When did your non sleeper starr to sleep?

Curious to know when your non sleepers slept (without interventions)

My 8 month old ds wakes anything from 3 hourly to hourly won't be settled by dad and I'm back at work now.

He's teething but has been for weeks with still no sign and is working of crawling ( pushing backwards).

I'm hoping and praying once teeth come and he's tiring him self out he will sleep better. Did anyone else find this or am I just kidding myself??

DD1- 3.5 (years)
DD2- 15 months

In my experience, you’re kidding yourself (sorry!). My non sleeper slept at 3.5 yrs old after we hired a sleep nurse for three nights (at great expense). I was back at work full time at three months old and also had a non sleeping 2 yr old and it was hell.
If only I’d got the nurse much much sooner... live and learn.
My advice is to take action and try to solve the problem rather than hoping, like me, that something would change.
I feel for you Flowers

When I sleep trained them.

NameChange30 · 22/03/2019 19:58

When we did sleep training, aged 10 months (but it was a very gradual process - we were down to just one waking at 5ish for ages until we finally dropped that, with the help of a gro clock, at 18 months). I had been dead against sleep training but he was a truly terrible sleeper and we were desperate. No regrets, everyone got more sleep and it saved our mental health and we can be better parents as a result.

When my son learnt to walk at around 1 it improved loads for us.

DD slept all night for first time at age 4. At 4 and half announced she’d now sleep in her own bed as I was expecting DS. So I had six months when I could have slept but had insomnia during second pregnancy. DS came along and didn’t sleep until 3 and half. So I didn’t have a nights sleep for around 8 years

rubyroot · 24/03/2019 01:34

My non sleeper suddenly slept at 8 months

Laureline · 24/03/2019 06:12

When we sleep trained.

luckyrabbits · 24/03/2019 06:24

When she was 3. She still often gets up during the night though.

FenellaMaxwell · 24/03/2019 06:26

DS is 2. He sleeps through maybe 4/7 nights?

WeShouldBeFriends · 24/03/2019 06:28

When they started school Hmm

HalyardHitch · 24/03/2019 06:29

If I'm honest, I don't consider three hourly to be a non sleeper. My youngest was every hour or two until he was thirteen months. Is now nearly 15 months and sleeps through 50/50. We didn't do much to correct it but moved from comfort breastfeeding to gradually doing more shush and pat

eurochick · 24/03/2019 06:30

19 months. No sleep training.

Northernsights · 24/03/2019 06:32

When they started school here too. And even now age 11 it’s not great. We’d tried sleep training in various guises from about 10 months which helped a bit but never solved the problem. Twin slept through from 6 weeks!

windysowindy · 24/03/2019 06:46

2 years
😃

Waitingonasmiley42 · 24/03/2019 06:51

14 months... still waiting. Would kill for 3 hour stretches. Teething and cough so last night was 8 feeds/wake ups..

Weenurse · 24/03/2019 06:55

20 months

Arewehumanorbones · 24/03/2019 06:58

3.5 years - tried sleep training but it didn't last 2 months
2.5 years
And still waiting for dc3 who is 2.8
Apparently I didn't sleep through until 5 so at least they are better than me! (And my parents repeatedly sleep trained me, but it never "stuck")

missanony · 24/03/2019 07:01

7.5 months once he was cruising but the month before where he was learning to crawl, pull up and then cruise was awful

SpeckledyHen · 24/03/2019 07:07

DS1 - When he started school . Still has problems as an adult.
DS2 - Total opposite . No baby issues and can sleep for England.

GinUnicorn · 24/03/2019 07:08

She’s not reliably sleeping through yet but we are almost there at 18 months.

BikeRunSki · 24/03/2019 07:09

3yr 3mth

OrzeiliHapiol · 24/03/2019 07:15

About 11 months, after application of the techniques in "the baby whisperer" - it's not "cry it out" sleep training but does give you the tools to recognise and respond to your baby's signals in a different way. Our previous instinctive attempts at being calming and soothing were in fact almost completely counterproductive.

MyBreadIsEggy · 24/03/2019 07:19

DC1 went from waking 5-6 times a night, to one waking (usually asking for a drink) and about 20 months. Then started sleeping solidly through at about 2 and a bit.
DC2 is 2y 5m and has only just started sleeping for longer than 4 hours at a time, and it’s absolute bliss!
I’ve never sleep trained either of them as it’s just not something I’m comfortable with.

Teddyreddy · 24/03/2019 07:22

DC1 fairly suddenly at about 15 months, he went from 2 to 3 wake ups to sleeping through over about 6 weeks. We did no cry sleep training gradually over months before then to stop doing things like rocking him to sleep and get him used to falling asleep more by himself, but what really made the difference was teething pausing. He's a really good sleeper now.

DC2 is 2 1/4, we had a first brief spell of her sleeping through about a month ago, but she's back to waking up once or twice a night. She's just cutting the last molar, we're hoping things will improve once it's through - but she's a generally light sleeper so I'm guessing we'll still be up everytime she's under the weather....
