it's not MP, it's like scrolling your way down a buntastic deck chair!

bluebump · 06/11/2009 20:06

I like Firefox, it's far better than internet explorer anyway.

I have no clue what you are talking about but I really do wish I did .

choufleur · 06/11/2009 20:10

much better than safari. and IE is terrible,

what colour is this on safari?

IdrisTheDragon · 06/11/2009 20:10

Firefox is great

throckenholt · 06/11/2009 20:12

gimp is hideous though !

It doesn't have to be blue and white stripes - you can customise it (or at least go classical).

theyoungvisiter · 06/11/2009 20:14

That's weird - I used to access MN from firefox at home and explorer from work and they both looked the same.

Admittedly I am on maternity leave and have not accessed explorer for a few months, but it certainly used to look the same on either browser?

Are you sure it's not just that you are using MN classic on one and modern on the other, or summat?

Leonie - another open-sourcer here. So much so that I have de-installed windows and now operate entirely in unbuntu. I love open-office. It's so much more versatile than Word.

Fruitbatlings · 06/11/2009 20:14

Safari looks exactly the same on my Mac

Goober · 06/11/2009 20:15

Only ever use FF.

What is Safari?

alwayslookingforanswers · 06/11/2009 20:16

Firefox and Thunderbird here, do have Gimp - but rarely usely. Still using word though.

Looks fine to me.........

Ingles2 · 06/11/2009 20:17

My active convo's page on safari is loverly...
black and white, no thick blue boxes, nowt!

Booyhoo · 06/11/2009 20:19

i dont know what i use

i just type in mn and up it comes.

bibbitybobbityhat · 06/11/2009 20:19

Are you talking about internet browsers? How do I know what I've got [dim emoticon] please?

fruitshootsandheaves · 06/11/2009 20:20

bbhat what do you click on to get online?

theyoungvisiter · 06/11/2009 20:22

bbh - if it's the one that came with your machine it's almost certainly explorer, because that's what's installed by default on windows.

But you can find out by clicking on help, about on your browser, or by hovering over the launch icon.

alwayslookingforanswers · 06/11/2009 20:23

Ingles - I've just gone to customise and selected "sober workplace"

and it's now all black and white - sounds like you've just got it customized differently on safari

bibbitybobbityhat · 06/11/2009 20:24

An e with a circle round it like a planet.

How do you "stumble" on to Firefox? Don't you have to download it or install it?

Why is it better than what I've got?

Tia

theyoungvisiter · 06/11/2009 20:29

that's explorer.

Principally firefox is more versatile (it has add-ons so you can customise it to how you want it more easily) and it's open source - so completely free.

It's also supposed to be less prone to viruses as most viruses are targetted towards explorer.

It's often a bit faster, especially on slower machines.

Some non-technical info here

theyoungvisiter · 06/11/2009 20:30

You have to download it, it can be done here

alwayslookingforanswers · 06/11/2009 20:32

you can even get a spell check add-on for it - that underlines the dodgy words in red just like in word
