DetentionGrrrl · 23/01/2007 07:32

Ds didn't sleep through until he was well over 1, and is now a bloody brilliant sleeper (he's 4 next month) despite us not doing anything differently, so there is a cheerful tale.

ssd · 23/01/2007 07:40

ds age 5 nearly 6 hasn't slept thru for oh at least 3 years, wakes up every night with a blocked node, covers kicked off and comes into our bed.

ssd · 23/01/2007 07:41

nose

wouldn't wish a blocked node on anyone!

Baymarie · 23/01/2007 07:42

DS only just sleeping through sometimes (nearly 14 months)
DD didn't sleep through til nearly the same age, is now 3 and has stopped again - argh!

EllieHsMum · 23/01/2007 07:59

DententionGrrrl You are not alone my dd who 8 months has never slept through. We've tried various things nothing appears to have worked. She only has 2 power naps during the day too. Some nights are better than others. Sorry I can't give postive advice. If you found the magic solution please let me know

SturdyAngel · 23/01/2007 08:05

Can I please join. Both DS's have never slept through- 3 yrs and 9 months. Not entirely sure how I am still functioning!

Pixiefish · 23/01/2007 08:06

Dd 3 at the ned of the month- wakes with excema scratching most nights, either cries for me or sneaks into our bed.
Also have problems getting her to go to bed- if she isn't tired she just will not go. This means she can be up horrendously late as she just doesn't need much sleep

harpsichordcarrier · 23/01/2007 08:14

14 months....

purplemonkeydishwasher · 23/01/2007 08:47

16 months and counting here!!!!

BikeBug · 23/01/2007 09:46

10 months now... Still waking every 2 hours or so. Twice (ever) has done 5 straight hours. Last night was the worst one ever - DH and I both up with DS from midnight to 3 am. I have lost all my confidence at work, and I swear in part it is down to sheer sleep deprivation.

wotzsaname · 23/01/2007 09:56

dd1 - about 4 yrs
dd2 - about 6 months

dd1 - now 10 and sleepwalks and still has very little sleep.
dd2 - now 7 and sleeps all night, cant get her up.

It does get better. Lack of sleep is one of the worst things. I still mums who have sleepy babies.

when dd1 was born she slept for only about 3 x 30 mins naps in the first 2 days. It might have been more but thats all i can remember!

Notquitesotiredmum · 23/01/2007 10:04

Ds1 slept through for the first time, just before he was 3. Now can't get him to wake up.

Ds2 now 3.5 and has only slept through 3 times. It does get easier though - a quick cuddle and we are all back to sleep.

lucykate · 23/01/2007 10:07

dd, started sleeping through at 2yrs
ds, started sleeping through at 17mths

meowmix · 23/01/2007 10:16

DS 3.4 - never slept for longer than 4 hours at a stretch, despite following every trick and tip, wakes up full of beans at 2am with regular monotony to ask me bizarre questions (last nights was "Mummy... you know toes .. why are they?" "Go back to bed you lunatic" sez she of the baggy eyes).

He has boundless energy and healthy vitality. I have grey fatigue seeping oiut of every pore.

The bad news is that till I fell pregnant I was an insomniac. I may never sleep through again.

Khara · 23/01/2007 11:42

Dd is 2 tomorrow and has never, ever slept through the night. Most she's ever slept in a stretch is 6 hours, but that's unusual. Usually she's awake 2/3 times a night. And she refuses to go to sleep in the evening, it's usually about 9.30 - 10pm before she finally goes off. Then she wakes at about 12.30am, 3am and quite often at about 5.30am. She usually settles within 15 mins, but only if she has a feed. Oh, and at 5.30 she usually wants a wee.

She would sleep for 2 hours during the day, but I've cut her back to 40 mins, but doesn't seem to make any difference.

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 23/01/2007 11:47

DS is six and a half and has slept through only a handful of times ever.. and then I was awake to see "what was the matter with him". I don't dwell on it anymore; he has SN/complex needs and this is going to be my whole life forever I expect (he'll never be independent) so best not to think about it.

Sleep clinics can be useful (you need an HV referral) but at 7 months they won't refer you. My NT kids only started sleeping through at 11 and 14 months.

My ds is nearly 2 and has never slept through! I've given up thinking about it much now though tbh

hunkermunker · 23/01/2007 11:53

12m. DS1 is 2.9yo and wakes up upset sometimes for obscure reasons such as "Thomas the Tank Engine has too many jobs to do and I'm worried about him".

Drug her Fio! How many times does she wake? Do you have to go to her every time? (We "ignore" DS as much as possible..) But DD's on another floor isn't she!

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 23/01/2007 11:57

Ah but DS has slept though.. he just scares me when he does!
