Yes ladies we've got a shiny new thread to share our woes of chronic sleep deprivation, to hail all that is gloreous when something works and throw our arms in the air when it all goes wrong again.

One bad night doesn't impress us, we're awake more than we sleep cos we is 'ard I tell ya.

Meg: I'm resigning mysefl to a bit of grizzling, cos if I put DS ot bed at the first signs of tiredness he forgets about being sleepy and just wants to play! He went to sleep within hald an hour tonight (crosses fingers and touches wood)

Amberjee · 16/07/2007 19:46

I'm off to bed. ds asleep by 7.15, very good. am very sleeeeeeeeeeeepy. goodnight.

hope all nights are good. EP, sounds like an improvement.

ds did 5 poos today - what the???

bagsundereyes · 16/07/2007 19:56

Amber, I will be following your lead.
I'm shattered after the weekend's exertions, and steeling myself for more night wakings as dd is still full of the runs.

Amber, Meg and EP - I hope your beautiful boys stay soundly asleep for you. Sleep tight!

XcupcakemummyX · 16/07/2007 20:14

goodnight

MrsThierryHenry · 16/07/2007 20:58

Ahhh, to be a parent. Already had 3 wakings in 90 mins. It's gonna be a loooong night.

Nighty night, y'all.

tibsy · 17/07/2007 06:51

morning all from a bleary eyed tibsy

Crappola night here despite a good start, with many many feedings. dont think it was hunger tho as she wasnt taking much. she's got another flaming tooth coming through, so think it was for comfort. poor wee thing, but arrrrrgggghhhhh

meg, hope lo manages to have a poo soon
amber and bags, hope your two manage to stop pooing so much
poor little ones
EP, hope you had a good un after the promising start
MrsTH hope your night improved

hope those with colds get better soon

quick question, i'm sorry but cant remember whose los are in their own room yet. only asking because just recently, dd ahs been waking several minutes after i've gone to bed. wondered if i might be disturbing her despite being as quiet as a mouse. or maybe she can just smell me iyswim? ahhhh dilemmas dilemmas
as you know, i love co sleeping, but a couple of hours on my own in bed is reaallly nice too

tibsy · 17/07/2007 06:57

oh and meant to say ginger, i moved ds into his own bed (i know your dd is on a mattress) quite early on. although he was a good sleeper, it was a nightmare to get him to sleep,....didnt know about gradual retreat and all that lot in them days!! anyway, it worked really well, as i'd get into bed with him, wait until he went off to sleep then disappear back to my bed, if i didnt fall asleep!!
gradually he learnt to do it on his own, i'd just say i had to go and get something from downstairs and be back in a minute, 9 times out of 10, he'd fallen asleep by the time i went to check on him
dont think it'll work with our dd's yet, but its something i keep in the back of my mind if dd still not sleeping in a coupla months........please, for the love of all that is holy, nooooooooooo!!

Tamdin · 17/07/2007 08:14

crapolla night here too. ds went to bed at 7.30 but woke several times until 10 and then came into ed with us. woke again at 1,4, 6 for the day . couldn't get back to lseep in between wakings so am tired today.

totally off the subject have tesco home delivery coming today. does anyone know if you are supposed to tip the delivery driver?
Also ordered the no carrier bag option. do they bring it in cradboard boxes or do i have to unpack it while he waits?

bagsundereyes · 17/07/2007 08:22

hi everyone.

tibs - sorry for tooth-related feeding. at least we've been spared the fun of teething yet.

tam - ouch! sounds like a really knackering night.

Hope there were some good nights out there (thoughts turn to Amber?)

last night - dd up at 9pm, 1am, and then i lost count. ended up half-climbed into bedside cot myself to comfort her, as for some reason co-sleeping is too exiting.

The runs keep on running here, so I'm going to try and get a GP appointment this am. Our surgery has one of those crap systems where you have to ring on the dot on 9 on the day, only to get the engaged tone and then get told to try again tomorrow .

hoping for good days for you all .

tibsy · 17/07/2007 08:29

hi tam i use tesco home delivery and dont tip the driver just never thought of it tbh ...they bring the stuff in plastic boxes. you can either unpack it there and then, which usually involves me lobbing my shopping into a pile in the dining room or you can unpack it at your leisure and they'll collect the boxes at a later date. sorry your night was crap too. its the pits sometimes aint it? hope you manage to have a nice day xx

bags poor lo. hope you manage to get through to the docs. our surgery has the same system

MegBusset · 17/07/2007 08:44

Morning girls. Bags hope you get that appt -it's tough to get in to see our GP too unless you say it's an emergency.

Tam we do give the shopping delivery guy a couple of quid tip. Used to use Tesco but they kept coming late, missing bags etc so we have switched to Sainsbury's and find them much better.

Well, our good night yesterday was a fluke - last night woke around 10.30 and never really settled again - was wide awake at midnight so DH took early trip to sofa and DS came in with me. OK after that actually - didn't have a proper waking til 6 (though I seem to wake quite a lot to check he's OK next to me) then managed to get back to sleep til 7. But had hoped we might have another night where he was in the cot for most of it. Ah well, tonight is another night...

MegBusset · 17/07/2007 08:48

Tibs, LO is still in our room, we dont have another room to move him to! But in the process of moving house to bigger place so hopfully he will have his own room soon and we will all disturb each other less

Tamdin · 17/07/2007 08:51

thanks meg and tibs. sainsbury don't deliver to my postcode unfortunately. i do normally go to sainsbury but ds had a tantrum in the carpark yesterday and went so stiff i couldn't even get him in the shopping trolley so we came home again. (i lost my temper )so i had to order online last night instead.
Will go with lobbing it all on kitchen table option as coming back to collect is porb more hassle.

Amberjee · 17/07/2007 08:53

tibs, tam, bags - sorry for your bad nights

tam, i have never even considered tipping the ocado driver, never entered my mind, is that bad of me? i don't think it's expected though.

had a great night here . bed at 7.15, waking at 9.30, then 1.30 for feed, then nothing until 7.50am!

dressedupnowheretogo · 17/07/2007 08:53

bear with it girls cj has jst slept through the night

it took 11months and one week but it worked in the end

best of luck

Amberjee · 17/07/2007 08:54

ps. tibs, i moved LO to his own room at 4 months becasue i had enough of waking him every time i moved and vice versa.seems we are both very light sleepers. it did seem to improve things slightly, but i do miss him!

Tamdin · 17/07/2007 09:10

thanks dressed up ds is nearly 18 months!

amber for your good night. have afeeling you'll be one of the early ones to leave us!

EffiePerine · 17/07/2007 09:18

Good to hear that dressedup . Sorry to hear about the bad nights out there. Hope you get an appointment at the GP, Bags.

No startling improvement for us, DS woke every 2 hours or so but did one 3-hr stretch and went back to sleep pretty quickly each time (in his cot) so am feeling more rested. It makes a difference not wrestling him to sleep in the early evening, I find.

We're also in a small flat so DS is in with us until we move. He also wakes up just after we go to bed but there's not much we can do about it atm!

gingerninja · 17/07/2007 09:19

Who's eyes are as sore as mine eh? Not DD this time but me. Ooh feel so rubbish and can't breath every time I lay down I get a tickle and need to cough or drink gallons of water which makes me want to pee. Think I've got man flu

MrsTH thanks for your advice. I OD-ed on green and blacks so felt sick too . I used some eucalyptus and lavender on my pillow last night but might steam later if I get the chance. BTW I used to work almost opposite bumpsadaisy. Wonder if we passed in the street?

Meg, go for an early bed it doesn't necessarily mean an early morning ime.

Tibs, re bed. I've been thinking along a similar line. If it worked I'd be happy to scrap the cot and just put her on a matress permanently then a bed when I'm sure she won't drop out. We moved DD at 6 months to her own room but it meant that co-sleeping became almost permanent because the trips down the hall were a killer. I do think it gets them used to sleeping on their own tho and she goes to bed relatively easily most days. I was also of the opinion that we disturbed her. DH can't fart and snore very loudly and the occasions we have kept her in her room rather than taking her in with us she's been really good but that could be a coincidence.

Tam, persoally I wouldn't tip the driver but I'm a skin flint and have 'issues' with tipping anyway. (Encourages employers to pay peanuts etc but that's a whole other thread!)

Bags poor lo. Hope it doesn't last. They dehydrate quickly tho so definately best to see GP. Ours are usually very accomodating with a baby.

Amber or your night

Thought I'd do another as that one was getting a bit long.

Well, last night was good and bad. I went to bed at 10 as feeling poorly . DD woke at 11.30 and I went and put her cot side down (it's one of those ones that slip right underneath so you can have it next to the bed. After a bit of humpfing about she settled but woke again about 10 minutes later. DH went in and did the same and she cried on and off for sometime, probably until about 12.30. She then slept until 5 when she was up for the day. Although she cried, DH was with her the whole time and her cries weren't as stricken as the past few nights. I felt so crap I couldn't get out of bed so just listened heartbroken in the next room then couldn't sleep until about 3 and woke at 4.30 and 5.30 for the day so yes I'm tooooootaly knackered today but I feel progress was made as that's two nights that she's not been in our bed.

OP posts:
Amberjee · 17/07/2007 09:21

glad you feel a bit rested EP. I'm so glad I went to bed really early, I needed a good 11 hours in bed!

gingerninja · 17/07/2007 09:22

DH CAN fart and snore loudly. He is a man after all

OP posts:
Amberjee · 17/07/2007 09:23

oh poor ginger, will you be able to get any rest today?

MegBusset · 17/07/2007 09:34

Just took half an hour to get screaming DS down for his nap . Must have missed the tired window... he was obv knackered but would tense up and scream as soon as laid down in his cot. Or maybe it's the poo which still hasn't arrived?

tibsy · 17/07/2007 09:41

ginger, glad that dd seems to be settling to the mattress its hard listening to them cry when someone else is witht hem, even if you cant do it yourself hope you feel better really soon xx

am sure that dd's being disturbed, as she was fine all evening, even cried out a few times but settled herself
meg and EP, space is an issue with us atm too. need to move ds into the cellar before dd can have her own room ....the cellar idea is not as bad as it sounds btw!!

Ep - glad you're feeling a bit perkier

tam, i know ds still in with you too until you move. do you think he'll be going in to a bed then? cant remember but think hes in a cot atm?

dressed up, you give us hope!!! thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

anyone got anything nice planned for today?
