Jellybabie We had the same problem with DD a few weeks back and were told to go to A&E by NHS Direct! It happened 3 times. In the end our GP ordered a stool sample test and nothing was found. DD was terribly constipated at the time, but her poos are less explosive now!
The cause remains a mystery...

HashtagTired · 11/11/2017 15:18

I understand infacol to be pretty harmless which is why it’s one of the few things newborns can have. It’s like us taking a herbal remedy - that’s what someone told me so don’t take my word for it!!
It’s true, though, that a baby could still have a reaction?

As for farts, infacol won’t help with that. It’s more of a burp assistant so preventative. Trying to get the air out before it gets into the system and takes a few days to really kick in, if at all.

For the vomit, is it possible an air bubble was trapped under a recent feed and as that came up the feed did too? It’s not uncommon and can bring up a surprising amount of milk.
Or the sensation may have actually triggered vomit?

I hope he is ok xx

Ah ok thanks. So infacol may bring an improvement in a few days?? Pharmacist recommended it but i am sceptical its the right thing for him.

Thanks for sharing magdelana. Ds has really struggled the past few days. You can see he is in pain passing wind and poo but its still very wet and yellow so not sure its constipation. Did about 6x poos yesterday.

HashtagTired · 11/11/2017 15:40

Don’t hold up much hope on infacol. Some say it works but most say it does nothing. I used it religiously for the first 7-8 weeks (from week 2) and not really sure if it helped. But I continued to use it just in case and there was no harm doing so.
Some move on to gripe water at 8 weeks.
Some go to colief.

Jellybabie3 · 11/11/2017 15:54

Ok. Gripe water is ok from 1 month so may be an option

GinUnicorn · 11/11/2017 16:36

My night was okay. She wouldn't go down until past 10pm but then 3 30 min feed and straight back to sleep!!

Personally I think infacol has helped but this could just be her getting older. Apparently week 6 is peak crying and it's all an improvement after.

HashtagTired · 11/11/2017 17:08

Your right JB3, gripe water is one month! It’s calpol that’s 8 weeks. I knew something was 8!

Jellybabie3 · 11/11/2017 17:17

6 weeks? Fab! We are at 5 weeks so i think we are gonna make it Wink

AMagdalena · 11/11/2017 17:33

I found 6-8 weeks to be the worst! DD was a total nightmare and screamed every 5 minutes Hmm

Jellybabie3 · 11/11/2017 17:51

Oh

AMagdalena · 11/11/2017 17:52

She was like a different baby after, though!
And she does have reflux hence the screaming.

I am about to try the Mimijumi bottle. Wish me luck. I NEED IT Grin

Jellybabie3 · 11/11/2017 17:55

Stupid question but those with cluster feeding velcro baby's like mine....how do you cope out and about? I haven't been out much thanks to my c section but i can drive in 10days (!!) I'd love to go xmas shopping or atleast to the supermarket and lunch etc but just cant envisage how atm! Ds wakes up screaming if i put him in pram. He will sleep once walking but wakes when i stop Confused

NinaMarieP · 11/11/2017 17:59

Similar here @AMagdalena. Most of his naps are no longer than 45 minutes even in my arms. If he sleeps longer it’s a surprise. One day he had 3x 1.5 hour naps and I was beyond amazed. He hasn’t repeated that feat yet.

I would say he’s pretty alert and inquisitive too. He’s very active on his gym, shouting and squealing and thrashing all limbs. He has to be sitting upright in my lap unless he’s asleep/sleepy/feeding so he can see what’s going on.

GinUnicorn · 11/11/2017 19:07

@jellybabie3 dd is 7.5 weeks and we have definitely seen an improvement since 7 weeks. Sending virtual support, sleep and wine x

AMagdalena · 11/11/2017 19:19

@Nina Your description of your DS sounds very familiar! Our babies must not need a lot of daytime sleep, it would seem. Just makes it this bit harder for us!

@Jellybabie3 I must admit I didn't venture out too far in the early days...DD was on the boob, what seemed like, all the time. It will get easier though!

Ohb0llocks · 11/11/2017 19:58

DSS is staying tonight and is making DP sleep in his room.

I’m really pissed off by this as DSS is a very early waker so that’ll mean no sleep tomorrow for me as DP till he knackered! He usually takes DS2 between 9-2ish.

Dunno if I’m being irrational or not but it’s well annoyed me.

Lovingtyrells · 11/11/2017 20:08

I am really sick of seeing sleeping babies out in their car seat pram! Jealous ! Just snoozing away.

Mine is crying on and off at the moment and wanting to feed then sick then repeat.

@Jellybabie3 I have been out and about from day 1 as I get too depressed staying indoors. My baby is really fussy / windy / colicky/ reflux and I just use the sling and carry on with what I am doing. Most places hve a changing room if I hear poos and also I Just Breast feed in public with a blanket.

Did anyone see an improvement with exploding poos ? Mine is 11 weeks and they are still Really bad I am constantly washing and getting through so many nappies !

Ohb0llocks · 11/11/2017 20:11

@Lovingtyrells or anyone else, could you recommend a sling/carrier? One suitable for a little newborn, DS is just over 7lbs and all the carriers I’ve seen look massive like he could camp out in them!

HashtagTired · 11/11/2017 20:15

I have a moby wrap (which I used one and couldn’t stand the faff) and I connecta which I used everyday for school runs, its perfect 👌

I highly recommend you give your nearest sling library. Not only are they fountains of knowledge and advice, show you how to wrap or sling safely, but you can hire slings for s small fee and try before you buy! Win win!

I have Ergo baby bundle of joy baby carrier 360 comes with a newborn bit. I’ve used since 4 weeks.

Jellybabie3 · 11/11/2017 20:38

Ok thanks. I'm going our whatever happens its just how long we last! I have a week to prepare but i cant wait to drive again.. Proper cabin fever!! Plus i love xmas!

Ds has been good today so fx for sleep tonight

AMagdalena · 11/11/2017 20:46

DD has been fighting sleep again this evening... She wouldn't settle for DH whilst I took a much needed bath.
I do think he doesn't try sometimes and just waits for me Angry
Since she's so tired, she's not having a bath....sadly as she enjoys it, but it'd only wake her up.

Hoping for some rest tonight...Not holding my breath.

And she took 10ml from the mimjumi bottle...She didn't kick off, but I don't think she knows what to do...
Well, that's me going out to work's Xmas do gone out of the window...

Jellybean2017 · 11/11/2017 21:11

DS went to sleep at 6.30 until 8.30, fed for half an hour and now asleep again! Only trouble is we are on the sofa and he's not ready for bed! Don't want to wake him so will have to just wait until next wake up! Starting to think I have just been keeping him up too late.

Ohb0llocks · 11/11/2017 22:26

DS2 has been asleep on me since I fed him at 8. Going to change his bum and feed him then try and get him settled. If not I’ll let him do downstairs with DP for a bit.
