Do babies sleep better on ironed sheets?

My DH insists they do. I have no idea! Thought I'd do a straw poll or something to see.

(My DH is a bit obsessed with everything being ironed, so I'm wondering if he's just telling me this so that I iron everything, which of course I will if it means me baby getting more sleep :o)

Well both mine were terrible sleepers and I don't iron anything, so maybe there's your answer

Yes the baby knows as you have gone to the extra effort to iron them they must go to the extra effort to sleep on them

Cot sheets are stretchy aren't they? You don't need to iron them

However, it is vital you iron baby socks, vests and muslins. VITAL.

However baby sheets are piss easy to iron - I'm sure your DH could get the hang of it in moments if he thinks it's worth trying.

I tried everything to get ds to sleep and nothing, nothing worked. Worth a try though.

I have some of the stretchy type but then some that are flat sheets and some that are thick and really really creased (maybe they're blankets I have no idea, everything's sort of got mixed up in all the chaos).

I'm on mat leave now and have nothing much left to do so maybe I'll do it. Once the baby's here I think ironing its sheets might take a back seat though...

I actually laughed at your title! I can categorically state we have never ironed DD's sheets (or indeed ours) and she generally sleeps fine.

I have never ironed a sheet. My DC's were both good sleepers (3mo and 5mo).

Mine did 12 hour stints at 8 and 13 weeks and I have never ironed a sheet in my life.

Makes not a jot of difference if the sheets are ironed, not ironed, upside down, back to front, pink, blue or anything else.

Your dh may be labouring under the delusion that mums of newborns sit at home all day and do very little, so he's giving you something to do. This was my dh before our dcs came along - insane about ironing everything or rather me ironing everything. Didn't last long

I'm going to go against the grain here and say yes, I think they do! I know I do. I agree with your DH that very wrinkled sheets with pronounced wrinkles might feel uncomfortable.

However, I do not agree that it's your job to iron them...

PS New babies are kind of crinkled, you know. I would knacker the iron now in case your dh tries to press the baby. Still, when he looks in the mirror after a few nights of broken sleep i expect your dh will be greeted with a face FULL of wrinkles so I'm sure that will give him something to iron, probably the baby is safe.

Well my baby sleeps all night and he has ironed sheets, as do we and we both sleep all night also. So in conclusion I would say Yes.
