Ski holiday should have started today.

Should have been skiing in Austria this week. We have snow in Scotland but we can’t even ski in this country. Not complaining as we want to be safe and I’m sure this is happening to most ski holidays. Never mind there is always next year.

I’m keeping an eye too. I have flights booked for March but agree it’s a long shot from here. I don’t personally want to book with a tour op anymore even for 2022 because they start demanding balances etc and the price really adds up for a family. If I book a flight directly it’s easily converted to a voucher these days and many hotels allow free cancellation or charge just a relatively small fee. I don’t want to be 2-3 months out from a ski holiday with no idea if I’ll be able to go and a tour op demands the balance. It may be converted into a voucher which I have no idea if I can use or if they will still be in business. Really sad and difficult situation for ski specialist agencies though.

I couldn't agree more. We have booked for Austria in December. We booked the accommodation at the beginning of September and the flights last week. The accomodation is 100% refundable until a week before and we're content with a flight credit note as we'll definitely fly somewhere at some point.

We've also booked a summer Eurocamp trip, but know that they'll offer us a credit note too if we can't go. We're paying that off piecemeal and it's significantly cheaper than skiing so we're not out of pocket with a credit note. We know that we'll use it (hopefully Eurocamp are fairly solid).

My friend was due to go to Barbados last summer and ended up rolling it over to this year having paid just a deposit. She's already concerned about them wanting the balance and isn't feeling enthusiastic about going this year.
