DD is asleep on me...I've been contemplating trying the 'drowsy but awake' trick...Maybe in distant future Grin
She can self-settle by sucking her thumb, but chooses not to do it 99% of the time.

I'm talking nonsense, I know.

Jellybabie3 · 04/12/2017 21:17

@hastagtired amazing about your DD!!

I'm not ready.

DS has seemed off today. Reeeeeally sleepy. Falling asleep for long naps and on the boob after short feeds. Felt cool to touch so took temp and its 35.7C. I've bundled him up. Hes going to doc tomorrow for 8 week jabs but hopefully be better by then

theotherendofthesockportal · 04/12/2017 21:19

@AMagdalena I'm sorry to hear you are suffering so much with a reflux baby. I'm happy to hear there is an alternative to gaviscon, I was so worried it wouldn't work and we would be screwed.

I'm beyond tired now so I've come to bed, I hope I get some rest! I hope we all have good night tonight.

AMagdalena · 04/12/2017 21:23

@Jellybean I think that sometimes, too! DD is really grumpy most evenings.
There are times you just have to ride it out. Is it refux that's bothering him?

On a more positive note, my lovely friend is coming over tomorrow to look after DD while I have a nap and help out around the house (it's been a real pigsty since I came down with the cold). Good luck to her keeping DD entertained, I say 😂

Jellybean2017 · 04/12/2017 21:32

Think it might be reflux yes... He just struggles so much to get to sleep and stay asleep. I start trying to get him to sleep after 45 mins awake time usually, otherwise we end up in an overtired meltdown! Means lots of sling wearing!!

Ah that sounds like a lovely day to look forward to tomorrow!

AMagdalena · 04/12/2017 21:33

@theotherend The thing is that DD goes through periods of hardly any reflux followed by weeks of projectile vomiting. It's just what it is. I just want to know if it's caused by an allergy or will pass on its iwn.
There are quite a few medications you can try. All with side effects, unfortunately.

AMagdalena · 04/12/2017 21:47

@Jellybean Sounds like hard work. Does he let you put him down at all?
Sometines I envy those mums with really chilled babies.

Jellybean2017 · 04/12/2017 21:52

No, never let's me put him down, got visions of co sleeping until he is 10 at this rate 🙈 by which time DH will probably divorce me if we are still in separate bedrooms!! Keep telling myself it will get better. And I do have lots to be thankful for 😊

AMagdalena · 04/12/2017 22:02

Ofc, it will get easier. I wouldn't swap my mardy moo for a potato baby, don't get me wrong. It'd be nice to have my body to myself a bit more, though!
I hear you re separate bedrooms. My DB has been evicted, too. Needs must.

AMagdalena · 04/12/2017 22:21

Did I just settle DD in the cot?

AMagdalena · 04/12/2017 22:28

Just woke her up blowing my nose 😅

Meepmoop · 04/12/2017 22:32

Got DS to sleep, kept awake by my DH snoring for 45 minutes..

I’ve kicked DH out into the spare room so I can try and sleep and DS has woken up...

And I can still hear him snoring Angry

GimbleInTheWabe · 04/12/2017 22:49

Hi everyone! Sorry for the radio silence. I wish it was down to lots of delicious sleep but sadly not so. Had our worst night yet on Saturday and then was staying at my parents last night so that culminated in DS sleeping on my chest all night.
Also- how amazing is the chicco next to me?! My parents bought one for when we stay (which was really sweet) and it is so spacious and snazzy, love the ability to tilt the mattress so easily! We bought the snuzpod and I have serious cot envy- the next to me is so much better I think.

Anyway I have so much to catch up on in the thread so I shall check in again when the little dictator wakes me. He's currently being lulled to sleep by DP whilst I steal some zzzs.

DryHeave · 04/12/2017 23:31

Looking for some advice. Baby is now 5 days old and so starting to wee much, much more frequently. He hates being changed. How many times do you change at night in these early days and how do you handle this? Before a feed so he’s content afterwards? Or after and then get to settle a very upset baby?

It’s just that feeding is near constant and getting enough nappy changes in while also not upsetting him seems like an impossible task? Any tips?!

Sakura03 · 04/12/2017 23:35

Evening everyone😊
After very little sleep last night I managed to have a nap with ds for an hour before my dp came home from work and then he watched ds while I went for another nap from 7-8.15pm it was great!
Now the big question is will ds sleep tonight?? We shall see. I’m off to get him changed and fed and hopefully he’ll go down okay.

Sakura03 · 05/12/2017 00:35

Who am I kidding🙈🙈🙈😴😴😴

hollowtree · 05/12/2017 00:41

Hello! New to this... DD will NOT just give up and go to sleep! 13 weeks now... used to sleep through from 3 weeks but now struggling to get off to sleep and up twice a night.

What is happening!? It was all going so well! We have a lot of playtime during the day (bouncy chair, play mat, tummy time, chatting, rocking etc) but I can't seem to tire her out anymore!

We have just started breastfeeding so does that have something to do with it? I still top up her night feed with bottle fed expressed breast milk before bed to make sure I can see she's had enough. But no... we are not having it!

She's kicking her legs about and laughing to herself like she has been all night! I just can't win Smile

Jellybean2017 · 05/12/2017 00:54

Welcome back @gimbleinthrwabe! Yes i find the Next2Me excellent... for storing my water bottles, lansinoh cream and muslins etc, it would probably make a good changing area too as DS certainly won't entertain the idea of sleeping in it 😂 haha!

Jellybean2017 · 05/12/2017 00:57

@dryheave I used to change before every feed in first few weeks. However you can't really win as he will be upset due to being hungry... I just preferred this than waking him up and upsetting him. Depends if he poops mid feed too though. Hopefully someone else will have some more useful advice 😂

Jellybean2017 · 05/12/2017 00:59

@hollowtree welcome! Is your dd getting plenty of naps through the day? My DS is 17 weeks and still can't handle being awake more than an hour at a time without getting overtired...

Jellybean2017 · 05/12/2017 01:00

@sakura03 hope you're asleep!

hollowtree · 05/12/2017 01:01

Hi jelly thank you! Nope... hardly napping at all nowadays. Is this the 'regression' I've heard so much about?

Jellybean2017 · 05/12/2017 01:10

@hollowtree take a look here www.babycentre.co.uk/a7645/how-much-sleep-does-your-baby-need

I reckon she's overtired. Could be regression but if she isn't napping then she probably feels so tired she can't settle. I'm certainly not the expert though!

Sakura03 · 05/12/2017 01:10

@Jellybean2017 no he wakes after a couple of minutes in his cot. Just fed him again and we shall give it another go...

NonStopDisco · 05/12/2017 01:10

My next2me is also a storage area for various baby related paraphernalia. Had a couple of hour long naps this evening, but really just feeling tired and weepy that I’m up all night, every night, and DD is still not gaining enough weight!
@DryHeave I’m changing before a feed, partly because sometimes DD needs waking before a feed, and it’s just the habit I’ve got into. It does mean that she sleeps after a feed, but she still won’t go down in the crib every time.
