So 9mo still wakes 3x a night (seperate issue lol). Just wondered what people.do to pass the time and stay awake? I usually read stuff on my phone set to night light but I would love to know if others have better suggestions to use the time...

Cosleep and doze back off again! No way I would make it through so many years breastfeeding otherwise.

Smurf123 · 14/07/2018 21:37

I read my phone also or sometimes my kindle

seasure · 14/07/2018 21:38

Cosleep, feed lying down and doze off . Only ever sat up and fed when they were newborns .

worriedupstairsneighbour · 14/07/2018 21:38

Could you listen to audiobooks?

ShottaSheriff · 14/07/2018 21:41

Kindle with a backlight is a life saver. I am reading so many books! Only downside is that I can get so into a book that I don’t realise that DD has been asleep for ages and I’m missing out on more sleep than I need to!

turkeyboots · 14/07/2018 21:43

I watched box sets with DD who was a slow feeder.

DailyMailFail101 · 14/07/2018 21:47

Just keep your eyes closed and doze, doesn’t putting a light on your phone wake you up so it’s harder to go back to sleep?

WerewolvesNotSwearwolves · 14/07/2018 21:47

Netflix. Couldn’t have done without it.

Freezingheart · 14/07/2018 21:48

I fed lying down and basically would end up co sleeping

user1493413286 · 14/07/2018 21:49

I watched Netflix on mute with subtitles; not sure how I would have survived without it.

ellesbellesxxx · 14/07/2018 21:49

Mumsnet... seriously the only way I could stay awake

PizzaAndChips · 14/07/2018 21:49

Another co-sleeper here. Stayed awake with DS by reading through utter crap on my phone and spending too much money on baby clothing websites, but with DD, it all got too much. I was falling asleep whilst holding her pretty much every night. One night I almost dropped her out of bed so I made the conscious decision to do what PPs have said and fed lying down so I could just nod off. I am well aware of the dangers of co-sleeping, but more concerning for me was the fear of nodding off whilst holding the baby!

So in answer to your question... internet shopping or co-sleep!

lashy · 14/07/2018 21:55

During the night... reading on Mumsnet or quietly playing Bejewelled on my phone.

AngkorWaat · 14/07/2018 22:04

Order shit on Amazon prime, bid on baby clothes on eBay, make weaning meal plans Grin

ProseccoPoppy · 14/07/2018 22:08

Internet shopping, watching Netflix or prime video on my phone (binge watch a lot of random series), mumsnet, news websites (have worked out that for example I prefer CNN to bbc). I am not ok with co sleeping at all - the idea really frightens me - so for me personally it was vital to stay awake.

Sandsnake · 14/07/2018 22:13

I just used to look at newspapers / Mumsnet on my phone (when I managed to stay awake...). Worse was the fact that I used to have to rock DS to sleep as he stopped feeding to sleep at around four weeks. That was grim, as could easily take an hour in the middle of the night and couldn’t look at my phone! I remember I used to close my eyes and pretend I was skiing down a beautiful mountain as I was rocking just to keep my mind away from how tired I was. In retrospect, I possibly went slightly mad... Grin

SillySillySausage · 14/07/2018 23:01

I ate flapjack and accidentally put on 3 stone without noticing until nothing fit anymore 🤦‍♀️

Mindchilder · 14/07/2018 23:02

Why would you try to stay awake? Aren't you exhausted??

SpaceDinosaur · 14/07/2018 23:04

Cosleeping

LastOneDancing · 14/07/2018 23:05

First time - mumsnet, games on phone.

Second time - co-slept! Lifesaver.

allthatmalarkey · 14/07/2018 23:40

Kindle paper white - you can turn the light on it so low the baby will barely notice. I use it to red to sleep now.

Jellybabie3 · 15/07/2018 01:40

Lol i am trying to stay awake @Mindchilder so I dont drop him. I feed him in a chair in his nursery (like now!!).

Kindle paper white is a great idea! I just have a tonne of physical books to read....darn christmas

Amazed how many of you revert to Netflix!! I think that would keep me awake way after feeding DS. I'd get hooked on something

Really interesting!!

@Sandsnake oh what a pain.... I rock DS very occasionally and I just stand there thinking 'take the boob!!' Way easier and atleast you can do something else at the same time.

I used to feed laying down when DS was in our room in the side sleeper thing......those were the days.....used to fall asleep all the time. I'd never get DS back to his room if i tried that now. We would both fall asleep (and he would fall out!)

Listened to many many audiobooks!

Mindchilder · 15/07/2018 07:27

Poor you Jelly you must be so tired, I'm awful on no sleep so just used to sleep through night feeds as much as possible!
DD is down to only one now which I do before I go to bed but I still bring her into bed with me if she wakes up between 5-6am.
