When did you move you dc to their own room?

Hi all. I know the recommended age is 6months, but has anyone moved their dc earlier?
Ds2 is 11.5 weeks old and he's pretty big. He's outgrown his moses basket and its getting that way for his crib. The crib is beside me in my bedroom. Last night he woke himself several times banging against the side and at 2am got his leg caught in the bars and screamed, nearly scared me half to death!! (he's very wriggly and big like I say). We are putting him in a sleeping bag tonight. The cot will not fit in our room at all. His room is very close to ours.
Also he is very grunty when he sleeps which is very loud and disturbs me and dh.
Any advice or experiences welcome. Thanks.

8 weeks, DS was sleeping though the night and there was no point in him being in with us anymore. He stayed in his crib in his own room until 4 months old when he was able to pull himself up to sit using the bars and it wasn't safe anymore so he went into a cot on the lowest height. We never took the baby monitor into our bedroom as we would have heard him cry anyway. No problems at all and hasn't effected his development or made him mute/unable to communicate with humans like some people would suggest

DS was 8 weeks - our bedroom had no space for a cot and his bedroom was just next door. We used to keep the bedroom doors open so could still hear each other breathe.

DD 6 months - we moved to a house with a much bigger bedroom so had space to keep her in with us til then.

Dd 4 months. Ds is 5 months and he starts the night in his cot in his sister's bedroom but I move him into the next2me with me when I go to bed. He wakes up multiple times a night where his sister used to only wake once for a feed.

Moved our twins at four months when they could no longer share a cot as they annoyed each other. We couldn't fit two cots in our bedroom! We would take turns to sleep on the floor in their room for a few months though.

Mine was 7 months, but in all honesty I wish I'd done it sooner. But, I suffered terribly with SIDS anxiety (even though we had monitors and a breathing sensor). If I'd put him in his own room I'd have never slept with constantly checking up on him.

It's only when I got professional help with this amxiety I put him in his own room. I should've got the help sooner.

I don't see anything wrong in doing it at nearly 12 wks.

7 months - when we moved to a bigger house and he could have his own room. I would have done it earlier had we had the space, we disturbed each other so much when he was in with us.

Monitors were on so we could hear him and he was right next door.

Yes at 10 weeks. DD was very long and outgrew the Moses basket and our bedroom at the time was so small that a crib/sidebar crib/cot was impossible (even the Moses basket was a squeeze and we couldn’t open the wardrobe). Our house was so small and the layout meant she was only about 6ft away even in her ‘own room’ and we left both doors fully open overnight. We all slept so much better, especially her, from then on!

This is totally missing the point of why they should be in with you...
It isn't for your convenience for night feeds. It is to lower the risk of SIDS

Ps it's not about them waking up during the night it's about them being close to their mummy's, 6 months is recommended to stop SIDS

4 weeks. i didn't sleep at all with the DC next to me. noisy little buggers! breathing, sighing, grunting. It was necessary for my health

15 months! I BF and co-slept. 6 months is the minimum to reduce the risk of SIDS. Please wait until at least 6 months, I have seen baby's unfortunately die due to SIDS in my line of work and it's heartbreaking.

10 months. DD had a snuzpod and didn’t start to outgrow it until then.

Don’t think I’d have got a wink of sleep through worry if I’d have moved her before the recommended guidelines of 6 months though. Do babies not need to hear you breathing in order to help regulate their own breathing when sleeping?

9 months. I take the SIDS guidelines seriously. We bought a travel cot (with a substantial mattress) when she outgrew the Moses basket.

6 months as cot fit in our bedroom so no need to go against the current SIDS guidelines. My 3 have all slept through from very young but that's not really relevant to why they share a parents room so didn't influence the decision to move them to their own room

Thanks all. Lots of different ages. I'm happy to keep him in with us to reduce risk of sids but not sure what my options are if he continues to grow as he is.

Can you get a single bed and put it in the baby’s room for you? We didn’t move DS until 8 months - we followed the SIDS guidelines.

Love all the people on here saying THEY needed sleep and it was bad for THEIR health. Maybe you shouldn't have had babies if you weren't prepared to be tired or not to put yourselves first. Guidelines are there for a reason.

We moved our son at about 5 months. He hadn't outgrown the crib but he was rolling about and moving and kept hitting the sides of it when he was asleep.

Around 6-8 weeks with DC1, birth with the others.

Everyone slept better that way. But you get the "you risked your child's life for your own sleep" parade on any thread like this. Calculated risks etc.
