Ski holiday should have started today.

Should have been skiing in Austria this week. We have snow in Scotland but we can’t even ski in this country. Not complaining as we want to be safe and I’m sure this is happening to most ski holidays. Never mind there is always next year.

Rubbish. Sorry @deste. It's okay to complain a little bit. It's disappointing. Did you get a refund or credit note? Where had you planned to go?
Hopefully we'll be able to start the 21/22 season as normal later this year.

We were offered the same holiday next year but an increase of £400-500. We decided to take the refund and wait till the end of the year when they occasionally have offers. We were going to Zell am See and of course if you look on the webcam the conditions are perfect but not all the lifts are operating.

Gorgeous part of the world. We're booked to go to Rauris, just down the road from Zell at Christmas. I confess that I've been looking at the webcams daily (because I like to torment myself) and yep, perfect conditions. It's so strange seeing it so quiet. Great fun for those that are able to get up the lifts though.

With the refund, hopefully you can get in at the end of the year.

I'm in Scotland too - it's so frustrating to see the wonderful snow at Glenshee. I'm hoping against hope that things are relaxed enough to at least let us get a Scottish weekend ski trip in this season.

Is it just me or does it look like the most amazing snow conditions everywhere? Must stop following ski resorts on Instagram and watching Ski Sunday. It's too depressing. Feb half term skiing is the only thing that gets me through January.

Agree massistar. Totally. Great conditions for the World Cup, been watching the racing which is great. Been webcam checking our usual resort at least once a day and it’s quiet, and absolutely glorious. I know that there are more serious things going on in the world but it’s still killing me! Totally agree about getting through January too.

I can’t see Easter myself - we booked flights and have it pencilled in - I think we had a shot pre B1.1.7 but now I think it’s vanishing Sad

We have a package booked end of March - not looking great but have to wait until we're officially told we can't go before we get the refund.

Would love to move it to Dec - hope risky is it to go beginning of the season?

I look at the webcams too. All that lovely snow... I splashed out on new boots last season and feel awful now at having only had one week from them.

It's not wrong to miss skiing. It doesn't mean you can't simultaneously feel awful about other, greater, losses.

If you’re south-central I can recommend a boot-fitter in Bicester! When they open again, that is. I would only buy them from a professional boot fitter as it’s so expensive to make a mistake.

I tend to buy jackets off eBay. There are some bargains.

It looks like im not the only one punishing myself looking at webcams and fresh snow everyday, so much snow everywhere! Its so gutting.

@OhCobblers there are norm really good sales at the shops in MK Snowdome around May/June time. I was thinking the same, if the trip doesnt happen maybe by some equipment instead.

I have just been looking (again) at prices for a long weekend in Cervinia at Easter. Completely unwise given that the lifts aren't even open at the moment and there's no guarantee they will be and DH has already said no as we are starting renovations and apparently there isn't a bottomless pit of money

Interestingly though, we found flights with EJ a couple of weeks ago, but I've just looked again and they've all disappeared until July. I found flights with BA instead.

Apparently I'm just all about torturing myself. The local dry slope was letting me get a small fix, but due to lockdown, that's shut now too.

Re buying equipment, I want a new helmet. My birthday is in August, too late to get one in the sale?

@EggyPegg I'm not ruling out the last few weeks of this season just yet. Anything can happen at the moment and things change fast.
I have a feeling it will end up being that you can go to a few resorts, but will have to pay for a £100 test both ways per person before flying which adds up for a family.

You can prob get a bargain helmet for your birthday in August, Im guessing there may well be surplass gear after this season :-(

I think March Easter will be possible

Cases will drop now - quite significantly I expect and combined with vaccine, the risk of cases rising will be less risky

Looking at webcams here too - such amazing snow this year. Feeling for all those business owners out there, who are likely to miss out on a whole season's income (as well as almost a quarter of last year's too). I really hope they can survive until next year.

I don't think this season will be possible - or at least if it is, it will be manic. Every man & his dog will be cramming into a few resorts.
