Thought I'd start a new thread as I couldn't see another one yet (will get HQ to delete if already up and running).

Tis good to talk.....

One nap! Wow! Maybe LO will be so exhausted it'll be a fab night's sleep tries to see the positives
Trying DS in the cot in the other bedroom tonight for the first time. Scared!

CuteLittleToes · 18/05/2014 20:54

How did the rest of the night go, cake?

Cakeis, my DS sometimes survives on 2 naps 30 mins each... Don't know how, he's only 6 months. I guess he'll bd one of those babies who stop napping quite early altogether...

Mirrhi, good luck with the cot!

Last night was much better, mainly because I decided not to faff around with putting him back into his crib. I think he even did 5 hours but I'm not sure... But then in his crib he also did almost 2h at first, and then 1h15m after that.

It still remains a mystery why if he does 3h stretch in his crib he can't continue sleeping in 3h blocks throughout the night, and why he can do this if he's with me in bed... Confused

Booville3 · 18/05/2014 21:05

Well my nights are getting worse & worse & worse!!! My bedtime & evenings which were our only redeeming feature/ positive thing are becoming dreadful also!!

I'm tired, full of cold (I never get colds), & fed up that is all! Hmm

missmargot · 19/05/2014 07:41

Boo I'm so sorry that things are bad for you. Did you have a better night last night?

We should be leaving for the house for nursery and work right now but we've only just woken up. DS was awake from 1am until 5am and I ignored the 6am alarm. Not a good start to the week.

cakebaby · 19/05/2014 07:51

Oh bloody rotten news everyone, things are on the slide here too Sad

I just can't stand the unpredictability of it. Ds was a dream to put to bed on sat & slept OK til 430 when dh got home from work. Last night he was a total PITA, not asleep til 830 then wouldn't stay asleep. Up at 0010, 1, 215, 345, 410, 520 up for the day FFS. Infant acrobatics in sleeping bag, trying to climb out of cot and he nearly did it too WTAF is going on? He's 8.5 months now, its going backwards.

cakebaby · 19/05/2014 07:56

cute IIRC sleep is deepest at the start of the night, then from about 3 ish its much lighter so they wake more or are more easily disturbed. Certainly my ds at 6 months slept MUCH better with me in the early mornings, even if he woke or stirred, the closeness and immediate comfort, even a hand on his chest or a shh sent him right back off. Its bloody worn off now though.

soupmaker · 19/05/2014 10:00

Cake. We're over a month ahead of you and at about a month ago DD2 was exactly like that. Crawling, standing up etc, etc. There is probably some bloody massive developmental leap that sends them bonkers at that stage and I know DD2 had a growth spurt on too.

Boo, sending you Thanks and Wine. Sleep deprivation is such a complete bastard. No wonder it's used as torture. Hope you've had a better night.

cakebaby · 19/05/2014 11:08

Thanks soup he's bloody knackered this morning but will he nap for more than 30 mins? Of course not, what a ridiculous idea. He's changing so much developmentally, standing, cruising, very demanding, everything is wrong he's wolfing solids and drinking loads more milk, through the night too. So maybe it is just a spurt. Jesus I hope it's not like the last one which lasted weeks and nearly sent me loopy. Our bedroom feels like a torture chamber at the moment.

Cakeismymaster · 19/05/2014 14:42

cake I'm having same issues....crawling, pulling up to stand, constant hunger, more milk, crap naps - today's was from 2-2.40pm - that's it! Goes to bed ok but then the wake ups start within 30 minutes - I was up there 4 times by 9.30 last night.
Dare I even mention the 9 month sleep regression...I mean, seriously? We haven't even got past the fg 4 month one yet!!

cakebaby · 19/05/2014 15:00

FFS, we're going to be on a third thread aren't we?

God ladies I did think we would be ok to pastures new by now, I must admit ds treated me to a brilliant night, took a while to settle but it was fair to be hot & I've not yet sorted him a summer sleeping bag so he was in a vest with a blanket so I think it felt odd to him, however, he slept 8-1.45 only took til 2.15 to feed & re-settle back in his cot then he woke again at 4.15 quickly got him in bed with me this time as I feared we would be up for the day if not & he slept again til 6.20 so I'm happy with that just wish he would keep it up I know I will be up every hour & a half again tonight!!

soupmaker · 19/05/2014 16:41

Glad you had a better night Boo. Makes a massive difference to your sanity when they give you a decent stretch.

I'm not listening to anything about 9 month sleep regressions (sticks fingers in ears and hums loudly).

Mirrhi · 19/05/2014 20:58

Well first night in the other bedroom didn't go brilliantly. To be fair to him DS did well until 2.30am, then we had to do a triple nappy change as he kept pooing, by whichttime he was wide awake. Took til 3.30 to get him back to sleep, then he woke at 4am howling and continued to do so on and off for the rest of the night. I spent much of it stood rocking him as it was the only thing that settled him, and got a few brief periods when I managed to sit on the bed with him asleep on me before he started howling again.
He's had the runs for a few days and has seen GP so I think he was in discomfort, so I forgive him, but feel horrendous today having pretty much been awake since 2.30 Sad. Hoping for a better night tonight as his belly has seemed to be a bit better this afternoon.

Booville3 · 19/05/2014 21:49

Yes soup it restores your faith that they are capable of those longer stretches which gives you hope for the future, if that makes any sense?!

Gosh Mir poor little chap he will probably be exhausted tonight & relieved he is feeling better & sleep right through! Everything crossed for you anyway!!

missmargot · 20/05/2014 01:52

I feel like I am going slowly insane. I haven't been to sleep yet. I feel ill, my throat is so sore it hurts to breathe or swallow and all I keep thinking is that I have to be up for work in four hours.

Booville3 · 20/05/2014 07:49

Oh missm you poor thing, being poorly is terrible with a non-sleeping baby thrown in! Hope you managed a couple of hours!

Cakeismymaster · 20/05/2014 09:53

Sympathy missm
Horrendous night here too, and have settling in at childcare today so no doubt tonight will be just as bad if not worse

cakebaby · 20/05/2014 10:03

Sympathies everyone, shit here too. Up at 430. Urgh.

Hi Ladies, sorry to butt in - My DD was a great sleeper til she was 6 months - then she learned to stand and would do so several times a night, but got stuck - I considered sticking her sleep suit to the cot but thought better of it. The sleep regression lasted many months - but I discovered foods to make her sleepy and acupressure to help her fall asleep quicker and sleep deeper. If it helps at all - here's the info on it - mydaughterwontsleep.com/2014/05/18/sleep-inducing-foods-for-you-and-your-child/

mydaughterwontsleep.com/2013/12/27/the-sleep-inducing-power-of-acupressure/

It does get easier x

Nousernameforme · 20/05/2014 18:07

I think we have hit the 4 month sleep regression a bit early do you find it effects their day time naps as well. Ds isn't sleeping for more than 20 mins a nap so little and often being hugely crabby in between as well as waking 2/3times a night instead of the usual 1

missmargot · 20/05/2014 18:23

Collected DS from nursery early with a slight temperature, a cough and gunky eyes. Poor thing probably has what I have so we will be feeling sorry for ourselves together.

Mirrhi · 20/05/2014 21:13

We had a much better night last night thankfully, still lots of wake ups (10.45, 12.30, 1.30, 3.30, 5.30 and 6.50) but he fed and went straight back in his cot and to sleep with no fuss at all. Amazingly he went back after his 6.50 wake up too, and slept til 8.15! Result is I feel much more human and he's been a delight all day, full of smiles and no grumpiness :-D
Definitely keeping fingers crossed for tonight.....

cakebaby · 20/05/2014 22:10

Well done minimirrhi some good news at last!

Poor little missds hope you both feel better soon Flowers

Welcome nouser yep, everything went to pot for us! 20 min naps sound familiar too. How old is ds?

OP posts:
missmargot · 20/05/2014 22:22

nouser we've had similar too, all from about 3.5 months. DS used to sleep through the night laughs bitterly

A visit to the walk in centre for us tonight as DS seemed really poorly and he had congenital pneumonia which has left me paranoid. The centre was great, checked him out really well and diagnosed a nasty but non sinister virus. They unofficially diagnosed me with the same. Poor baby, I hate him being ill and not being able to make it better for him.

keepitgoing · 21/05/2014 07:07

hi all we are on hols. sleep has been shocking with hourly wakes even in with me and hard to settle. I thought it was being elsewhere but then yesterday the first tooth popped through. I feel guilty... last night gave calpol and had a 3 hour stretch till midnight when it was shit again

cute £200. no money back as it's up to us to implement iyswim. she is there for 5 weeks to help us though.
