Yes ladies we've got a shiny new thread to share our woes of chronic sleep deprivation, to hail all that is gloreous when something works and throw our arms in the air when it all goes wrong again.

One bad night doesn't impress us, we're awake more than we sleep cos we is 'ard I tell ya.

ps I'll swap your not well rested for my toddler tantrums!

Amberjee · 16/07/2007 13:57

he he, japanese origins indeed!

i think EP wants to swap at the moment too so maybe we could do a round robin. make us appreciate our own LOs more.

bagsundereyes · 16/07/2007 13:58

that's good to hear EP. i'm back to work september. it feels too soon, but i suppose i haven't been off so long that my brain's completely atrophied! I was hoping to find a childminder, but haven't yet found anyone i like who has vacancies at the right time for me. i live in hope.

I work in farringdon, which isn't a million miles from covent garden. meeting for a child-free lunch sounds like a lovely idea.

EP I worked in Covent Garden for about 6 years (Henrietta Street and Long Acre), left 3 years ago for Paddington and when I go back I'll be at Old Street. Maybe we passed each other in our pre-baby days. I loved working in Covent Garden such a buzz. Paddington is dullsville.

Right, toooooo many posts to comment on so will just talk about me No seriously, I hope you're all well, and sorry for those with pantsarama nights (and days).

We've had some hoooooorendus nights. The last 3 nights we've had 2 hour wake periods. Sat night she slept like an angel in the early part despite a very noisy party in our garden /house she slept until 1 and then was awake screaming on and off until 3 . I'd gone to bed at midnight when our guests went so was really cheesed off. I felt rougher than my hungover DH on Sunday.

Last night she was back on the matress on her floor. Briefly awoke at 10.30 and I managed to quickly settle her laying next to her with a hand on her tummy. She slept until 2.45 and at 4 DH took over as I was getting naffed off and I went to bed. It took him another hour to settle her and she slept until 7.30. I woke a lot earlier because I'm suffering a cold so I still feel very tired today but it feels like a success because she slept in her room and for most part on her own. I'd kept her really cool so wondering if that helped with the itchy eczema so tonight she'll just be in a vest.

Anway, off to feel sorry for myself

MrsThierryHenry · 16/07/2007 17:52

Hi everyone!

EP - for your rubbish night, and everyone else and for your reasonable ones. Mine started off well but ended horrendously. He slept non-stop btw 11.45 and 4.15, then when he woke I managed to get him to sleep fairly quickly, only to have him wake again after 2 mins. This repeated itself about 7 more times between 4.15 and 6am!! DH came in at this point, having heard DS crying. He had no more luck than me so I finally bf'd ds to sleep around 7.

Today he's still constip and on hunger strike. Poor love.

Ginger, for your cold. You prob have 102 different meds stuffed up your nose but I swear by steam inhalation (10 mins, twice a day - germs don't like the heat). I usually add aromatherapy oils too - 1 drop each of the following: lavender, tea trea, clove and thyme. Clove is not always easy to come by but a good vendor is Baldwins: www.baldwins.co.uk/ Good prices too. If you make up this mixture I'd make it in bulk in a sml bottle. Lavender and tea tree and thyme are great bug-busters; clove - I'm not sure why it's there, but the whole thing just works. Also Green & Black's choc is particularly gd for poorly mums.

By the way I added the clipping about laughter and breast milk as a bit of a joke - it made me laugh!

Must dash - am freezing green beans as a gum-cooling chewing stick for the wee bairn. I think he needs one right now.

Parting haiku:

sore gums, empty tum
DS has a full bum
tired mum
needs some rum

ooh, 17 sylllables and it rhymes!

Kisses all round!

MrsThierryHenry · 16/07/2007 17:53

oh and I once worked in cv gdn - shop called bumpsadaisy used to sell maternitywear but is no longer.

oh dear - posset. gottogogone!

Amberjee · 16/07/2007 18:19

hi thierry, i have to admit to indulging in some green and blacks today

the steam inhalation sounds good. i have some bizarre ayurvedic inhalation oils that i brought back from india. sure packs a punch (almost too much to bare), but you are guaranteed to breathe easily after it.

XcupcakemummyX · 16/07/2007 18:42

i read about swaps for children earlier
i am sure no one is up for one sprited toddler
two teenagers angst or not, and why is that word in every book at the moment.
dh is at present on sentry duty near ds room as i am sure it is second third or forth seperation anxiety
bye for now

MegBusset · 16/07/2007 19:33

Evening. DS just gone down after a very grizzly bath and bedtime. Maybe it's the heat making him itch, or the fact that he hasn't had a poo for four days ...

Also we are caught in a bit of a nap dilemma. When he takes 1hr+ at lunchtime then 3 naps are fine, but today he took 3 short naps of 40ish minutes so was overtired by bedtime. So the choice is either a) bring bedtime forward to 6.30 and risk him waking up at stupid o'clock in the morning, b) let him have a late nap (this would be around 5.30-6) and put to bed around 8, thus losing a big chunk of mine & DH's evening, or c) stick as it is and accept that he might grizzle through bedtime?

EffiePerine · 16/07/2007 19:35

I would have swapped early CCM but DS is actually asleep! Don't want to jinx thingd as I did last night, but

(ahem)
