We're going to Ardent with The Family Ski Company in January - can't wait!

Megeve is loverly. Not cheap, not ski in/out, not a huge ski area, but very nice little town with a big sports centre, horse drawn carts and nice restaurants...all a non-skier could need (as well as the posh shops!)

LunarSeasonsGreetings · 31/12/2010 16:34

Probably nowhere. Work have said can't book any holiday until our team is back up to 4 people (one left, they have a rule that we must have 3 available every day). Unfortunately we also have a recruitment freeze, so having a replacement in place is unlikely before the snow's gone Sad

natation · 31/12/2010 21:36

Off to Vallorcine and Argentiere for a few days, cannot wait as it's jsut me and eldest child staying with the children's "adopted" grandparents who live there. Hardly any Brits have ever heard of Vallorcine, it's the very edge of Chamonix skiing, it's very French/Swiss and that's how I like it.

mckenzie · 31/12/2010 21:44

hey MrsGuy - where are you staying in la Rosiere?
We're going there but not until beginning of April. It's the first time for DC2 so we wanted to wait for warmer weather so she doesn't get put off by being cold.

LadyBiscuit · 31/12/2010 21:55

We're off at an eye-wateringly early hour on Sunday. It's still going to be - 15 or so up the top but not too bad in the resort and it looks sunny so I think I will rent some skis and boots for my DS and take him out for an hour or so between my skis a couple of times. And it's going to be sunny! :)

I am very excited

PatriciaHolm · 01/01/2011 10:15

We're in St-foy as I type. Conditions seem good, tho I only pootle on the easy stuff. Dh and his mate have been up the top though. Dcs (4 & 6) currently having a lesson...

MrsGuyOfChristmasBorn · 06/01/2011 12:17

MacKenzie - am there right now!!! Snow has been ok, a bit patchy in places, but some snow today and more forecast for tonight. We have been staying in Chalet Papillon - good location - (wi-fi rubbish, hence am now tyign this in a cafe Xmas Grin). We have had a good time, and may well retun next year.

tulpe · 06/01/2011 16:14

MrsGuy - is that with Ski Beat? How is food, quality of accommodation etc? They have a great deal on the chalet for the week in Feb that we are interested in so would love to hear back (obvs this could wait until you return :o )

deste · 06/01/2011 16:28

Were off to St Foy next Saturday with Chalets & Auberge sur la Montagne. We are staying in Chalet Les laurels. Not our first choice but the one we were in last year is fully booked. Cant wait.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 09/01/2011 21:19

Less than 2 weeks for us to wait now Grin

Hi there Mrs Guy we were also in Papillon Jan 3 rd to 8th!
Our first time with ski beat , had excellent chalet hosts and in general impressed with ski beat operation.
Found la rosiere very friendly suited us well and would go back again but considering self catering.Happy to discuss in more detail, which papillon were you in?

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 10/01/2011 08:17

Hi - yes now back - we were in Chalet 2 just below you OlliePolly! - excellent food, pleasant chalet hosts, friendly other guests... Particularly pleased that the childrens' food was 'proper' food' freshly cooked, table laid etc, not just nuggets on a plate as we have occasionally found in the past on ski hols Grin. I like this kind of set-up as DH does not come with us (knees too bad) so it means I can have a nice meal and good conversation in the evenings, not really possible in a hotel - always interesting meeting the other guests - luckily have never met any horrible ones!!!
I like La Ros, but probably the DC probably should have somewhere a bit more challenging. At Half-term we are going to Courchevel with Ski-Total. Anyone else???

olliepolly · 11/01/2011 14:22

now i know you were in pap 2 can come clean and say we loved it but struggled with other guests ,all in a party with others next door, all smokers and drinkers with no kids so their day v different from ours.
think we are quite easy going so just got on with it but had nothing in common with them at all!
We are off with ski beat again in feb this time with friends filling a small chalet in plan-peisey.

MrsGuyOfGisbourne · 11/01/2011 17:48

Oh, no! Ollie Polly Sad - real shame - they must have been part of the 'party of 21' Shock that the manager told me on the first day were all arriving in cars...

clam · 17/01/2011 20:36

Another one for Les Orres, here. 4th year running!

HandbagAddiction · 19/01/2011 13:21

Just got back from a sneaky weekend. Saint Foy Friday afternoon, La Rosiere and La Thuile in Italy on Saturday and Val d'isere on Sunday. Great skiing and lovely weather. Most of those resorts are still skiing well but were a little icy in patches. Some more snow required and whatever you do, avoid the nightmare blue run down into Val d'Isere village, it's icy and was complete carnage. Take the lift or do the black instead.....

deste · 21/01/2011 17:44

St Foy all week except for La Rosierre on Wednesday. It snowed yesterday and the conditions are good. Although it is sunny it is very cold in the mornings.

iluvcake · 21/01/2011 21:40

Courchevel with Esprit on the 30th Jan. Excited!!!

BeachMum3 · 26/01/2011 20:46

Just back from Ardent with Family Ski - had an amazing time!!

Guess IwishIwasmoreorganised is there now?? - did you enjoy??

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 30/01/2011 21:51

Yes we were there last week.

Had an amazing time too, the team there is fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble. We all (adults and children) feel like we have had a real holiday.

Must start planning for next year Grin
