Yes ladies we've got a shiny new thread to share our woes of chronic sleep deprivation, to hail all that is gloreous when something works and throw our arms in the air when it all goes wrong again.

One bad night doesn't impress us, we're awake more than we sleep cos we is 'ard I tell ya.

morning all. for the early starts.
Tibs ouch for the sore nips!
usual night here. bed at 7.30 up at 12, 4 and 7.30 for the day
I was out last night at a friend's house (who is a beautician) being waxed head to toe and manicure pedicure. so nice to spend 3 hours being pampered.

Going to see our osetopath/homepath this morning for our 3 monthly check up so hopefully a bit of acupuncture later and i might feel less tired.

Catch you all later

the red wine helped but the weekend was a real blur
never went camping again
send half the the night squashed
in a tiny toddler bed
and feel blurry today at least their was some calm

Tamdin · 11/07/2007 09:16

x posted cupcake. that's why when ds goes into his own bed i'm going to buy him a double! at least that way if one of us does have to go in with him there's some room. glad teenagers weren't too wild for you

EffiePerine · 11/07/2007 09:19

MrsTM: the 1.5 hour wakings are the worst, I can never get much sleep in between. Good luck with the teeth

Writing off last night as DS not well at all - coughed so much when I was putting him to bed that he threw up . Coughing and snuffling most of the time, awake screaming at 1am, finally back to sleep after Medised and in bed with us about 2... he's still a bit wheezy this am so taking him to be checked out (if I can get through to the gp ).

Tibsy: I feel your pain (literally) - DS bit me three times last night

MegBusset · 11/07/2007 09:37

Cupcake, the last time I went camping was last summer, I was 6 weeks pg and couldn't take any hay fever meds, went to the Peak District not knowing that it's full of hawthorn bushes which it turns out I am HUGELY allergic to, I literally could not keep sneezing. Had to come home after one night, it was that bad. Now DS has bad eczema that seems to be made worse by pollen, so sadly I don't think we'll be going any time soon - I love camping tho

XcupcakemummyX · 11/07/2007 10:31

my ds has skin probs too
seems to come and go
i ought to be baking pizzas now to keep the teenagers away from the choc
dh and ds have gone out for a while
so quite calm here

Amberjee · 11/07/2007 10:31

I have hayfever too, totally sympathise. And I've been watching ds's eczema go up as I sneeze more and down when I'm less hayfevery.
Last night was good in terms of wakings, just one feed at 2am, but then awake at 5.30. tried to feed him back to sleep, bring him in bed, he just wouldn't have it, although he was grizzling sounding really tired the whole time.

Anyway, we had a horrible morning. LO too tired to be put down so i just held him while i had breakfast, then tried to put him back to bed and he wouldn't go without a real fuss. is about to get better soon though, I'm sure. LO just needed some sleep. And he's been napping for 2 hours, albeit with a waking in the middle. And I went to bed for a bit, so don't feel so horrid anymore.

It's a grey old day out there though - whereis our summer!

XcupcakemummyX · 11/07/2007 10:34

grey here today
one teenager with period pains
one still hiding

Amberjee · 11/07/2007 10:38

hey EP, sorry it sounds like sickness reigns in your household at the moment. hope you and ds get some rest. after the laundry can you take to the couch/bed for a bit?

Meg, I'm glad the 3 naps is working. It's been quite good for us for a while. Though I get the feeling it's about to alter, just how, I'm not yet sure.

Tibs, your poor piranha nipples. hate to say it, but if that's what's happening is likely that you're her dummy rather than needing food. don't know how to get around that though. i don't mind being a dummy as long as it's not painful though...

Bags, glad you managed a little rest with your dh helping out.

TH, hope the bonjela is calming ;things down a bit. 6 months in our house andstill no sign of teeth, though we've had some red cheeks and a lot of drooling (and whinging, but that's a given)

Tam, your evening sounds lovely - 3 hours, that is great! I'm looking forward to a leg was on saturday as I am currently cultivating forests on my legs.

cupcake - can I have one of your pizzas, pretty please?

Amberjee · 11/07/2007 10:39

where is your teenager hiding? sleeping? won't it be funny when our LO's are all teenage and we can't drag them out of bed before midday. sigh.

MegBusset · 11/07/2007 10:45

When DS is a teenager I am never, ever going to complain about him sleeping too much. Promise!

Re: legs, last week at Monkey Music I was sitting cross-legged on the floor and my trousers rode up to show legs that hadn't been shaved in weeks

Then I snuck a look at the mum next to me... guess what? she was flashing stubbly legs too

Amberjee · 11/07/2007 10:48

At least other mums will understand - where will we get the time!

XcupcakemummyX · 11/07/2007 11:07

jabberwocky · 11/07/2007 13:04

Hi everyone, sorry to hear about the grey days I've got a head cold that is throbbing at the moment and we have overnight guests due this afternoon so dh took ds2 on his own yet again last night, bless him. I'm wondering about teeth (he's 7 months, btw, MB). Very fussy when trying to go down. He wouldn't nurse just pulling off and grabbing my nipple - OUCH! I finally handed him off to dh who waited a bit then gave him a bottle of ebm which put him right out I did hear him wake up at least once, pretty loud and angry, will have to check in once dh gets up (we're in the US) and see how the night went.

I'm wondering if it's not time to put him in his own room. We stopped co-sleeping a couple of weeks ago and he has done pretty well with that. I have him in a crib in our room, though and am thinking it may be part of the problem. Don't know if I'm ready for him to be in his own room, though.

Amberjee · 11/07/2007 13:18

Jabber, often I think it is about US being ready, not our LOs. I left ds in a creche yesterday for 1/2 hour while i was at a course on site at the nursery. i kept looking through the window bit of the door to see if he was ok, and then i was so glad to get him back. i don't know how to let go!
i put ds in his own room at 4 months. i didn't really want to, but was desperate to help the nights go a bit better. i was waking up at his every noise, and he was waking up at my every noise as well, so to that extent it did improve things a little.

Amberjee · 11/07/2007 13:19

oh, and for your headcold.

MrsThierryHenry · 11/07/2007 14:15

Hi all,

So sorry for your bad nights and sore nips. Honestly, if it ain't one thing it's another.

Meg - I'm shocked you're not flawlessly groomed at all times of day. Being a super-duper alpha mum I'm always groomed up to the eyeballs and have never ever been known to do my makeup in the car. Or on the bus. Or on the train. Noooooo, not me. And as for after my DS was born...ahem. Am I the only one who's not had a decent haircut in over a year? Or, in fact, any sort of haircut, decent or not?

Well there's definitely a tooth appearing; ds spent last night in bed with me and dh slept in the living room. So I got a fairly good night's sleep as ds generally helps himself to milk when he needs it. Unfortunately the teething seems to have affected the ease with which he was falling asleep - today has been a nap nightmare.

In fact, he's late with all his naps and if I don't dash I'll be late for my hosp appt. Good day to you all.

xx

Amberjee · 11/07/2007 14:21

haircut? what's a haircut? [searches distant memory...]

Tamdin · 11/07/2007 15:04

amber or EP can i check something before i post? Can i use an extract from an article in my post/blog or does it belong to the newspaper?

MegBusset · 11/07/2007 15:28

[butts in]

Tamdin, copyright laws allow you to quote short sections of an article for the purpose of commentating on them, as long as it's not the whole (or most) of the article. (I used to deal with this kind of legal stuff in my old job.)

Tamdin · 11/07/2007 15:36

you're a star thanks meg. Wanted to use something in my blog post. It's only a small section

bagsundereyes · 11/07/2007 16:44

Tamdin, your blog post was lovely.
.

for all those allergy-suffers out there. Must be a nightmare.

LOL at Meg and Mrs. TH. My DH finally has a day off tomorrow after working through the last 4 weekends. So I will be taking a bath and sorting my legs out then!

We've had a lovely day - sun has been shining in central London. Had to pop up to town to get a friend's birthday present. Treated myself to brunch, where dd was an angel. She then took a 3 hour nap (she loves that buggy!) so I got a chance to window shop and have a stroll in Hyde Park. Her mammoth daytime sleep might come back to bite me on the arse later tonight, but it will have been worth it .

Sending good, sleepy vibes out to all for the night .

Amberjee · 11/07/2007 17:32

tam, no problem but best to reference it with author, title, source ... could even try to link to it
