Covid recovery pass for 12 year old

Assuming the lockdown ends in time, we're planning on travelling to Austria after Christmas for skiing. Does anyone have experience of obtaining a covid recovery certificate for a 12 year old? I have the form from the Austrian Gov, and have found a couple of online GPs who will apparently complete a certificate, but I wondered if anyone had actually done it and used it for travel.

Many thanks.

Trying to do the same for my 12YO as we're off to Italy at Christmas. Someone on another thread mentioned that you can get proxy access to their health record via your GP so that their vaccine record shows in your NHS Covid Pass app. Might be the same to show they've had it?

Bluebellies · 22/11/2021 12:44

I don't think he'll have enough time for the vaccine before we go, due to the new recommendation to wait 12 weeks after having covid before vaccinating. Plus only one vaccination won't count in Austria. I wonder if his health record would show the recovery status? And if so, would that be accepted.

That's what I'm wondering. Italy accepts a certificate of recovery too. Trying to find out if a letter from GP will suffice.

Bluebellies · 22/11/2021 16:25

I've read online that GPs won't issue one. But a private GP might. I've googled and found a couple like medicspot, but that's as far as I've got.

I’m in exactly the same boat with my daughter. She had covid 3 weeks ago. Hopefully flying out to see family in France for Christmas. When I phoned 119 they said to check for linked profiles for my children on the app… but there is nothing in their profiles relating to covid. Has anyone had any luck with getting proof of recovery? I don’t really want to find out 24 hours beforehand that we can’t travel if my daughter tests positive on the pre travel PCR.

massistar · 26/11/2021 07:33

@Frenchie00 my GP sent me a copy of my daughter's positive result as a PDF file which shows all her details and the date she tested positive etc. we couldn't do the linked profiles as it doesn't work in Wales.
Have sent this off to the Italian authorities and hoping they'll issue her a Green Pass on that basis.

poshme · 26/11/2021 08:11

@massistar gosh that's good.

My GP won't allow me proxy access to my kids health records, so far won't approve them to have their own access (I've emailed to ask but they're ignoring me) and I can't get any proof at all of infection or jabs.

All I have is the NHS email saying they were positive. No vax proof at all.
It's going to cost me a fortune in testing in France.

@massistar when you say you sent it to the Italian Authorities, who did you send it to? Is there an email? I am happy to get a private recovery certificate for my 13 year old and I’m getting a record of the pcr date but I don’t like the idea of waiting til I’m at the airport or customs to see if they accept it!

We had to send her details to the health board in the Veneto but were only able to do that because she's got an Italian passport (dual citizenship) and registered in that borough.

They've now sent us her QR code. Sorry, not much help as that process won't work for tourists. Sad

mrsbobble · 30/11/2021 15:48

@massistar thank you for the reply. It’s so frustratingly hard to find any information. I wish we could use that method as tourists!! They should have a place tourists can send results to get clearance!

massistar · 30/11/2021 16:15

Yep. Totally agree. Was an absolute nightmare trying to get hers though. Many many emails!

When we tried to travel to Cyprus we were told they only accept an eu recovery pass. The uk isn't part of the eu scheme. So out I'll issues Covid pass couldn't be accepted.

I am hoping to go skiing in Austria with my 14 year old daughter after Christmas also . For the last 6 weeks I have hit nothing but brick walls when trying to get “proof of recovery” . The Doctor has refused to link the NHS COVID App even though 119 say they can do this and also refused to stamp and sign the Austrian Gov A4 form.

All I have heard for the last 6 weeks from all sources is “ the government know there is a problem for 12 to 15 year olds and are looking into it”... that’s it, no updated news, not a hint of future hope.. nada,nunca,zilch...I now know where “little Britain” got the travel agent “ the computer says no “ idea from !

Best I can suggest is to get a Subject Access Report (SAR) for your child from your GP. That should show a record of recovery from Covid...well in my daughters case I’m at least hoping it will. There also seems to be the option to pay privately for a recovery certificate but I have no idea whether this will be accepted by the Austrian authorities.

Good luck ...

Did anyone have any success obtaining a recovery pass? I'm in the same boat with 12yo dd for travel to Bulgaria in February half term. The GP won't give me proxy access to her files.

reallyagain · 05/01/2022 16:36

Blacktea I think I'll be getting a private GP letter

blackteaplease · 05/01/2022 17:37

Thanks, I'll ask our surgery if they will provide one

Rainbowshit · 31/01/2022 17:51

Hi, has anyone managed to get a covid recovery certificate for a child. We're trying to get one for DD (12).

blackteaplease · 31/01/2022 20:16

Apparently they will be available for 12-16year olds from 3rd February

Helouiet · 03/02/2022 07:42

I’ve just tried to set up 12 yo on NHSonline as it’s now the 3rd but had no success as it stills says needs to be over 16. Has anyone else had any success?

Rool · 03/02/2022 10:21

I have got as far as verifying the number the gp holds but nothing happens after that!

Thunderpunt · 04/02/2022 08:14

Austria require a certificate to be completed, my GP did it for my 15yo and also I asked for a letter - cost £30, and was organised before they announced the app being rolled out for kids.

Rool · 04/02/2022 09:04

I have a QR code for my 12 year old showing vaccine and recover from the nhs digital pass.

It started working later on Thursday morning. Did you manage to get sorted?
