Obergurgl with Esprit in March. First time with Esprit and first time in Austria with DD. Can't wait. She is booked into ski lessons at Hemel week before Christmas to get her back into practice!

sunnylabsmum · 09/12/2010 12:20

Chamrousse France self drive TOMORROW!!!!!

natation · 09/12/2010 12:54

Les Houches, with 6 it's got to be the Chamonix valley, can't find anywhere else cheaper, always independent and either self-drive or train.

Nettee · 09/12/2010 13:07

Morzine with Chilly Powder in February. Also can't wait!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 09/12/2010 20:59

St. Anton in January. I can't wait as I missed last season due to vile ms. First time skiing in Europe for years as normally go trans-atlantic but now have a small person to consider. Darn! Wink

Geilo, Norway in February - so excited! Booked the husky dog driving and snowmobiling as well so really looking forward to it all... Smile

MrsGuyOfChristmasBorn · 14/12/2010 15:32

Bescklet - Geilo is brilliant - we had a fantastic holiday there about 3 yrs ago, and still have the photo of me driving the huskies on my fridge door!We are off to L Rosiere for New Year, self-drive, and then Courchevel 1850 @ Half Term. Ds1 has a school ski trip @ easter, just wondering if I can fit in another quickie trip then for me & DS2 Xmas Grin

AlpinePony · 14/12/2010 18:01

becklet - Norway is gorgeous and SOOO empty Mon-Fri. I did Hemsedal a couple of years ago - there's loads of off-piste, follow some locals! Wink Be warned though - the cost of food was absolutely shocking Shock - we don't drink so that wasn't an issue, but evening meals were 25 quid for a pizza and that was about the cheapest you could get!

mulranno · 14/12/2010 21:23

was in Oslo at Easter...and guess how much a bowl of soup was in an out door cafe....wait for it....£15...yes £15...

LadyBiscuit · 20/12/2010 13:51

Nettee - I stayed there over the Millenium, was really great and they are lovely people.

We're off to Tignes 1st week of January. Bit worried about the weather though - it's absolutely freezing there at the moment. I was planning on booking ski lessons for my nearly 4YO in advance but I think I will hang fire and see how he copes with the cold otherwise I will be chucking £150 down the drain

arentfanny · 20/12/2010 13:52

Dorset, some lovely hills here covered in snow.

upahill · 20/12/2010 13:55

I'm not going so far this year (facing redundancy, got building work on, going to France in the summer )

Si I'm having a week in the Cairngorms, going to get some winter walking and some skiing in.

maltesers · 20/12/2010 18:36

we are skiing in Megeve, French Alps. . .thats if our flight is running from Bournemouth Airport. . .
Any opinions. . .weather in January and end of December ? ? ? ? ? ?

LadyBiscuit · 20/12/2010 20:15

maltesers - don't know about megeve (think it is slightly lower than Tignes) but it's about -15 or so in Tignes at the moment :( It's always a bit of an issue going this time of year because it can be chilly but I've never known it be this cold. Facefleece time for sure and I think I might just keep my DS indoors except for a couple of hours every day. My worst fear is that he hates skiing so I really need to be careful not to push him to stay outside longer than he's happy to be there

maltesers · 21/12/2010 08:21

Aaahh, how old is your DS Ladybiscuit ?

Mine is 10yrs and out skiing right now in Wengen with his Dad. He likes skiing but when its freezing and foggy he hates it. . .
Just hope he is not sick of it when we go on Jan 1st. .

LadyBiscuit · 21/12/2010 08:59

He's 3 :) He is very enthusiastic in theory and is convinced he will be the world's best skier but I have my doubts :o

We are going with my extended family (parents, siblings etc) and neither of my parents are skiing this year so there is plenty of childcare on tap.

I'm sure your DS will still be keen to ski even if he has already been once - he will make huge progress in his skiing going two weeks almost back to back. Very jealous of him going to Wengen!

maltesers · 21/12/2010 12:42

Is Wengen nice ? Am jealous too and wished we could have gone for 2 whole weeks. My ds has been skiing since he was 3 so a good skier now and i cant keep up. . .

LIZS · 21/12/2010 16:18

Wengen is lovely when the snow is good and sun is out. A real Intermediate resort with long runs through the trees and cholcoate box views. Very Envy , we should be in Engelberg right now. :(

IwishIcouldmeetSanta · 26/12/2010 21:15

Oooh! Please tell me more about Megeve. It looks fab, but I've never been.

I need to think about [whispers] Christmas next year (PIL are keen for a family Christmas in the mountains). Wols Megeve be a good family destination for skiers and non-skiers??

MrsGuyOfChristmasBorn · 27/12/2010 17:57

Anyone else going to La Rosiere next week?

petitdonkey · 27/12/2010 17:59

Les Get with Ski Famille in February - it's my first time!!

VivaLeBeaver · 27/12/2010 18:06
