Yes ladies we've got a shiny new thread to share our woes of chronic sleep deprivation, to hail all that is gloreous when something works and throw our arms in the air when it all goes wrong again.

One bad night doesn't impress us, we're awake more than we sleep cos we is 'ard I tell ya.

Hi Ginger,

I missed you all by a whisker on here earlier. Just wanted to add that I'm sorry you're feeling so rotten today - it's awful what sleep deprivation can do. It sounds from here like you put so much time, effort and love into making sure everything's great for your dd, and we're all allowed an off-day or two.

I get angry and irritable with DD sometimes, especially as I'm not exactly what you'd call a "zen" person either. DH knows it's time to whisk her away when I start effing and blinding .

Any chance of a break a the weekend?

Anyway the sun is now shining here (of course it is, we've just got home!) - hope everyone gets to make the most of it .

Amberjee · 20/07/2007 16:44

hilarious, someone searched for 'excuses for sleeping on the job' and got to our blog. brilliant. when we nap with our LO's is it 'sleeping on the job'?

XcupcakemummyX · 20/07/2007 18:45

ds was so tired goes to bed
and keeps coming to me with are you looking after me
is it still daytime etc

Amberjee · 20/07/2007 19:01

ds sooo tired. asleep already. don't know if that's a good thing. dh out to drinks, might see whats on the tv - probably nothing.

hey tibs, i'm a tad worried (in that annoying motherly kind of way) about ds' poos at the moment. just so frequent, funny greeny kind of colour and bit runny. i don't know if it's just what he's eating making it green and his digestive system adapting, or whether he has a stomach bug, or has an intolerance to something i'm feeding him.
what a minefield. i'd rather just BF him rather than think what is causing this. from most reports it sounds like weaning causes constipation rather than the other way. what d'ya think? stick with what we're doing and see what happens?

gingerninja · 20/07/2007 21:16

Amber, my DD had green poo from time to time, never really found out what it was but I put it down to her being a bit under the weather. If he's feeding and is well I wouldn't be too concerned. You could just exclusively bf him for a couple of days again see if it makes any difference. It's a minefield isn't it?

OP posts:
EffiePerine · 20/07/2007 22:01

Amber: spinach?

Is he teething? Can cause runny poos

DS also fast asleep - yelled at DH most of the afternoon and in bed early dosed up. I hope he isn' t coming down with something (there's a local measles epidemic so paranoid atm)

Amberjee · 21/07/2007 07:43

hasn't had spinach, but does eat avocado/beans/asparagus etc so not surprised it's greenish, just wonder about the frequency and consistency, will see if it calms down in a few days before i think i actually have to DO smething.

bagsundereyes · 21/07/2007 07:56

Morning all - hope the nights were ok.

Hi Amber - how's the pooing going? I notice you are being coy about your night - does this mean you had another good one. I do hope so .

Does your DS have a cold at all? When I saw the GP, she said that our DD's runs were probably due to her cold (although the flow is ebbing now!)

DD has spent all morning practising her new skill - blowing raspberries. Admittedly not a milestone you read much about in the books, but I am hugely proud of her and predict a successful future as a trumpeter .

Not bad here. Settled to bed by 7.30, after only 30mins, which is quite good for us. Up at least 3 times at night, but I don't know the details, as DH took care of everything again . I feel very spoilt. (she obviously fed twice, as there's 2 bottles in the sink!)

Amberjee · 21/07/2007 08:22

he he, we are back into raspberries in a big way in this house, after a break from them to practice rolling it's very cute isn't it.

we had an okay night. feed at 12, brief waking at 4, but he settled himself. feed at 5.30, up at 7.15.

yay for your DH! hope you feel rested

ds might have a cold. i was sick last monday and he's been a little snotty, so maybe it's related to that. he's still going strong with the poos, hope it calms down soon.

Tamdin · 21/07/2007 08:38

morning all
good night here. (co-sleeping) ds went t bed at 8, woke briefly at 4.30 and then 7.30 for the day

off to the gym catch you all later

EffiePerine · 21/07/2007 08:49

Tam: great night . Well done for getting to the gym - makes me feel tired just thinking about it.

Not a bad night for us - decided to keep DS in bed with us as he was so grumpy and he only fed about 3 times (as far as I remember ). DS also much mor cheerful today so hopefully it was a blip.

Amberjee · 21/07/2007 08:55

good one tam and EP!

MegBusset · 21/07/2007 09:04

Our night was OK too, by current standards. Asleep 7.30, fed 10.30, fed & in bed with me 1.30, then nothing major until 6 (think he stirred once or twice but settled with cuddle and dummy), then dozed back off til 7.

DH apparently went off in a bit of a huff at 1.30, as he was swapping nice warm bed for none-too-comfy sofa, but I was half-asleep so I dont really remember it Poor DH!

tibsy · 21/07/2007 13:53

afternoon ladies, and for thoe good nights, tam, EP and Meg
our night ok, 2 wakings for boob dont think she was really hungry but i was too tired to argue

gotta dash, am at work, so a bit naughty

amber, re. the poo thing, dd has had some truly awful nappies and goes sometmes 2/3 times a day. she has never suffered from constipation. i wouldnt worry too much, easier said then done i know. its probably just his immature digestive system. or as EP say teething, always effects dd that way xx i know, i felt like that about just solely bfing too! much nicer poos!!!

gingerninja · 21/07/2007 14:05

Tam and Amber for your good nights. Bags for your DH. Glad you got some rest. EP Glad your DS is feeling happier. Meg, sounds good for you too in fact I think we'all did well last night.

After yesterday's wallowing I feel more optimistic today. DD went to bed at 7 ish and woke at 8.30. Quickly settled then woke again at about 10 and 12 ish. DH settled her quickly. She woke again at 3 and I went in to her. She did a lot of humpfing around the cot, but no real tears. She kept crying out and getting up onto all fours, then settling again. I slept next to her on a matress on the floor for the rest of the night. Well, I say slept because after she'd finished that it was about 4 oclock and she started again at 5 finally waking properly at 6. I feel better because she wasn't distressed. She was content with me putting my hand through the bars on the cot. So I wonder if this is an improvement. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

OP posts:
Tamdin · 21/07/2007 19:11

ginger sound sliek a huge improvement. hang on in there think she might get the message very soon. I wish i had your willpower. for now we'll caryy on 3 in a bed and see what happens when we move house!
hope tonight goes well

Amberjee · 21/07/2007 20:41

wow, LO just had a major screaming fit. don't know what was wrong. eventually calmed down feeding. poor little man. wonder if he's sick or something.

i've decided to go back to pure BF for a couple of days, I really do think LO has diarrhoea. will see if it clears up and take the food thing slowly to see if there might have been an intolerance to something.

Amberjee · 21/07/2007 20:41

hope everyone was brilliant sleepy nights.

EffiePerine · 21/07/2007 20:59

DS still not well - he seems to be worse in the afternoons. Tired and grumpy then vomited when we got home from our walk this afternoon . There is a local measles outbreak and I'm really hoping it isn't that - no other symptoms so far but we're keeping a close eye on things. Anyway, he's was really tired so he went to bed early with a dose of calpol and is fast asleep.

Tamdin · 21/07/2007 21:02

poor ds EP. ds also very tired today and has been in bed fast asleep since 6.45. think i might join him.
hope ds better tomorrow.
night amber.

MegBusset · 21/07/2007 21:10

EP hope your DS feels better very soon.

Feel very of you early-nighters but I never feel there's much point going to bed early as DS would soon wake me up!

In other news... DS had his first ever drink of water today! He was sitting on DH's lap as DH was drinking a glass of water, and kept reaching out for it, so DH let him have some. He seemed to like it and reached out for some more later - sooo cute! I guess that's baby-led weaning in action, even if it's a bit sooner than expected...

Amberjee · 21/07/2007 21:22

EP sorry your LO is so poorly. hope he is feeling better soon.

think i'm off to bed.

xx

Tamdin · 22/07/2007 07:55

morning. pretty good night here. ds was very tired last night so went to bed at 6.45.
woke at 11.30(in with us), 2.30, 7 for the day. Back to 2 wakings but they last for a matter of minutes so I can cope with that no problemo.
hope there were some more good nights out there.

bagsundereyes · 22/07/2007 08:23

Morning all - hope your nights were ok.

Hi Tam - Glad the wakings were brief and few for you last night .

EP - I do hope your poor DS is better today. Sounds really stressful, especially with the local measles outbreak. Fingers crossed...

Ginger - glad you are feeling a bit better. Your previous night sounded like an improvement . Like Tam, I wish I was as strong as you in terms of trying to address DD's sleeping issues (rather than just hoping in vain that someone will wave a magic wand!).

Not too bad last night. DD asleep in her room at 8, awake 11.45. DH cuddled her for 5 mins and put her back. She woke for food at 1 and then into bedside cot. Woke at 4.30, fed at 6, napped 6.30-7.15. Can't decide whether it's better to try and feed her on first waking, though she often doesn't seem that hungry, in the hope of getting her to go back for a longer spell.

Tamdin · 22/07/2007 08:25

bags that doesn't sound like too bad a night or am i jsut delusional afetr 18 months of broken sleep
