Ds in snuzpod. Left leg deployed. I’m gonna hit the pillow and see if I can get some shut eye.

P.s. anyone else get really hungry this time of night? Now my body is used to being awake at these hours, it wants feeding 🙄

P.p.s - I hope you are all drinking plenty at night time during the feeds too. Gotta keep your fluid intake up! 👍🏻

Up for the next feed. Have woken every 20-30 minutes since last feed as DS screams in his sleep. Still dead to the world but it wakes us up fully. Hope this passes soon as it’s exhausting.

DH gets up with me to soothe DS during what must be the most traumatic nappy changing in the world and then prepare the bottle of expressed milk for topping up afterwards. Cannot wait until DS is strong enough to feed independently as we can then drop both the top up bottle and pumping after each feed. Will be bliss! Apparently should all be good by the time he is 3.5kg. He’s now 3.1kg and putting it on at around 40-60g a day so not too much longer. Save our sleep!

Jellybean2017 · 14/11/2017 04:27

Hope you are sleeping Hashtag! I do get really hungry and thirsty during the night!

I laid DS back down next to me, he slept and I didn't as he is so fidgety! We are feeding again now though. Good start to the night has not continued but at least I've had some sleep. And even some laying down! Bliss.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 14/11/2017 04:31

Hello all! Second feed here, just changed nappy.

@Hashtagtired ooh yes I get hungry all the time! I have a few snack bars up here, try to avoid them but a nibble does help keep my blood sugar up. Prob not having enough fluids though toilet trips take up valuable sleep time so should get on that.

Welcome @londonloves! Please don't feel bad - I am pretty much the queen of alternative sleeping arrangements! It's been that long since DH and I did more than a few nights in the same bed that I'm embarrassed to admit it. Due to a non sleeping DD, pregnancy and now our DS, we just found it easier all round to sleep separately. Survival is the name of the game in our house, especially as we both work. It doesn't seem to affect our marriage too much - we still managed to conceive DS after all Grin It does worry me sometimes but it is what it is, and sleep is too precious to jeopardise.

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 14/11/2017 04:36

I generally wait as long as I need to for DS to settle before transfer - after first feed he pretty much passed out straight away but this 2nd feed is always trickier. So prob around 30 mins...as the time passes and I try not to think of how much I long to sink back into my pillow and be claimed by delicious, wonderful sleep...Sad

mummarosie1 · 14/11/2017 04:47

DD is sleeping well tonight but I can’t quite drift off myself... argh!

When DD is in a ‘milk coma’ I tend to put her straight down before she has a chance to re-awaken. Sometimes she’ll thrash around awake for 20 mins but tends to settle herself eventually. Although she thrashes around in her sleep as well so it’s hard to tell what she’s doing 😂

GingerHanna · 14/11/2017 04:48

And he’s just filled his nappy whilst burping him. So now I have to change him which will wake him up again. Bugger.

Oh well. Let the screaming commence.

GingerHanna · 14/11/2017 04:59

Wide awake and rooting. I still need to pump. It’s frickin 6am and I want some slerp!

super12356855 · 14/11/2017 05:07

Currently sat on my dd floor scared to creep out incase I wake her and also had broken sleep earlier with DS who has Chicken pox. I want to sleeeeppp!! Hubbys alarms goes off in 20 mins...

Jellybean2017 · 14/11/2017 05:41

DH does a nappy change before he leaves for work and I cherish those few minutes to lay on my own in bed like a starfish 😂

EEandEmakes3 · 14/11/2017 06:04

My DP went back to work last night after 2 weeks off. I’ve been really dreading looking after my DS on my own overnight but I’ve made it through somehow. He’s managed gaps of about 3 hours between feeds but he’s a noisy sleeper, which might be caused by colic. I’ve been gently massaging his stomach & doing the little bicycle leg kicks but he was still making lots of noise during the night.

mummarosie1 · 14/11/2017 07:07

Congrats EEandE :) I’m on day 3 by myself- we can do this!!

HashtagTired · 14/11/2017 07:15

My dh couldn’t sleep in our bed at the moment as it has been set up for optimal night night feeding.
I have the snuzpod attached to the side of the bed as an extension and against the wall, so the double bed has been pushed up against it to ensure it doesn’t drift away. So the snuzpod is kinda pinned between the wall and the bed.
I sleep sorta central but more on the side of the snuzpod.
On the other side of the bed is a small basket. I keep it topped up with nappies, wipes, nappy bags, cream, muslins, spare sleepsuit for ds, spare PJ top for me (sometimes boobs leak), paracetamol, big bottle of squash.
I also have an extension lead for my phone charger so I can charge and use it at the same time, whilst feeding in bed.

Before bed each night, I too it up, change the items that need changing.

I literally don’t have to move out of bed unless for a wee.

Right. Time for me to get up. I have a mummy and buggies fit class to get to this morning. At least it isn’t raining!!

Last night was a really bad night for me, DD cried every time I put her back in her crib even though I thought she was asleep. Each time ended up cuddling her until she fell asleep. I’m worried I’m making a rod for my own back.

I have to do all the night feeds as DH works with heavy machinery and is more use to me alive. I wish he had a desk job, falling asleep at desk wouldn’t be an issue. I’m feeling very resentful this morning.

AMagdalena · 14/11/2017 07:58

DD would not be put down after the first 'stretch'.
I think I got some sleep, but I decided not to look at the clock anymore...

mummarosie1 · 14/11/2017 08:42

Question: how does one safely have a shower when alone with baby?
Wait til napping somewhere safe and go for it? Or sit baby in chair somewhere within eye sight of the shower?

Jellybean2017 · 14/11/2017 09:06

@mummarosie1 I put DS in bouncy chair and he comes in bathroom with me while I shower 😊

WhoAteAllthePercyPigs · 14/11/2017 09:19

Morning all. Actually not a bad night here. Tried a swaddle on DS and it seemed to work, or at least it was a coincidence that he slept well. Two wakings for feeding, slept till 8 which was nice! Prob a one off but I'm taking it. Typically I feel more tired today than yesterday though!

@mummarosie I used to take DD into bathroom on a bouncy chair. Which worked great till she rocked too vigorously and nutted the bath!

Just had a big argument with DH, had been brewing for a while. Because of my section, all the housework and most of the toddler care is on him. I hate being out of control and having to ask him to do stuff; he in return doesn't like me 'nagging' him even though I'm trying to ask respectfully! Not helping both being tired.

Jellybabie3 · 14/11/2017 09:51

Morning all. Good ish night here. Ds slept 8.30pm til 1.30am! Although i expected him to wake so didnt go to sleep myself til 10.30pm....dammit.

He then woke at 4.30am and we both fell asleep til 6.30 when daddys alarm went off. Currently camped on the couch.

Didnt drink anything in the night so mega headache. Stupid me.

Jellybabie3 · 14/11/2017 09:53

percy i had same argument with my dh at weekend.

He calmed down but kept saying it will be diff when i have 6 week check up and can drive. Thats next week......cant help but think not much will change as ds is so clingy and wont go down.

How am i meant to wash and iron with a velcro baby??

HashtagTired · 14/11/2017 10:44

@WhoAteAllthePercyPigs I did lol at your showering comment! 😊 but not at your dh comment. It’s hard isn’t it. If it’s been brewing, hopefully it has cleared the air a bit? How did you leave it?

OP posts:
HashtagTired · 14/11/2017 10:46

@Jellybabie3 first of all .... why are you ironing??? Seriously. Prioritise! 😉
I don’t iron even on a really good day. My dh is in a while to profession that he wears scruffs to work so we only iron for weddings and funerals!

OP posts:
Jellybean2017 · 14/11/2017 10:46

I often don't make it downstairs until gone 12. I take my hat off to those with more than just a baby to think about! I don't manage to do any housework during the week unless my parents come and watch DS for me and even then I nap rather than do housework

Luckily DH realises being at home with the baby is a 24/7 full time job 😂 I have had to lower my housework standards though.

Jellybean2017 · 14/11/2017 10:48

Also DH has to do his own ironing (I made that very clear when we moved in together as I don't iron anything hahaha 😂)
