I mean with no requirement for you to intervene at all? Clearly I'm desperate for quality sleep on a regular basis and I'm just trying to establish a realistic timeline of how long I will have to wait for that as I have a 6 month old

noblegreenk · 05/05/2021 23:10

3 months old.

Missmonkeypenny · 05/05/2021 23:10

DC1 from birth. Yeah, really. She was one of those mythical unicorn babies.

DC2 still waiting. He's 16m and still wakes 3/4 times between 6.30pm - 6.30am. He'll get there in his own time and I'm out the feeling so tired I want to poke my eyes out stage now

VivaDixie · 05/05/2021 23:11

Typo, should read 12 hours at 6 weeks old for DS1. God we were smug but I learned quickly that my sleep deprived friends had no interest in my stories of sleep!

Immaback · 05/05/2021 23:12

Ds1 6 months
Ds2 is 2 and it’s hit or miss still but he first started to do long stretches around 14 months

Lilmzsnowflake · 05/05/2021 23:16

Dd 8 weeks.
Ds... he’s 7 years and still waiting...

I do get the best night time cuddles though 😁

yikesanotherbooboo · 05/05/2021 23:21

Middle child was about 7 months.
Their siblings kept waking regularly .
DC1 stopped bothering me at about 6 .
DC3 was older, perhaps 8 or 9.

fuzzyelbow · 05/05/2021 23:22

DC 1 - 12 weeks old.
DC 2 - 6 years old Sad

Notmydaughteryoubitch · 05/05/2021 23:23

Around 4 years old, reliably by 5 years old.

whyhell0there · 05/05/2021 23:24

Ahahaha... Around 2.5yrs... sorry. But there's a lot of variation between children!

campion · 05/05/2021 23:29

I always credit a month in scbu for getting DS2 into a brilliant sleep routine. He was a dream, sleeping through by 3 months although I kept waking up to check he was still breathing!

DS1 regarded sleep as an optional extra at that age and was about 2 before he reliably slept well.
It's very individual.

DD 3 months
DS 3 years

MyNameForToday1980 · 05/05/2021 23:35

DD slept through at about 4mo.(formula fed, which I think makes a difference). But even now at 4.5y old, she often wakes once a night for a quick cuddle.

Joolsin · 05/05/2021 23:35

DC1 - 6 years olds
DC2 - 18 months old

TrinityWaves · 05/05/2021 23:41

DC1 - 6 weeks
DC2 - 10 weeks

Toastandjam16 · 05/05/2021 23:47

Can't remember about a whole night's sleep, but the game changer for me was 8 months when DS dropped from multiple wakings a night to just once. Getting up only once with two decent blocks of sleep either side made a massive difference.

harper30 · 05/05/2021 23:52

Maybe 18 months?

RosesAndHellebores · 05/05/2021 23:53

DS about 5 weeks 6 hrs from 11-5. We tried for about 2.5 years thereafter to put him to bed at 8pm - and he slept beautifully for about 6 hours. Eventually we realised that 6/7 hours was what he needed although when he started school he'd sleep from 10pm to 6am Shock.

DD always needed a bit more sleep but didn't sleep through the night until she was 5.

OP when your DC are older teenagers you will look back with fondness to the early days when whilst they were screaming you knew they were safely behind the bars of their cot rather than waiting for the night bus in Lewisham with 2% battery.

It won't be long before you sleep with Yr mobile phone under your pillow instead of the baby monitor.

Good luck and deep sleeps. The early days are the hardest yards.

Goatsgetmygoat · 05/05/2021 23:54

From 6 months but I sleep trained. They are 5 and 3 now. Great sleepers

Xmasbaby11 · 05/05/2021 23:56

Dd1 from 12 weeks -she slept 7-7 with one wake up. Soon after that she slept 12 hours straight consistently.

Dd2 .. took about 18 months!

KatherineOfGaunt · 06/05/2021 00:01

At about 11 or 12 months. But often sleeping around 6 hours for several months before that.

elliejjtiny · 06/05/2021 00:07

Dc1 - 12 months
Dc2 - 2 years
Dc3 - 9 months
Dc4 - 4 months
Dc5 - 6 years later we are still waiting!

SavannahLands · 06/05/2021 00:07

DD1 5 months old, slept from 8pm to 6 am

DD2 4 months old, 9pm to 7am

DD3 3 months Old, 10pm to 6am

DD4 6 months old, 10pm to 6am,
She was fussy where she slept, preferring DH’s Chest, or in her Pram, she refused to sleep in her Crib even for a daytime nap, and would just scream if we tried to put her down without her being able to feel any movement such as DH Breathing or Pram Rocking

DD5 2 months old, 10pm to 5am, mixed feeding, mainly due to my returning to work on Night Duty when she was 6 weeks old, after a CS, and DH doing any Night feeds required.

3DGDs, all born early between 32 and 35 weeks, and weighing in between 4lb 7oz and 5lb 2oz, living at home with us, after DDs CS’s, until they all grew and moved into a home of their own.
2 to 3 Hourly feeds were a nightmare, our DD was exhausted, so one reason she remained with us for the first few months so that we could help, and she has never moved more than a 5 min walk away down the road, even now.
None of them slept through the night until they were about 6 months old, and had about doubled their Birthweight, all now healthy and Growing well.

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 06/05/2021 00:13

DC 1 - 7 months old. Then slept 16hrs a night straight. Stopped napping at 7 months though!

DC 2 - 4 months. Then slept 16-18hrs a night straight. Now 2.5 and still naps for 1-3hrs in the afternoon if we're home. I don't understand how, but I'm not complaining!

ScottishBadger · 06/05/2021 00:21

I'm still waiting and it'll be her 10th birthday soon. (is autistic, possibly runs on batteries). 4 non consecutive hours a night as standard

Trayble · 06/05/2021 00:25

Dc1 - 8 months
Dc2 - 2.5 years
Dc3 - 9 months
