Hi everyone. I thought I'd create this thread when I saw that there were quite a few of us lingering on the 4 month regression thread, with babies that clearly didn't get the memo about things getting better!

I've seen another thread for parents whose children are long term poor sleepers but I think it's been relegated to zombie status. So I hope nobody minds if I start another one! If your LO consistently struggles to sleep, whether it's down to diet, night terrors or just sheer bloody mindedness, please pull up an armchair and join in! I'll supply the espressos, hugs and chocolate, wine and tears served after 4pm.

I'll start: my DD is 25 weeks. She's gorgeous, adorable and the absolute light of my life. Unless it's between the hours of 7pm and 7am! She's struggled with sleep always. I thought things would improve following the 'fourth trimester' but she got a cold, reacted badly to her jabs...and before I knew it we'd cruised into the 4 month regression. Which she's either still in, or she's teething, or developing, or wonder weeking, or fck knows really!

The past two weeks have been particularly painful and I feel I'm reaching the limits of my endurance. I love being her mum, I love spending time with her...but not sleeping makes it oh so very hard.

I have found Mumsnet to be a wonderful source of support during those dark and lonely hours when you feel like you're the only person in the world going through this. So I wanted to give back and support others too.

I'll put the kettle on...

Yep will be a crap night here Sad

I have no idea about the mango, I wouldn't have thought that would be an allergy, but you never know. I see people on that Facebook group who's children have all random fruit/veg allergies aswell as the milk. Hope the sick stops for you soon.

starfish12 · 13/12/2015 18:55

I know... I don't think he's as bad as some of the poor mites on that group. Hope your night isn't too bad...
...same goes for everyone else x

thinkfast · 13/12/2015 19:16

Avocado really really disagrees with me so wouldn't be surprised plus mangos can be very acidic so wouldn't be surprised if that didn't go down too well

Seems like dd is getting another cold which would explain the crap night last night. Feel so bad wishing this time away but I really can't wait for her to grow up!

starfish12 · 13/12/2015 19:24

Omg I think the same think. Tantrums aside my 2 year old is ace and I just keep willing time along until DS2 is this age... in fact it's all I think about sometimes!!

Lilipot15 · 13/12/2015 20:09

Well DD2 managed a record 40 mins in her cot before screaming. It at least allowed me time to tidy up and get ready for tomorrow, with a glass of red Grin
She had shorter naps than normal today apart from an epic one through church, I didn't get to chill though (does one chill in church?!) as DD1 was in full on toddler mode. Of course!

Starfish, my eldest was funny with avocado first time, I just avoided it, but I'm pretty sure she's had it as guacamole at nursery by now. And she had a scary choke on a bit of mango the other evening. She coughed it up but it gave me an awful shock. Put me right off any thoughts of pure baby led weaning for the baby!!

zombiemeow · 13/12/2015 20:42

Glad I'm not the only one on the wine again!

Fingers crossed everyone!

Purpleboa · 13/12/2015 21:13

A better night last night meant I had wine tonight. Hopefully I won't regret it...good luck everyone!

We just had our first wake up, and I can hear movement upstairs now. I'm sat watching twilight with a LARGE glass of wine.

I'm not really counting tonight though due to the reaction.

I was seriously considering asking my gp for anti depressants earlier but I know for a fact my low mood at the moment is all due to lack of sleep.

thinkfast · 13/12/2015 21:23

Zombie lack of sleep messes with your mood like nothing else!

On 3rd wake up already. Yawn.

3sugarsplease · 13/12/2015 21:40

On the first wake up so far...Confused

thinkfast · 13/12/2015 21:57

She's got a cough. No sleep all round then...

thinkfast · 13/12/2015 21:58

I feel marginally better about the lack of sleep when there's a fathomable reason like this though. It's the hours awake in the middle of the night when you have no idea why which drive me round the bend

zombiemeow · 13/12/2015 21:59

Sounds like everyone is in for a shit one.

Ds is up for the 3rd time already, just as I was going to bed. He shows no sign of going to sleep any time soon.

Lilipot15 · 13/12/2015 22:18

Well I think I made a mistake in bringing her downstairs whilst I ate my dessert. Now she's wide awake, grinning and generally being lovely. But seems she thinks she's had a nice nap and isn't ready for sleep, unlike me!!

Bugaboom · 13/12/2015 22:49

Argh just wrote a post and it didn't work. We're up too was the general gist

thinkfast · 13/12/2015 23:44

Anyone else over indulge in chocolate when up in the middle of the night?

Bugaboom · 13/12/2015 23:46

I would if I hadn't ended up in bed with DD already and if she would unlatch for just 1 minute. This is beyond ridiculous. I HAVE to night wean.

Bugaboom · 13/12/2015 23:47

Now I really want chocolate...

Purpleboa · 14/12/2015 03:05

How are we all doing? Feed at 1130 then 2...and now she's wide awake, feeding again and scratching me and pulling my hair. No gratitude eh!

I know I shouldn't, but probably going to take her into bed and let her sleep on me. It's just too cold to be out of bed and I feel too tired and achy to keep up the endless rocking, PUPD and shush patting nonsense that can go on for hours...

Lilipot15 · 14/12/2015 03:40

Zombie, meant to say earlier I have been where you are in nearly going to GP to discuss my mood. Then I realised that if I had better sleep I would feel fine!

Was thinking earlier how different life must be for those whose babies sleep well. I do meet an odd person who says "all I do is give him his dummy and muslin and he's asleep". I am so envious. I love mine so much but I do wish sleep (or lack of it!) was not such a feature!

Purpleboa · 14/12/2015 05:33

I know Lilipot. They make it sound so damn easy don't they? I have a friend whose baby sleeps from 7 to 8, yet she was complaining she never has time to get anything done! I was like, if my baby did those hours I'd have conquered the world by now!!

Bad night. Been awake since 2am. Ended up taking DD into bed but as it's a single one in her room, I have her lying on me so I get no sleep. Could cry.

zombiemeow · 14/12/2015 06:36

ChocolateChocolateChocolateCakeCakeCake for those who need it!! I definitely indulge in a bit of crap when I'm up at night. The other night I ate a whole samosa at about 3am (a bloody big one).

And yes to conquering the world of our babies slept, we would be dangerous.

Ds only had about 4 wake ups in all which I was surprised about, the longest was at 11 and he was up for an hour. He woke up at 4.30. We have the end of his reaction to deal with, Diarrhoea, which is near impossible as he hates having his nappy changed.

Lilipot15 · 14/12/2015 06:55

Oh yes!! I felt it was a treat to have 40 min to myself yesterday evening. If I had 7pm-8am to myself I think I'd have an immaculate house, an amazing relationship, would be broadening my horizons by say learning a new language, would have a social life and do all sorts of fab crafty activities with my toddler that I'd prepared the evening before Grin

Instead I just keep going, and try not to shout at someone who says they are tired as their baby woke once Wink

I also nurture this little idea that my babies aren't great sleepers as they are bright and sparky babies Grin Which they are of course!!

Lilipot15 · 14/12/2015 06:57

Zombie, hope the nappies improve. I groan when I know we have to do a middle of the night change. Flowers

Bugaboom · 14/12/2015 09:03

zombie hope he improves quickly. Dd treated me to a mid nappy change poo this morning. Just what I needed after last night. I think we're going out for coffee and cake. That's about all I can stretch to today.
