Search: please help the Techs fix it

Hello.

We know that Advanced Search is currently up the creek not functioning at its optimum level, and the Techs are busy trying to fix it.

But we need your help in making sure we've got a handle on all the things that don't work with it right now.

Many of you have already yelled about told us what's not working for you and we think this is where we're at:

1. Choose Topics ain't working at all.

1. If you search using Classic, every individual post in each thread comes up separately under its thread title, rather than being grouped together.

1. If you're using Classic, you can't click through to the individual posts that your search has brought up. You get taken to the OP instead.

1. Some people are getting taken to the Talk Topic page when they click on a thread they've searched for.

Is there anything we've missed?

I've noticed 2 and 3.

Nope, that seems to be all I have found so far
The basic search is shit though, I never use it so am stuck with advanced.

just that the button top right of the screen hasn't worked since the changes were rolled out months ago...I guess that's noted though

Is that what's known as the 'basic' search btw? If so it don't work at all in classic.

Also i keep having a minor issue when I click on 'add message' as the cursor doesn't auto appear in the box, so I start typing when it scrolls me down to the box, and nothing happens till I press the space bar for the first time then it just moves the page a bit so I knw I haven't typed anything yet.

Did the cursor used to appear automatically? If it did then it would be GREAT to have that back

Yes, Juillet, the button on the top right is Basic Search - and yes, it's knackered too.

Will note your probs with 'Add message' but this is really a thread about Advanced Search

I have had number 4 happen - at least I think it was the topics page, it might have been the home page. Will try it now to see what happens.

Have just done a search using a single keyword and it worked perfectly.

Are you in Classic, BertieBotts or MN New?

I thought it was me! Ive noticed 2 & 3.

I'm also not always able to click onto a persons name to go to where I left off on a thread as it takes me to the beginning. I've mentioned it before, but it is getting annoying now

Thanks to all the rest of you - it may take us a while to get it all fixed but we are on it.

I want to be able to search for a thread I can vaguely remember the date of posting but can't when I can't remember my username at the time. A search for my post in xx/xx/xx date would be good.

I was having a problem with 4)

But yesterday that was working OK and I could get tothe actual thread rather than the topic.

I have number 3 and I'm using NEW.

It does work fine if the thread is less than one page, but once you get to page 2+ it goes to the OP.

Helen, sorry to bang ON and ON but is this going to involve fixing Threads I'm On as well? Because it sort of started working with some threads a few days ago and now it is back to none of them "working" - whichever post I click on in Threads I'm On, I get taken to the OP on page 1 and I am getting a teenie bit Really Pissed Off with it now.

I am using MN Classic, with pages, 25 to a page. IE 8 (possibly 7).

Yes what thumbwitch said. I thought 3 covered that but I realise now it's just "search" that point refers to.

Also you can't include a wildcard in posters' names when searching.

(no harm in reminding about this request which we were told years ago was going to be actioned )

All 4 for me, I'm on classic, in safari.
