This is getting stupid now, my dd woke from her nap at around 3.15pm, her feed was due around 5.00 anyway I bathed her, fed her, read her a story and put her down earlier than usual around 5.30pm knowing that it could around 1/2 hr for her to get herself to sleep, its now almost 7.00 and she is still awake, arrrrggghhhh and hubbie has been to the match and is now out of the booze so i'm left on my own arrrrggghhhhh again

Why did you put her to bed at 5.30?

shellybelly · 02/01/2006 19:06

she is 26wks and is happy, put her down at 5.30 coz she was showing all the signs of being tired ie eye rubbing yawning plus she normally goes 1.5 to 2 hrs before needs sleep and she had woken from nap at 3.15

why not just let her have a little nap later in the afternoon and put her to bed later?

shellybelly · 02/01/2006 21:04

she tends to wake up around 4.30-5.00am babbles away to herself, used to jump in and bring her into our bed but stopped that and now she falls back to sleep till 6ish, maybe I should have let her nap later just she gets very excited and tries to resist sleeping

Shelly, how many naps a day does your LO have. At about that age, my DS dropped his third nap (which he used to have at about 4.00pm) so I moved his lunchtime nap a bit later so he woke up around 2.30/3.00pm. I found he was much easier to settle then at bedtime.

of late she naps around 1/2hr at 9ish in the morning then another 1/2hr at around 11.30, then in the afternoon at around 2.30 - 3.00ish sometime has 1 to 1 1/2hrs usually 1hr and then she will have a cat nap about 4.30 (tho I must stress this is not all of the time. You read about how its best to have a routine set out and I have read in some of my Baby books that they should be napping about 2hrs in the morning and 2 in the afternoon and then a cat nap, tried doing the EASY routine but it was more ESAY and I'm not sure how to even begin to change her sleeping pattern during the day so I've just let it be

Shelly, if she's happy then I agree you should leave her be.

Do what feels right.

Aloha · 03/01/2006 19:26

What? It isn't even 7pm, she had a nap until 3.15, you put her to bed at 5.30,. and you are complaining? What about? I think this is a really strange post!

Aloha · 03/01/2006 19:27

Bloody hell, Shellly, you have no f**g idea!

read my thread.

shellybelly · 03/01/2006 19:30

I think my mum is right, I read way too many baby books and being a first time mum I thought that my dd should conform to them, have been thinking oooh she should be sleeping at this time and for this long

Go on, read my thread. That will open your eyes!

Ragtaggle · 03/01/2006 19:42

Had to laugh at this. You are so obviously knackered Aloha as you are usually mistress of tact! "You have no fucking idea" - even though you used the asterisks that made me laugh. And Shellybelly I have to ask what baby book suggests putting babies to bed at 05.30? Even Herr Ford says it should be seven!

Aloha · 03/01/2006 19:42

Oh, I'm just bitter!

shellybelly · 04/01/2006 08:37

the 5.30 bedtime was a one off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! coz she had not had a long nap in the afternoon and she was showing signs of tiredness, usually its story and in bed by 7ish
