38

7 weeks and 13 months

TwinsAndTrifle · 06/05/2021 08:45

Ds1, 5 weeks 2 days, slept from 7 till 7. Can't remember when he first spoke, can't remember when he had his first food. But that date is engrained, I need my sleep! Grin

Twins, went from 6 til 6 at 8 weeks. Putting them in their own room is the key.

Over 3 years old and not consistently. Various sleep training methods tried and failed. Expecting DC2 currently and expecting it to get worse again.

BrilloSolar · 06/05/2021 12:39

7 months with some sleep training. Felt like a different person.

DS first time he slept through he was 10 months old but that was fluke. Reliably from about 2 2 1/2 years old. He’s now 4 and it’s incredibly rare he wakes in the night for any reason.
DD who is 3 months has slept through from 8-7 since 8 weeks.

JackieWeaversZoomAc · 06/05/2021 12:47

DD1 about age 4.
DD2 slept right through from 2 weeks. After DD1 I could not belive my good fortune.

Seeline · 06/05/2021 12:49

I'm not sure that my DS ever slept 8 hours straight until he hit his teens. He didn't wake in the night, just went to bed late an woke early. Just never seemed to need much sleep. He is 19 now and seems to spend most of the day in bed, but is up all night.

DD was still on 2 hourly feeds at 8 months, but was a much better sleeper. Certainly getting a full night by about a year.

Northernsoullover · 06/05/2021 12:49

My second slept around 7 hours from 3 weeks. He fed really well in the day so no concerns. My eldest. Two years. Two bloody years Sad

18 months in, we're not there yet...we've not done more than 5 hours.

999Alex · 06/05/2021 13:09

First baby most nights from 6weeks old. She's 4 now and usually sneaks in to our bed a few times a week, she was better when she was a baby lol.

Second baby is 17 months and she does sleep about 12hrs a night but needs the odd cuddle or 2 in the night to get bk to sleep, maybe sleeps through once or twice a week. She's been like that on and off since about 4 months old but got worse when we started weaning and she started needing night feeds again 😫 This settled down again about 10/11 months.

She's got a bit better in last month or so. Though last night she woke at 5.30am for the first time and wanted a carryon was pulling my hair etc in bed. I had to take her downstairs to try and get her bk to sleep. Gave up after 20mins put her bk in her cot at 6am told her it was bedtime she went bk to sleep. I had to wake her this morning at 9.30 😮 she went to bed at 7.30 last night.

Ds1 has SEN and he was around 8 years old.

Dd was 6 months.

Ds2 about 3 or 4 years old I think.

FlyingBum · 06/05/2021 13:26

DS1 - prem baby so probably 3 months when we stopped waking to feed. He was 5/6 months when doing 12 hours straight.

DS2 - probably just a few weeks for 8 hours as he did 12 hours from about 10 weeks.

Part of the reason I'll never have any more as I don't think it's possible to get lucky again! Friends have DC who are 3/4 years and either don't go to sleep until after 10pm or else get up at 530am and you can see the toll it's taken on them.
