Yoohooo! Over here!

The last thread was filling up so I've started us a sparkling new one.

The original thread was to support those of us with babies fitting the following criteria:

  1. Feeds frequently daytime
  2. Feeds frequently nighttime
  3. Needs to be constantly held
  4. Wont sleep alone
  5. Hates the car seat/pram
  6. Short naps

Some of our babies have grown out of some of those now, but we're still here to support each other through the sleepless nights and noisy car journeys and to offer hugs, chocolate and wine to anyone who's struggling.

So if that list sounds familiar then come and join us as we delight in our active, inquisitive, curious and restless babies or toddlers!

I needed one of those, raspberry hope pesky settled cold season is no fun. :(

Friend is generally lovely but they just do not get it, I don't know how you lot feel but I feel like stamping "tried it" on cards and handing them out - side sleeping? Tried it, swaddling? Tried it. Pickup put down? Tried it. Formula? Tried it. Rolled blankets? Tried it. And on and on, until you get "gp? Because that's not normal?" yes thanks Hmm.

I'm going home to mums for a week tomorrow so should get some daytime sleep while she's on duty whoop! Think dh has realised im at breaking point, I need it monkey has yet again had a grand total of 2 hrs sleep. DH works nights and is trying to set up a new business in the day so not much help.

Help any ideas for a 13 nth old who will occasionally be left if stored but that has to be totally asleep before going anywhere near his cot. Hasn't taken to any comforter except screaming and even if had hardly any sleep at night will only nap for 30-45 mins at nursery?

Lol at stored.

I can't help DD1 was an excellent sleeper and DD2 is only 4 months.

Have cracked how to get monkey into her cot, put her down with the v pillow snuggled around her head and she stays down even when half asleep.

Shame it's a solution that means I still can't sleep as its a suffocation risk

But squeeeeeee off to grandmas tomorrow :)

How's everyone's evening going?

YouSmegHead · 14/10/2012 10:00

Grin at iPhone typo, sounds like the soultion!

Thanks for the tea and the matchsticks. Friday night was spent downstairs with him all night, I got 1 hours kip Sad he did sleep all night last night though (but is poorly and had jabs a week ago)

Softlysoftly · 14/10/2012 12:48

I do remember doing gradual withdrawal with DD1 which worked well but takes ages.

Put to bed half asleep and sit next to them but with no interaction, head down, eyes closed. If they cry get up hug put down. Repeat repeat until they fall asleep. The day after sit a pace further away, then again and again until you are out of the door. The begin to move away/close the door until eventually you are out of sight and can run around silently screaming freeedooooom!

Takes patience but less traction than cc/coi and you know that even if they cry a little you are there physically for them. Xx

It's painful isn't it. I have sores on both boobs. I keep trying to feed him less but that doesn't go down well as I'm sure you can imagine.

ticklemyboobsofsteel · 15/10/2012 20:29

to you Titania and Joyful My nerps are sore as well at the moment. DS seems to want to feed a fair bit more often than normal - but then he's got three molars working their way out with a fourth soon to follow I reckon, so I don't blame him. I took a look in his mouth this afternoon - molars look evil when they are coming in, don't they? :( They're so big.

I've managed to bag the rest of the week off work, so happy! Have been feeling so wiped out the last week or so, am looking forward to a few days' break.

Went to my step-sister's baby's birthday party yesterday, he was one :) Was so proud of DS, he was all smiles and curiosity. My heart melted at one point as someone turned on a bubble machine and his little face just lit up - the wonder on his face just made me tear up :)

He's having days now where he only has one nap a day. Normally he has one at about 9.30 and then at about 2.30. Today we all had a bit of a lay-in (up at 7.45am) and he didn't want his morning nap and so had an hour and three quarters at about 1.30pm. He was tired this evening, but not as bad as I thought, so perhaps he's slowly making the transition to one nap.

Hope you're all having a lovely evening and wishing you sleep-filled nights.

PS Ooh, I think someone asked me upthread about sleep clinics (Softly?) We contacted Millpond after a year of DS waking every 2 hours for milk. They basically came up with a plan for us (which we tweaked as we didn't like certain parts of it) and now he wakes up a maximum of twice per night for milk. On normal days it's once, but twice when he's teething. So in comparison to what he was like, it's aces.

Softlysoftly · 15/10/2012 20:41

Thank you Tickle if things don't improve soon I may consider them.

to the sore nipple gang, the thought of feeding when she has teeth freaks me out.

I feel shit today, I think I thought coming to mums would help but I feel really scarily down and on edge, like my mask to myself is slipping. I want to go home again where routine and my regular week plan at least kept me distracted from how unbelievably fucking hard this is. Having my family feel sorry for me and allow me to talk is just opening a can of worms.

It doesn't help mum commenting so much on how short of patience DH is, I know he should do more but doesn't she get I haven't the energy to fight things right now?

Fuck I sound whiny.

A bit better sorry things seem to get a little worse when you are closeted in a darkened room trying to achieve sleep for hours. DH and I need to sort stuff out but sometimes it's an uphill battle (he gets defensive when feeling guilty) and I just can't face it.

That is truly truly shit news joyful I'm hoping he's wrong :( not what you need when already under stress.
