I hate the colleague boasts. To be honest an kind of feeling like i am totally failing at the sleep thing. She doesn't self settle, can't get her to sleep drowsy but awake, daytime naps are rare, she wakes up at least 3 times per night.

The sleep thing gets better eventually right?

Lallypopstick · 16/11/2017 09:43

I’m at 16 weeks and sleep is up and down. We’ve had a rough few weeks, an improvement and then an illness which is leading to a lot of vomit and changes for me and him in the night.

I like the honesty of these threads as well. I’m sure some babies sleep really well, but whether they do or don’t is in no way related to what you as a parent do at this stage. Babies do what they want!

Jellybean2017 · 16/11/2017 09:47

It definitely helps knowing there are other honest mums here! ginunicorn I am at exactly same point as you. Fingers crossed it will get better really soon!

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 16/11/2017 09:48

@GinUnicorn I know how you feel, but you are absolutely NOT failing at this. It is down to the individual baby and not anything you are doing (unless you are feeding your child liquified Big Macs and bringing a marching band into their bedroom at night). I was told this with DD but never believed it until now, with a DS who is a bit better at this whole sleeping thing than his sister was.

And remember - infant sleep is not a linear thing, even the perfect sleepers have been affected by regressions, teething etc. And it's worth noting that she of the 'alarm stealth boast' has had her two year old DD sleeping in with her for the past few months because she won't settle. So, you know...Grin

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 16/11/2017 09:50

Oh and it does get better! DD now sleeps through the night - in her own room- something I never thought would happen. We had a particularly bad time of it - most babies I know got better about 12 weeks.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 16/11/2017 09:51

DS has been awake and irritable since 6am. Whhhhyyyyyy?

Jellybabie3 · 16/11/2017 09:52

I dont believe it. Put ds back down at 8am and hes still asleep. Part angry. Part overjoyed as he hopefully wont gst overtired again today and i did have a little nap. I'm now going to have a PROPER morning wash and a coffee!

And by proper i do mean i wash....its just usually at the speed lf light while ds cries

NinaMarieP · 16/11/2017 09:57

I gave up on the pillows and propping up by six weeks and have laid down for every night feed since then.

There was a nice phase where I dosed during feeds but my LO quickly lost the ability to stay on for a whole feed especially on the left so I’m constantly on relatching duty!

Still better than sitting up as once he’s done and asleep I can leave him there for ten minutes and then move him into his snuzpod, or like this morning just leave him there and go back to sleep.

Oh and YYY to nightsweats in the early weeks. Just my chest though. Lovely times!

Jellybabie3 · 16/11/2017 10:08

I so the same ninamarie re; lay down

Lovingtyrells · 16/11/2017 10:15

I also lay down to feed I can’t even move mine back to the cot so I try and sleep as soon as he starts feeding.

@AMagdalena deffo feel your pain with the eating out situation. Have to order something I can eat with one fork ! Oh wish I appreciated the little things more before !

I am totally failing at the sleep thing but I think it’s mostly the babies personalities. Also had messages at around 7 weeks saying “oh they should be sleeping through by now” Hmm

HashtagTired · 16/11/2017 10:36

Oh. Ok

No liquified Big Macs for ds today then... 😏

AMagdalena · 16/11/2017 10:41

I'm failing at the sleep situation, too and DD is 15 weeks! Some babies are rubbish sleepers like mine. Doesn't matter what I do.

As for the babies that sleep through at 7 weeks...
😂😂😂😂😂
😭
CERTAINLY NOT MINE!

AMagdalena · 16/11/2017 10:42

DD is asleeo in my arms after babbling for 2 hours. She needs a nap.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 16/11/2017 10:47

Absolute rubbish about the sleeping through at 7 weeks thing. Babies still need night feeds at that point!

Bear in mind all the effort we put into our little one's sleep actually makes us super parents IMO!

@hashtagtired liquefied veggie burgers are ok Wink

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 16/11/2017 10:47

DS finally asleep in his sleepyhead so to celebrate, I am eating ALL the toast.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 16/11/2017 10:52

And now he's awake again!!

HashtagTired · 16/11/2017 10:57

Maccy D’s is back in then.

Meeting a friend for lunch today. I’m going to be good and order a salad. Then the filthiest pudding on the menu 😜

AMagdalena · 16/11/2017 11:12

I put DD down and she lasted 10 min...
Out comes the bouncy chair!
She's laughing her head off, so not going great so far

Toonewtobehaving2 · 16/11/2017 12:24

Well mine are tag teaming me. DD had her morning nap justbafter 1030 So is due to wake at 1230 when her clock goes yellow. She's a wonderful sleeper at nearly two. But I did do the CIO method very early on with her. I know that's not for everyone But irbworked for us.
Now I have just managed to get DS to sleep and I have 8 mins to make a cuppa, wash my face and have a poo!

Lovingtyrells · 16/11/2017 13:31

What age and what method are people going for sleep training ? Is 3 months too early ? DS is 12 weeks next week :O

Ended up holding him in the restaurant and he fell asleep as he is exhausted from lack of naps over the past week or so.

Jellybean2017 · 16/11/2017 13:31

Hope you were able to complete all your jobs Toonew 😂

I've got DS in the sling and I'm dancing around the kitchen with loud extractor fan on. He is napping though. The things we do!!!

Lallypopstick · 16/11/2017 13:35

@LovingTyrells I think most methods of sleep training are advised from 6 months up.

Feel free to shoot me down if I change my mind but I don’t think I’d do any sleep training until 1 year. There’s another sleep regression at 8 months, plus you’ve got teething. Feel like it’s definitely not linear in the first year.

GimbleInTheWabe · 16/11/2017 13:36

Oh gosh we just had our first smile ❤️ luckily DP and I were both goggling at him so we both got to enjoy it. He even did a little nose wrinkle.

I now really don’t care that the new grey carpet is stained yellow with his explosive poop

theotherendofthesockportal · 16/11/2017 13:51

@GimbleInTheWabe how old is your baby? I can’t wait to get smiles!

My DD has been awake since 9.30!

I managed to sleep for 3 hours from 6.30 onwards, but like a moron slept on my front so now my scar hurts :(

AMagdalena · 16/11/2017 14:28

I'm going to do pick up put down at 6months, but it's a bit late for it, so the next step will be CC.
