Oh sock that’s horrible for you all. Must be both upsetting and frustrating.

I’m all pumped out and DS sound asleep. Tempted to go nap but it’s 06:30 and might as well get properly and get on with the day. Bloody hungry anyway so early breakfast is now bad thing

AMagdalena · 09/12/2017 09:14

@GingerHanna My DD will be 19 weeks tomorrow.

ValentineFizz · 09/12/2017 09:42

@GingerHanna what a great update, well done you for sticking at it, l think you will definitely be onwards and upwards now 😀

ValentineFizz · 09/12/2017 10:12

We went to bed at midnight, DS woke at 4am and again at 7am for feeds - I much prefer this to the usual 2am then 5 or 6am wake-up, but we fed from 10pm til midnight to achieve it which was quite hard-going.... Any ideas if it's possible to encourage a routine at 5 weeks old? 😄

AccrualIntentions · 09/12/2017 10:44

I think my DD is a teenager in training at 4 weeks old. She refused to sleep until about 1am, then we had to lie in until 10 with a couple of feeds in the middle. Some of it was even in the crib, not on me (hallelujah).

Sakura03 · 09/12/2017 12:01

@GingerHanna lovely to hear the positive news. Yesterday Ds had another day of being more sleepy which resulted in hardly any sleep during the night and I had friends visiting during the day so I didnt nap with him. He wouldn't settle in his cot last night at all which although it can be a bit tricky we normally succeed eventually. So I had about 2 hours sleep and 4 the previous night. I did feed lying down from 6-8 and we both dozed off a few times as ds would then make me aware that he's come off my boob and needed help to get back on. So at least I had a bit of rest but I wish he'd go back to sleeping 2.5-3 hours at a time as this is exhausting! I attempted to express for the first time this morning but had to give it up as every time I got started ds would wake and cry... 4 weeks on Monday I really hope we'll start to see a change soon as this is starting to get to me Sad.
I'm taking him to a weigh in on Monday.
We booked flights last night so that we can go and spend Christmas with my family, I hope the journey will go okayXmas Smile

Jellybean2017 · 09/12/2017 13:32

Great news @gingerhanna! Hope things continue to improve for you.

So after yesterday, we put DS down for a nap in his cot this morning after we fed, changed, burped and cuddled him. We put white noise on (loudly!) which stopped him crying and he was calm. He has been asleep since 12.20. On his own, in the cot, looking restful. Praying it's not a one off and it works again later. 🙏

AMagdalena · 09/12/2017 14:44

@Jellybean Great news! Hopefully it's only going to get better from now on.

I have decided I have had enough of holding DD for naps, so for 2 naps today, I have settled her in the pram. White noise, dummy/swapped for her thumb. Took me a few minutes. Now I have my body back. Result!

theotherendofthesockportal · 09/12/2017 15:45

I'm dreading tonight. Today has been awful. DD has been awake since 10.30 having the odd 10/20 minute cat nap. Horrible crying sessions :( the neighbours probably think I am torturing her. Went to give her some calpol as I think she had the same lurgy as me and the bastarding syringe was missing.

Lovingtyrells · 09/12/2017 19:28

14 weeks now and only cat napping still! Just seen on chelsee heely from holly
oaks Instagram that she has to wake her baby up each morning !!!!! Wahhhh.

Yobo · 09/12/2017 19:52

Does anyone use an app to track sleep and feeds that they would recommend? Am finding it hard to remember time of last feed etc through the haze of sleep deprivation!

AMagdalena · 09/12/2017 20:16

My DD is 18 weeks and only naps for 33 mins (rarely for longer) 😁

NinaMarieP · 09/12/2017 20:45

@Yobo I use the Glow Baby app. I find it great for reminding me when he last fed etc and how much total sleep he's had.

ValentineFizz · 09/12/2017 20:54

@Yobo l use "Baby Tracker" android app and think it's great, l only use it for feeding and nappies but it does sleep as well.....

Yobo · 09/12/2017 21:05

Thanks will have a look at those, maybe I will find a pattern Grin

AccrualIntentions · 09/12/2017 21:09

I use Baby+ and have found absolutely no pattern whatsoever!

theotherendofthesockportal · 09/12/2017 21:23

DH took DD off me at 6 to give me a rest. She has been spark out since he picked her up and is now snuggled up down stairs. Although it delights me that she is asleep it has reduced me to tears, what am I doing wrong? Why won't she sleep for me? Why does she howl if I put her down?

Lovingtyrells · 09/12/2017 21:31

@theotherendofthesockportal it may be that she loves you most and wants to be with you. Probably more attached to your smell etc. My sister can put my DS down more easily than me, not that he stays down but I can barely even ever get him there !

theotherendofthesockportal · 09/12/2017 21:40

That's a sweet way of putting it @Lovingtyrells I need to work on a way of changing it though!

Jellybean2017 · 09/12/2017 21:40

DS went down in his cot again with the white noise for 40 minutes at bed time. I got into bed and laid here for about ten minutes and then he woke up so I'm just feeding him. Not sure I will have the heart to put him back in his cot again tonight though. He's done really well today. Don't want to give him mixed messages but equally don't want to upset him by going straight from co sleeping to alone in his cot all night... Was nice to have 40 minutes of a Saturday night with my DH knowing the baby was sleeping. Perhaps if we just keep persisting at putting him down for his naps and bedtimes he might start to get the hang of it. Although sleep regression will no doubt kick in! As we all keep saying, it's not linear so I'm going to enjoy the fact we had a good day today and hope for good nights all round tonight!

Ven83 · 09/12/2017 22:55

I've a different problem, DS doesn't tolerate being held by anyone else but me for more than a few minutes - including DH Sad

He also hasn't napped for more than 25-35 minutes at a time for the past week or so Sad he used to be able to nap for 2-3 hours. I thought daytime sleep was supposed to get consolidated into bigger chunks as they get older, not get fragmented like that...

I also use Glow Baby to track feeds, nappies and sleep/naps, I find it the most straightforward, although I hate how it keeps reminding me that my baby doesn't sleep enough. Apparently the average for other Glow babies is 143 minutes per session - seriously? Our average is 80 minutes per session.

Meepmoop · 09/12/2017 23:19

We’re on hourly wake ups tonight Shock

AccrualIntentions · 10/12/2017 00:13

DD just will not go to sleep. And every half hour that she doesn't go to sleep is a half hour closer to when she'll be hungry again, and need her nappy changed again...and the whole bloody cycle starts over again. DH is at his work Christmas party. If he is hungover and grumpy tomorrow I might actually kill him.

HashtagTired · 10/12/2017 00:53

I haven't said this for a day or so...

...I hate my bed.

Just finished feed #1.
I'm not an old person but my bed makes me feel like an old person. It's changed my back forever and I'm broken these last few days. Constant back pain because of this stupid bed.

HashtagTired · 10/12/2017 00:57

@Yobo we use BabyFeed Timer. It tracks everything though and has the usual graphs and average feed times etc. These things are only as good as the information you put in. I tend to just use it for sleep and poo nappies now but track feeds at night. This app stands out for me because it has an Apple Watch function too, which is great.
