Am I crazy? Do I need to take boob off the menu?

Hi all. Will try to keep this brief. DS is 9 months and has never been a good sleeper, but recently it's been terrible. I've assumed it's to do with the 8-10 month sleep regression, but I think it might be more than that.

Name and Fraula, thanks for the tips, and the support. It really helps to have objective feedback. Have got a plan and, thanks to the grandparents, had 10 HOURS sleep last night, so ready to go for it. Fingers crossed!

Ooh what’s the plan?

My 9 month old twins fed after going to bed at 9:30pm
1 @ 11:30 for 15 mins
1 @ 2am for 20 mins
1 @ 5 am for 20 mins
Both 6am 25 mins

I’m tired as always

Ah, Jennifer, you are doing so well, it must be such hard work with two! Twice the good stuff as well, though - I am loving this age. Hope you've got some support and can get a bit of rest yourself.

My plan is pretty basic lol. I have been getting his naps in any way possible for a few days, because he was so overtired. I've been trying to put him down in cot where possible, but if he's needed the boob then I've just done it, or I've put him on the boob when he wakes after 30 minutes to prolong the naps. I've also been putting him down a little bit earlier for the naps as well. The last two days, he's gone down without a peep in the cot, and longer naps are emerging! I can't believe it.

Bedtime, I started to BF, story, then bed and I stayed with him patting/shushing. Very quickly, I've become more of a distraction and last two nights I've put him in the cot and just stepped away, and he's drifted off to sleep.

Through the night is still tricky, but essentially I've just stopped giving in. He stays in his cot all night, and no boob until after 4am. If I feed him 4-5am he's been sleeping until 7ish. If not, he ends up crying so long around 5am he wakes himself up. I'm happy with one BF for now.

It's been hard. The first night I only slept about 3 hours, and I've been up hours at a time, but I genuinely see loads of improvements already. He's stopped waking up loads in the early part of the night and has been sleeping a nice long stretch of about 4 hours!

Good luck, are you wanting to night wean, or just get a better night than you're currently having?

Brilliant, well done! After night weaning I still did a feed around 5am for ages. Only stopped when he stopped falling asleep afterwards so I figured we might as well cut it out!
