Yes ladies we've got a shiny new thread to share our woes of chronic sleep deprivation, to hail all that is gloreous when something works and throw our arms in the air when it all goes wrong again.

One bad night doesn't impress us, we're awake more than we sleep cos we is 'ard I tell ya.

sounds like a pretty good night tamdin. i lurrrve 5 hour stretches.

tibsy · 15/07/2007 18:31

ah well, dd has had 2 naps today, a 90 min one this a.m and a 30 min one this afternoon. Am more hopeful for a better night. Hope dd is on the same wavelength

sending everyone sleepy vibes to their bubbas xx

EffiePerine · 15/07/2007 19:20

weel, tried an early night and less faffing about, DS still wanted to play and crawl about rather than sleep. At 7 bunged him into his cot and came out and ... he's gone to sleep! Saying this under my breath in case he wakes up again - he's squidged into one corner of the cot which can't be comfortable . So we shall see how tonight goes...

XcupcakemummyX · 15/07/2007 19:22

hello
i hope everyone is alright.
went on cooking strike infact went out with teenage dd and friend.
hope the night will bring a litle bit calm.

XcupcakemummyX · 15/07/2007 19:27

Tamdin · 15/07/2007 19:32

Amberjee · 15/07/2007 19:33

darn EP, was too good to be true!

MegBusset · 15/07/2007 20:04

Evening all. EP hope your LO has gone back to sleep now. We had a bit of a late nap in the car on the way back from a friend's, so kept him up a little later. He was sick all down my friend's trousers but she has a 5-month-old boy so wasn't fazed

Anyway he is asleep now so fingers crossed for an OK night (Tam like you we no longer hope for sleeping through, just if we can eat our tea without disturbance!).

EffiePerine · 15/07/2007 20:10

Nope, is wide awake and happily crawling round trying to break stuff ... could be a looong night . Am defrosting some milk as he's been feeding loads and may need a top-up.

XcupcakemummyX · 15/07/2007 21:34

or effie
hope you get some rest

XcupcakemummyX · 15/07/2007 21:36

managed to miss the f, on for effie
well hope there some sleep to be had
bye

EffiePerine · 15/07/2007 21:36

He's finally gone to sleep - raided emergency stash of EBM in freezer as he's been feeding all evening as well. A bit of rocking and a few off-key lullabies and he's asleep for now.

Really hope this isn't going to be a pattern - the one thing I could say is that he went to bed pretty early so we had our evenings free!

MrsThierryHenry · 15/07/2007 23:14

Hi all,

It?s been ages since I last wrote, and somehow I can only seem to get on the computer when you?re all in bed! Here?s an update on life in the Thierry Henry household:

  • When I joined this thread two weeks ago my DS had no teeth, woke 3 times a night and I was able to put him down, awake but sleepy, and watch him fall asleep. Now? Hah!
  • Now he has TWO teeth (happened in the space of 7 days), which has upset his previously wonderful sleep pattern (amazing that for us lot, 3 wakings a night counts as a good night). I am back to bfing him to sleep about half the time, and for the other half I have to cuddle him to sleep. He now wakes anything from 5 to 8 times a night (Friday night we had 3 wakings in an hour ? fun!) and my DH, having spent Sat night in bed with me, is back to sleeping in the living room.
  • DS is constip and so not eating much, which means he?s often waking hungry, so I spend ages trying to get him back to sleep. He also sings, coos and smacks his lips at 3am. What is that about??
  • He?s dropped his late afternoon nap and also cut down his two-hour morning nap to 30 MINUTES!!! I?m still in mourning.
  • Bummer.

So a lot can change in a week. There are some good things, though:

  • One very sweet thing ? we?re currently reading a pre-nap book called ?Baby Says Love You?. The title is repeated throughout the book, and every time I say those words, he coos! Ahhh?he makes me want to melt.
  • Also have just started baby signing; it?s now week 2 and when I sign he looks puzzled first, and then nods his head with a big smile of recognition. What a sweetie.
  • On the grooming body hair front, have discovered that post-natal hair loss has resulted in my legs being practically bare with no effort on my part. Am I the only one who lost a frightening amount of hair? Even my pubes are now thin on the ground. Flippin ?eck. All I wanted was a baby and now look at the state of me.

Ginger and Meg, for your ongoing eczema issues. Just a thought ? I find that EBM helps calm the itching on my own eczema. I never used it long enough to find out whether it actually healed the skin, though, but it?s worth a try. I don?t remember whether you are still bfing, but if so, it?s another of the millions of remedies which you might wish to add to your extensive repertoire (and then write a book about it and make yourself millions and squillions of lovely pounds, right?! You have my permission to make yourself a mint from publishing my breast milk remedy).

EP, for your DS sleep traumas. Sounds very similar to what we went through before our DS learned to sit up. Lots of hugs, tea and sympathy.

EP and Ginger - I also get the ?Daddy?s fun and mummy?s my night-time cuddle monkey? treatment ? but I secretly relish it.

Cupcake ? I love your posts; they read like poetry!

Amber, and for your good Saturday night; despite my I hope it was repeated on Sunday.

Meg, I also put DS back into bed every night during my dozy haze. You just can?t think straight when you?ve been woken at 12, 3, and 5am.

Effie ? for a bad start to your night. Am sending you peaceful sweet dreams vibes for all your family.

Am off to bed early, might even get to say hi one day when you?re all online.

xx

MrsThierryHenry · 15/07/2007 23:15

Sorry for the essay. Wrote it in Word and pasted it. Got a bit carried away.

MrsThierryHenry · 15/07/2007 23:20

Just one more thing: www.newscientist.com/article/mg19426086.900-laughter-improves-breast-milks-health-effect.html

Okay, I'm really going now.

Gone.

XcupcakemummyX · 16/07/2007 06:14

went out with both of them yestereay
wow i wish i was a teenager again they really are in their own little worlds
i think ds nightmares are going or what ever unsettled him maybe i should leave you all soon
i hope there was some rest out there
have a good day

Tamdin · 16/07/2007 08:52

morning all. best night's sleep i've had in soooooo long. Ds still woke at 11 and 4 but it was only for 2 sec while he had some milk and got comfortable again. I was also able to go back to sleep really quickly so hence the good night.had a block of 5 hours then another block of 4. he didn't wake up until 8! (in our bed of course)

Tamdin · 16/07/2007 08:56

cupcake you forget how teenagers live in their own world don't you. all the giggling >>

Mrs TH what a busy week! Hope once his teeth are through things settle down a bit for you.

EP you can only persevere with the bedtimeroutine and hope it takes effect. remember it's only a phase.

Tamdin · 16/07/2007 08:56

meg hope late nap in car didn't ruin night's sleep

EffiePerine · 16/07/2007 09:23

Up every 1.5 hours as well - tell me it's just a phase...

actually think he mnight be revving up to start walking (eek!) as can stand really well now and is kind of cruising. Anyway, he's at the childminders, I'm at work with a large cup of tea and DH has probably gone back to bed!

I also love Cupcakemummy's haiku-style posts

Amberjee · 16/07/2007 09:28

ep, sorry things were tough last night. i reckon stick with the early bed routine for a weak, and if it's really doing nothing by then, then maybe its got nothing to do with it.

i've come down iwth a snotty cold , i think LO has a mild one too, but it didn't stop him doing really well last night. He went to sleep about 8, then I woke up at 2.30 with my boobs killing me, so i basically did a dream feed and put LO back. He woke at 5.45 , i fed him again then he went until 7.15. good night huh! but we will never know if he would have slept through if i hadn't got up to feed him

tibsy · 16/07/2007 09:29

morning cupcake and tam

cupcake - yeah teenagers, but remember all the angst as well

tam - glad you got plenty of rest my love

all this winking, looks like i got something in my eye

MrsTH - will check out that website sorry that your nights have got worse, as tam says, 'it's just a phase'....

EP, hope your night improved

Meg, hope the nap didnt scupper your chances of a good night

Amber, how was your night?

ginger and bags, where are you?

our night was good, compared to the previous one....bed at 7ish, woke at 9pm for a boobfeed, slept til 3.30am more boob then back to bed until 6.30am.
it'll ding dang do for me........oh, and my mans back too

Amberjee · 16/07/2007 09:30
