Curious to know when your non sleepers slept (without interventions)

My 8 month old ds wakes anything from 3 hourly to hourly won't be settled by dad and I'm back at work now.

He's teething but has been for weeks with still no sign and is working of crawling ( pushing backwards).

I'm hoping and praying once teeth come and he's tiring him self out he will sleep better. Did anyone else find this or am I just kidding myself??

I am not trying to be inflammatory but what do you mean your dh won’t let you comfort bf?

@Luckyduck88 I tried shh pat to start with (at the start of sleep training) but ended up sat on his floor for two hours at 2am getting a sore throat from shhh-sing so much and arm ache from patting his back awkwardly through the cot bars. He was happy as larry being awake for two hour with me sat next to him. I decided enough was enough and did very strict Feber CC. I researched and felt happy that there would be no lasting effects and that him learning to sleep was very important for our whole family. And I appreciate every family is different. So I did CC again to tackle the 5am. He did cry, the first night has always been the worst but by night 3 he's fine. When he's been ill I go straight back to cosleeping

We did the gradual withdrawal/retreat method. Ds1 was waking every 1-2hours and the only way he would go to sleep was breastfeeding. The health visitor took pity on me and let me borrow her book 'teach your child to sleep'. I decided that I would extend the time between feeds by 15 minutes every 3 days or so. I also decided to stop feeding him to sleep at bedtime. So first night I rocked, sang, did anything but feed, to get him to sleep then if he woke after more than 1hr30 I would feed him if not I would rock, sing etc. After a few nights I stopped rocking and singing and just held him on my lap. I also extended the time to 1 hr 45minutes. I kept slowly increasing the time between feeds and concurrently I gave him decreasing support so from holding him, to lying next to him with my arm over him, to sitting next to him, to sitting further and further away until I was out the door. If he woke very soon after him settling without a feed I would often feed him as I thought he might be hungry. I would also take a few steps back if he was poorly or we were on holiday. It did take a long time and did involve crying but I did similar with both ds2 and 3 just not as consistent!

Also sleep trained at 10 months. Hourly wake ups & 40 min naps prior to that 😬

Not long after I night weaned at 1yr 7months.

Singerleon · 24/03/2019 21:17

Reliability at 17 months, but got better from 12 months onwards. Down to maybe one wake up a 11/12 hour stretch

Luckyduck88 · 24/03/2019 21:19

@icelollycraving baby was feeding for comfort at its worst every 45 minutes so on DH's insisting we worked with sleep trainer using gentle methods and now baby is 'allowed' a feed no earlier than 3, and if fed at 3ish 'can't possibly' be hungry again at 5 so I'm not allowed to bf. Tough on me but baby is sleeping longer and better than ever before. But the 5am is so hard because I know 45 seconds on the boob would probably take us through to 7 :(

first night slept through - age 3
still an awful sleeper at 11...

Luckyduck88 · 24/03/2019 21:27

@icelollycraving I absolutely hate it I feel like he's not letting me be the mother I want to be. But the attachment parenting model leaves me too tired and he has to pick up the pieces apparently:(

That sounds awful. You must feel v conflicted. Flowers
